How do I enjoy things again? How do I stop letting other people ruin my enjoyment of things? How do other otakus "enjoy and continue"? I've had a moment of clarity and started to realize how negative and soykafty I've been, and now I want to try and restructure myself to stop being so nihilistic and defeatist. I used to be so passionate and animated in the past, but then I let cynicism and jaded stupidity get in the way of my own happiness. How do I get back in the groove of things, and preventing myself from falling into the same mental traps as before?

What kind of things? >How do other otakus "enjoy and continue"? If you're talking about entertainment, realize that other people's opinions are usually not relevant. That means yours shouldn't be relevant to them either.

I've been trying to figure out how to enjoy things as well. Similar to you except most of my problems stem from just seeing everything as propaganda and not being about to function around others due to them being "normal" not caring about privacy and always having their phones around. I always get paranoid and never am open with others and only speak about 10% of myself with them due to the fear of being "listened to". I don't know anyone at all that actually gives a soykaf about real issues or respects my privacy.

Stop caring about what others think and stay off the internet. If you can't stay off the internet stay off of social media. Easier said than done, but you'll get there. Nobody except autists truly cares about what you enjoy as long as you aren't a sperg about it.

>>57131 I haven't used social media since the early 2010s.

>>57137 Then what "people" are ruining your enjoyment of things? Also imageboards are a type of "social-media".

>>57125 You should be careful lainon and consider whether your way of thinking isn't wrong. Even if something looks like it is definitively better a certain way, it might just be that you're wrong. Still, in this case I'm inclined to say you're very much correct though. I don't think everyone has quite understood, for example and in particular, how transformative phones really have been for our society. If anything, the constant cries of teachers who cannot effectively teach anymore because the phones the kids take with them are more salient should serve as a wake up call. >>57105 To get back to the topic on hand, you have to not let it drag you down. You could even see a bad and unenjoyable situation as a challenge to yourself to make it better. Anyone who is dissatisfied because of something specific already has identified what causes their dissatisfaction and as such, puts them in the best position to try and improve the state of affairs. Or don't, no one is really obliged to do what they think is correct. Just do whichever makes you more happy. What has helped me grow beyond the cynicism of the people around me is to realize that if we allow ourselves to be dragged down by something that isn't even immediate, or easily observable, we let our lives be ruled by others. Even if it's a person who has legitimate concerns, it's really the same mechanic that is used for terror regimes at play here, debilitating fear. Better to live life without being ruled by fear, so as to have the capacity to actively make the most out of it. Incidentally being alive gives many opportunities to make meaningful choices and bring others to making meaningful choices. You don't have to be an empty opinionless shell to live a good life.

>>57125 I can relate. I watch rigged sports with my dad and obvious propaganda kdramas with my mother while caring zero about the screen and just enjoying their company. When alone I don't usually enjoy things too, though, so I don't have all the answers. Currently I barely watch tv by myself anymore, only when eating because I'm too old to be nimble enough to use the pc/phone while eating. And sometimes I eat in silence just looking at the night sky.

>>57105 Honesty, lainon, I can only say "you stop caring". The kinda long story of how I learned this starts with me realizing I'm mentally ill at around 17, and asking for help, then my therapist determining I have 3 mental illnesses like some fuarrrkin combo. The medication I got made me like 120% happy, and carefree, and it was basically the boost I needed to get out of the hellhole I was in quick, while still being able to respond normally to therapy. Therapy taught me many things, including that other people's opinions should only be accounted for, if you care about those people. And even then, you have hundreds of other factors that could determine if their opinions matter in what you're doing. With this said, tldr, my long advice is Try and create a system in yourself, that classifies people, depending on importance, expertise, etc... You start comparing their opinions with this system, and deciding if their opinions matter. Though this can be bad, if you filter out everything that you don't like, so be vigilant, and look for actual advice, even if it might offend you or anything. Then start actually rediscovering yourself. Try old hobbies you stopped with, try new stuff too. And be vigilant with falling into mental traps. Once happens. Twice is a learning opportunity, and the third time should be your answer to the problem. For example, another personal anecdote. I'm currently in my third relationship. The first two, I realized what were the issues, with both me, and the girls, and I adjusted myself accordingly. Not in a simp way but in an "I learned and I'm better now" way. This third girl looks like the woman I will marry. I learned from my 2 mistakes and the third attempt is the correction. I hope I could help. I wish you luck in shaping yourself for the better. WAGMI!

>>57155 >>57125 Yes, we got to a point where trying to stay away from collective habits that are obviously mental poison has become an almost unbearable burden. I know it's bad to consider all things external as crap and totally reject normalf4gs, but it's even worse to forget that you're absolutely right about these issues. I'm IT tech support and normal people are always wanting me to fix their smartphone bullcrap and help with their social media retardation. It's so excruciating to me because I know it has become a literal social complex, so I'm gradually letting them know that I don't want to deal with it and that I don't support it. I'm always "joking" about how everybody's looking like zombies with their glowing rectangles, about how touching grass is much better and sometimes when I'm kinda pissed I say that smartphones were the worst crap that ever happened to technology. They get obviously confused and criticize me, "cuz ur a techie bruh, you should dig this" or even "I thought you were intelligent, lol", but I'm giving less of a soykaf everyday. It's like esoteric stuff. Some magicians have sense of purity when dealing with spiritual forces and stuff, like they don't do black magick or sacrifices because it is corrupt and vile, but they do sigils, astrology and some conjuring. I think the same way. I'm not obligated to deal with complete soykaf because everybody is engaged in it. It's bad tech, I don't wanna deal with it and I wanna psyops people the fuarrrk outta this. It's not working, but I believe it is my mission.

>>57105 I'm always letting my enjoyment in media, especially music, get ruined by plebbit and jewtube fa99ots. It's so demoralizing to see that you don't have any special tastes and that there are millions of other retards consuming the same sh1t media as you.

>>57105 You are in limbo. Your issue is regarding vulnerability and loss relative to positive emotions. Therefore you have two primary options: 1) Get rid of or otherwise "split off" positive emotions. Thus, rendering yourself dead, but invulnerable. No one can ever take anything away from you, they can't try to twist things within you, you cannot be disappointed. The result will be embracing the death drive, and creating a "false self" to imitate a living being and positive emotions in order to interface with (and potentially manipulate in a goal orienbted manner) others. This is usually a trait acquired in childhood because the child, and infant, is basically dependent on the parents and they're responsible for creating the core self to begin with. 2) Create within yourself the means to just not care about others, develop boundaries and defenses against people who want to control or harm you, develop confidence, etc. This would be exiting the limbo by seeking to become a living thing, which is capable of facing and carrying the often incredible burden of existence and responsibility. So basically you can choose life or death.

>>59077 Do you tell others how much longer you actually are listening to a band then everybody else? I truely hate those people defining themselves by the exact opposite of everybody else, always in worry about how popular something currently is, so they can distance themselves from it before somebody thinks of them as uncool.

>>59079 No I just can't deal with the fact that I'm also just a soulless consumer drone
Six · 2022-05-17 10:03
>>59103 I'm not the quoted anon. Maybe you just need to accept the fact that you're human just like everyone else. We all share some traits, our consumerist culture didn't (only) developed out of the hat of some powerful assholes. It was just a matter of time 'till they realized how human psychology could be more intelligently exploited. We share a collective conscious, biological and behavioral patterns. Misanthropy isn't going to help you, fren. Can't you feel good about some good soykaf being appreciated by other morons? Sometimes when I know some small culture that exists surrounding certain types of media, I feel good, 'cause I remember being part of a tiny subculture in my teenage years and sad, because small groups of interest has vanished through time. I imagine how an anon that enjoys, for instance, music like Frontline Assembly or movies like Mandy or Johnny Mnemonic, would be like IRL. Maybe a person completely different that I'm imagining, someone who looks like a normalf*g or maybe some jaded weird chick. Maybe some 15 yo kid. IDK. I understand the urge to discriminate NPCs and stuff, but losing faith in humanity is never healthy, never good. Even if it feels easier, dehumanizing humans is just wrong in all aspects and bad for you. The "non-humans" are not at our daily range, we should be careful about them in a whole different way.

>>57105 Trying to enjoy again ruins observation. Basically there is judgement and comparison of past and present ruining present observation. Key is pure observation I feel. Next question is observing factors which prevent observation, like internet addiction, food addiction, gossip, what have you. Also take note dear OP, pic rel is some good stuff. Will tell you more if interested, they call it "horse stance".

I was able to reclaim my passion and enjoyment from life after a long process of introspection and experimentation, climbing out of the depressive pit is a long and deeply personal process that won't be the same for everyone, but among the people I've known who have done it the most common thread is like what the guy before said, you stop caring so much, and it produces a paradoxically positive result. Things that were useful for me personally were reconnecting with the person i was when i was younger, practicing hygiene with social media to restrict political content, and getting a good initial boost from using ketamine a few times to reset my brain.

>>57204 This worked out pretty well for me though therapy was a joke. The route I took was accidentally getting a mentor who initiated me into a stoic cult. The only drug necessary was an eleusinian style final initiation where I "faced myself". The idea was to force myself into a situation where I either confront my fear or go mad. After 6 years of preparation, it was relatively easy. It worked pretty well, I've never been more resilient to misfortune since. While I'm no where near as passionate as I was as a kid, I did gain a more mature type of drive. You could call it discipline, but I'm not sure that entirely describes it. I'm not saying you should do a soykaf ton of drugs to get better, for me that one trip was enough to change my life.
