The Heart of Darkness

What drives a man to act against his fellow man? To bloody his fist with the blood of his kin? In the Winter of December 1990 I took my grandfathers's mortality into my own hands and cut off his life support. He'd suffered a stroke in his late age that made him nearly immobile. We just kept him in front of the TV since we didn't know what to do with him. After he left out his last breath I called the rest of my family and told them the news. Of course I had to omit the fact that I'd been his killer but you could feel my receivers give out a sigh of relief at the news I brought, the last few years had been hard on the family since the old man was truly cherished and to see him in his crippled state was like kicking dead whales down a beach. I don't know what compelled me to disconnect him that fateful eve, but I do know that no matter how long it's been it's blood that'll forever be on my hands, and blood that shall send me to the deepest level of hell to sit right beside the fallen Angel himself.

>>50868 What you did wasn't violent. If anything the result of that man's life was due to a great lack of violence. Still has to end somehow. You did a good thing. Being trapped in a broken body is hell on Earth. And everything that's ever lived has blood on its hands, it's not really a bad thing. >>50871 Who has been filling your head with ideas? Lol did some sociology quack teach you that word

You ended the prolonged misery of an old man. I think that's a good thing. >What drives a man to act against his fellow man? A combination of the tendencies towards self-preservation and self-destruction

>>50868 When you teach the masses what is right or wrong you are going to generalize. But being right or wrong in the real world is a complex matter that cannot be simplified by rules. You lived one of the borderline cases where you saw one of the contradictions between law and the real world, and sometimes you have to set the laws aside to do the right thing.

>What drives a man to act against his fellow man? Too much edginess and ego, self-importance imposed. I guess this is a general question you're asking but on your case it's not the same scenario. >>50868 >We just kept him in front of the TV since we didn't know what to do with him. If he still had sanity he'd be in complete fear but it takes a heart to comfort someone in such state but I do know most people are busy with their lives and lack the wealth, so it's fine but most sick elderly I've seen are always treated negatively but it all boils down to the fact that "people just don't know what to do with them" so it's a common occurence. > I don't know what compelled me to disconnect him that fateful eve, Perhaps it is fate but as long as you keep this feeling of "guilt and regret" which is a negative feeling you won't turn into some criminal who might have felt nothing but entirely positive feeling and pure joy upon the act for the very first time in their entire life (this could also be caused by some disease). Euthanasia- maybe it's a shared sentiment among your family or relatives in the past which is not the best thing to debate, discuss, or arrive at any conclusion and you may have just felt the need to will this collective emotion and dirty your hands for everyone's well-being but it boils down to what feeling you had, did you feel sadness or guilt or did you feel bliss and just used everyone's emotion to fuel and justify your act?

>>50933 >>50932 >>50915 >>50913 Oh right uh. I didn't actually disconnect my grandpa it was just some old man I found in the hospital one night while I was there just chilling. The receptionists let you get away with a lot of soykaf if you just say you're visiting so and so. Mostly I feel pretty bad because I never really knew the guy or what his actual afflictions were. Just did it because I thought it'd be funny to be honest. It wasn't.
