is rejecting modernity viable or even ultimatley worth the effort?

If you think you can reject "modernity" but keep the devices and media, forget it. If you think you can just wander off into the woods and leave it all behind, well there used to be places you could go to do that. Also, a lot of philosophers think the period of "modernity" ended in the 20th century though don't necessarily agree on when. This is the age of postmodernity isn't it? There was a snowstorm here so I slept late today and might have missed an age or two dawning in the meantime.

well thats a terribly vauge question. What do you mean by rejecting modernity ? If you'd be happy just tearing off your clothes, grabbing the nearest woman, and running off into the woods together then why yes, of course its viable and worthwhile. Perhaps you expect something more, though.

Viable and worth are subjective. I enjoyed living with no tec for a while. Other people find themselves in a help group cause their phone broke. But you dont have to live in extremes. Rejecting media can be a healthy step. Its merely a stress inducer unless you deal in stocks etc.

You don't reject modernity by choice, but because it's in your nature and power to see beyond the smoke and mirrors and not be able to ignore it.
