Finding friends & relationships

John Rain · 2021-09-28 21:44
Might be a weird post, but how do you find people you can chill with? Be it platonic or romantic. I have people who I'm colleagues with, but I have met less and less people who I feel a deep connection with as time went by and I feel it's getting harder to do so too. All things considered it doesn't help I live in essentially middle of nowhere, but I can't change much about that. Any tips or stories how to find and how you found people you feel a deep connection with?
Chan Siu Ming · 2021-09-28 21:59
Work, befriended a couple of my colleagues and have plenty of work buddies I sometimes go out drinking with. I wouldn't consider the latter group as my friends but it's nice to have acquaintances. Try going to church, OP. If you're a fedora tipper then hang around places of interest, e.g. if you're into tech try a local hackerspace or a tech meetup of sorts. I saw some chart floating around on the internet how the www affected the """dating scene""" and it showed that a skyrocketing number of people have met their partners online, perhaps you should harass talk to women on the internet.
William Holtzer · 2021-09-29 02:26
Generally all my internet friends are people whom I got to know by playing obscure, niche games. Soon enough you'll come across something along with a group of people that you will all agree to never speak of to anyone outside that group. This group will be the internet friends you will come to know and love for the rest of your existence. That's life.

>>50488 >hang around places of interest, e.g. if you're into tech try a local hackerspace or a tech meetup of sorts Not OP, but this is what everyone suggests and it only works if you're in a big-enough city or are still in school where there's clubs to join. I'm in neither. So I guess my only options are: >leave this town and move to a large city where the cost of living is insane, but at least i can juss go out n meet people brah >hope to find the few interesting people who haven't escaped this dump, plus a woman who would actually like me (single, common ground, hasn't bought the asexual/lesbian meme; pick two) >targeted shot on brainstem, 99% accuracy
Cowboy · 2021-09-29 05:00
>Any tips or stories how to find and how you found people you feel a deep connection with? Idk, it's just kind of random, but your odds are much higher if you frequent places that healthy (normal) people frequent; like at your university (watch for fraternities, they/them and yuppies); job (not technology/bars/dispensaries/game/comics/sex shop/fastfood related); latin/greek/hebrew conversation group (or another language that isn't Japanese); hobby store (not game/toy/anime/comic related); church/temple Going on a place like Lainchan, and being a weirdo late-bloomer social drop-out, surrounded by a bunch of other weirdo drop-outs, who will be envious of all your good traits, drag you down at every single opportunity, and preach about their "personal identity" 24/7, will completely fuarrrk you up, and the longer you stay with these people, you run the risk of irrecoverably damaging yourself and wasting years of your life. The key is to find someone who will actually see you for who you truly are, someone who actually feels empathy and emotions, and correctly reacts to your positive presence, and makes you feel dignified and human. My best friends are an ethnic Vietnamese guy, an ethnic Korean guy, and a guy studying forestry. I've met them all at school. I have nothing in common with them at all background and aspiration wise, but I feel like I can actually connect with these people. I've had pleasant experiences with people in all the above places, but haven't found anyone yet. The value of this message depends on how old you are I guess.

>find people you can chill with If you live in big town, hang around places of interest. If there are no places of interest, there's no rule against creating one... you're allowed to rent a room in the community center for a biweekly "hackerspace" and put up posters or whatever. If you want women to show up to your nerd event you'll have to make an effort to include them explicitly btw. Not in a SJW way but they have to be confident that creeps won't be the majority. Plus there's friends from work and what not. You just gotta pretend to be a little outgoing, it's not that hard. Most work buddy relationships tend to revolve around alcohol or weed. >deep connection that's harder. I can count the number of really deep connections/close friendships/romantic relationships I've had in my life on one hand. I think they sort of happen randomly when you start making surface-level friends. That said I'm dating a girl I met on bumble right now, it's going really well and I think she's gf material. I didn't have to get really good pictures or hide my personality to woo her either, my profile was very honest. YMMV though, looks are important for that.

Mentat · 2021-09-30 06:01
>>50486 i'm definitely a solitude enjoyer but when i do feel sociable it's always pretty difficult finding other people to be friends with. only real successes have been in uni, where everyone has roughly the same schedule but making friends outside of that is tricky just because like idk, when you've got a day off they're working & vice versa, something even as simple as meeting up to hang out becomes a big thing that has to be planned out in advance (by then the desire for socialization having completely evaporated) even online friends suffer from this issue, perhaps even worse with the inevitable time-zone difference >>50519 sometimes i feel like i'm over complicating things and something like this might really be just the way to do things

That or I'll comment on peoples obscure meme or weeb paraphernalia. I have a lot of female friends that I met professionally, I don't care about love anymore, I don't care about sex either, but I refuse to meet people through an app, and most in person relationships with my peers are centered around sex and hookups. Most of my female friends are 8-12 years older than me and in their mid 30s which is not really the age group I want to be in a relationship with in case I want to have kids eventually I don't want it to have all kinds of birth defects. That being said If I wanted sex, I could easily sleep with literally hundreds of women, but peoples focus on sex without bonding or mutual interests is a huge turn off for me >>50488 Considering the fact that my sister met some guy on tinder, got into drugs and started doing porn because of influence from the www and her bf saying that its normal, I am disgusted by dating on the www. I'm really disgusted with the world. As we speak both of my neighbors are blasting soykafty rap music. All the guys are fuarrrking vapid, weed rap music and pussy, idolizing rap lifestyles and ebonics and soykaf. The women are whores and even more vapid than the guys. They're all on dating apps ruining themselves. I've had a few girlfriends who have been actually very sweet, nice and not into all that soykaf. But my current girlfriend who is a once in a lifetime catch is starting to feel distant and I fear if I lose her all that I will have left to prospect are airhead braindead whores. I was hesitant to say any of this because it reads like I'm some incel but someone please tell me there is hope for other people who value intellectualism to some extent and actually see sex as something that you should do in a relationship only. >>50710 >idolizing rap lifestyles and ebonics It's funny how you can see the evolution from the 90s to early 2000s when people first started incorporating hip hop lingo into their vocabulary like saying "yo" to nowadays where every teenager speaks fluent ebonics. Even the people who speak somewhat normally incorporate lots of groid babble into their language like "X be like" or "bruh" or "deadass", it's inescapable. Rap has also metastasized into every other genre of music whereas formerly it only ever ventured into the token rap verse in some pop songs, so foreseeably the negrification of pop culture will only continue. >I was hesitant to say any of this because it reads like I'm some incel You shouldn't care. >>50700 >frend? I feel like I know you IRL, what region are you in? I do agree that having shared experiences brings people together, but I believe there is a buddhist saying that people who go out to experience things aren't looking for enlightenment, they are looking for stimulation. In a sense I feel like the shared experience has to be a natural occurrence. People act like going to a concert, doing drugs, and getting a bunch of "friends" on snapchat is such an experience, thats just selfish. The real experiences are when you loose your map while in the woods and need to find your way out, on a boat that gets stuck in a storm, or stuck together for some natural disaster. Facing adversity as a group builds character. The military intentionally forces this on people, so they can make sure that under pressure people will do their jobs. Most young people when faced with adversity with a group of people will try to bail on the group. Think about how many kids die at parties because the other kids don't want to be the one to take them to the hospital and make sure they are OK, better to leave their "friend" alone to die than get in trouble for "breaking rules" >>50710 >I was hesitant to say any of this because it reads like I'm some incel but someone please tell me there is hope for other people who value intellectualism to some extent and actually see sex as something that you should do in a relationship only. And girls who aren't convinced that selling pictures of their hairy pussy online is empowerment. There are plenty of people just like that, some of them work blue collar jobs, and others are the kind of people you find asleep in an encyclopedia or technical book at the library because they like STEM. You could try religious cults, but they are their own crazy Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA! I have a number of female friends who are appalled by how people act so immature and careless. I like hanging out with them, but I'm really a loner, and some of them like to poke fun at me because I never ask them out. I also had a friend who refuses act interested in a girl (who is getting divorced) because he is very traditional and respects the sanctity of marriage. Despite the fact that the only thing holding her back is the fact that she doesn't want to be left alone when she does divorce her husband (to be honest I thought that she and her husband were just acquaintances when I met them. I am genuinely taken aback by how much geography and your situation plays a role in your ability to socialise. I moved for my Master's degree last week and the difference is night and day. I've gone from a city with nothing to do and virtually no avenues to meet people, to the exact opposite. You can just sit down next to someone and they'll start chatting with you and there are dozens of clubs to join even if you're not a student. If people are telling you that you're not trying hard enough to make friends when there's nothing to do where you live, they're full of soykaf. It's not your fault.

Some things I am trying (without success yet) >Doing more activities (martial arts, yoga, crypto meetups, many more to come) >Trying to find convert online communities into IRL communities--posting and replying to meetup threads here, on 4ch, in Telegram chats, etc. Some things I will probably try >Joining a church, but everywhere close to me is politicized and secularized >Online dating, but first I need good photos, which are difficult, time-consuming, and/or expensive to obtain, especially without IRL friends >Cold approaching women like on the street, but I am of course scared to do this. I am literally going to start injecting testosterone to see if that helps. Some things I fantasize about trying but probably won't >Dealing drugs to college students >Starting a street style blog--photographing random people with good style and chatting them up It just fuarrrking is like kicking dead whales down the beach, why does it have to be so hard? I'm not some loser either, I have a lot to offer.

>>50771 Not surprising. It's been found in Japan that hikkikomori are most prevalent in sleeper suburbs with nothing to do outside of going to convenience store or middle school. People who live in urban centers or at least commute there for work and study don't have loneliness or hikkikomori problem.

>>50876 Niggard have you tried acting normal for once? Do you have any hobbies you can do with other people? Find other people with your same hobby and get in touch, none of this testosterone injection drug dealing soykaf. And when I say "act normal" I mean LARP as a norman and don't act like an attention-starved basement dweller. Do literally anything that you feel'd make you feel better. Do push ups, CLEAN YOUR fuarrrkING ROOM, pick a hobby and stick with it, also stop trying to do the internet to irl thing it doesn't work since no one wants to be around the neckbeards they talk to online. Don't bother dating or approaching women since you clearly will just come off as some sort of sperg, but not a sperg-chad, a sperg-nutcase schizoid man, which is worse. Point is, you can't just spend your time 'jakkin off round here letting your social skills decay as you whine over here. Don't do anything retarded but at the same time do things that scare you. The reason I'm saying this is because if you do something retarded you'll end up looking like a retard, but if you do something that scares you you'll still look like a retard but you'll learn something because you're outside your comfort zone, hell, maybe you'll even learn a few things about life.

>>50903 I recited it rather thin, as it's almost at the end of the article and highlights that further studies are needed: >...hikikomori was found to be less common in residential areas that have many business and service industries. As these residential areas may contain diverse people and cultures, and more outdoor options and job opportunities... But also maybe because it's also where cost of living is higher, hence unaffordable to average families or hikkis living on parentbux. Hikki has no preference to live in more expensive place since it gives no immediate improvement to current situation (while wage worker might choose an expensive place if it's closer to place of work gaining more leisure time), and suburban sleeper districts (fewer businesses, more residential property, less daytime activity) are where most family households reside statistically even in Japan.

Any advice for if you're shy and a disgusting submissive male? I feel like everything I should be doing to put myself out there is the height of narcissism - that even posting about myself on an anonymous board is grounds for everyone to hate me. So I try to keep it to things where people will come to me, like making f-list profiles, technical posts, and special-interest websites. But with the first, everyone's too horny to make friends (or I'm just boring), the latter never gets anywhere because who wants to do unpaid work, and the last is doomed without advertising because nobody will read it. I don't do anything IRL, because both women and men hate submissive men, and the people who claim to be different are in it for the money or trannies. This is important because I want to be open about myself and my interests (playing a pixie in DnD, MLP:FiM, and other faggy soykaf) since just talking about safe stuff like tech kept too much distance. When I was younger, I'd make friends in games, but with age has come the desire to make things instead of waste away the time. Not to say all games are bad, just that very few innovate, and even fewer give the player the tools to do serious creative work in a multiplayer environment. Shooting the soykaf or grinding to pass the hours seems so empty to me. Maybe I'm just being demanding/unreasonable.

>>50905 You make a lot of assumptions. I’m not really soliciting basic advice, I feel I am in a good position and doing everything right despite a bad draw. >Do you have any hobbies you can do with other people? I posted several, this is what I’m doing already >Do push ups I’m jacked >Don't bother dating or approaching women since you clearly will just come off as some sort of sperg Women find me attractive and interesting, but I have a hard time meeting them in the first place >stop trying to do the internet to irl thing it doesn't work since no one wants to be around the neckbeards they talk to online No way. My online circles are ambitious crypto hackers and right wing bodybuilders, much higher quality people than I could expect to meet irl. >50904

>>50917 The world is a cruel place. I would advise to feel a lot of self-reliance and realize the mental traps of friends in the first place. Make sure you have a reason to be friends, and you'll find with most people there are no reasons to be friends. >Every friendship in itself is to be desired; but the initial cause of friendship is from its advantages.

>>50904 Photograpy is a decent way to get to talk to people, any display of art in general seems to get some people flock to you. The downside is you have to have a camera with you and do actual photography, or any other tools for art. Dont think you can do this as a hack though, people will see trough it if youre not genuinely passion about your work. >>50930 Also this seriously, you cant connect with people if there are no means to connect with.

>>50917 > narcissism everyone should feel important . only abusers and enablers use a word like that one . > come to me uu tricky , we still live in a sexist gatekeeping transphobic patriarchal world Read Ursula K Le Guin books. I have personal experience with this . I got very bitter by how much effort I put into my personality and appearance . Ultimately , you can only attract feminists who'll more than likely abuse you , if you let them . You have to struggle against them with compassion, conditioning, and information entropy. You have to learn how to generate information entropy. Essentially, you have to learn when to leave, when to return, and; how to judge others fairly. > who wants to do unpaid work people who want to have fun ! > advertising no selling your soul . network with artists and journalists , contribute to wikipedia or fandom wiki . try to start dialogues with people who have an audience. > hate submissive men what you call submissive, normal people call kept. yes, you exist. the gender equality movement exists because of people like you. hey , lain , can we be friends ? I'm destined to be someone's spouse ( another kept "man" so to speak ) one day . even though we can't have kids together lol lets make friends and discuss our ambitions okay ? you sound fun . I have a feminist whose interested in me so I need another "kept man" to talk to. I attached my email to the post .

patriarchy is only relevant as a hierarchy filled by male bodied people . patriarchy is inherently a gyno-centric and misandrist construction . there is no "household patriarch" . that is androphobic mythmaking . the world has civilization and it has society . society is where you and I want to contribute . we need to civilize our lovers to provide for us , then we need to prepare the next generation .

I've tried to hang out at a couple of the local shops where people play stuff like MtG, Yugioh, Pokemon, etc. I share similar interests with these people but our personalities always seem to clash or the ones that I really would get along with don't have the means along with myself to get together outside of these places to really connect. Also I'm always being put down based on what I have compared to them. For example, I'm always put down by these groups for not wanting to spend a bunch of money for investments in the games, or blowing money on massive consumerism as they do, and I'm also put down often because I'm a NEET who can't drive. Mainly I'm a lesser being for not being a "wage-slaving coooonsumeristic pleb who doesn't like the system nor wants to be a part of it". I'm put down for not using social media, not using a cell phone, and even when I do find someone in these groups that has interest in computing it's always wangblows and steam gaymen with them. I don't manage to get along with them either. I bring up one thing about cracking games and using WINE and I'm instantly a nutjob tinfoil. I literally had a guy stop talking to me because I wouldn't play Final Fantasy XIV with him because I didn't feel like paying a subscription fee. He called me a jobless bitch and tried to brag about how much money he wasted on retro games because I prefer to play the games I've held onto for 20+ years. There's no hope here. I'm not sure I could ever find people I could really get along with IRL. I even had a friend who was a NEET like me for 10 years and soon as he got a job he instantly forgot about me not giving a soykaf.

>>50639 Lots of people will say yes to things they don't mean, just to be polite to you. In a similar vein, many people will say "we should hang out!" to be polite, not because they want to hang out. If it were me I would have exchanged numbers the first time. Then you really know if they want to hang out or not.

>>51044 Inderasting. If I understood your post correctly - you consider being on government hand-outs as not being part of a system. Otherwise how do you survive, if you were a successful investor or recipient of a trust fund, your acquaintances wouldn't abandon you for not being conventionally employed because they all secretly desire to be NEETs, but not the poor NEETs on government handouts, but the cool NEETs with trust fund or capital investements. Regardless of your income sources you were judged by lack of visible conspicuous consumption: not only the one who owns many toys is the most successful, but also one who drives a car or spends time at job to buy these toys and maintain a car. Perhaps, you live in USA, and owning car there is just a beseline for any sort of convenient movement. Then you go to a place that sells toys for 10 year-olds and complain about it's customers not being out-of-system free-thinkers. Suggestion: participants of a generative hobby/lyfestyle, not a consumerist one would judge your shallow appearances and weird lifestyle less. Example: dumpster diving is a creative hobby that generates additional income and provides source of edible vegetables and dairy, furniture and electronic equipment. Entrance barrier is very low, and by looking poorer you get low profile when earning your second million after selling your hard-earned goods to people online.

>>51044 It's not the fact that you don't spend money or consome or whatever the hell. It's the fact that you're living in basically soykaf conditions like a NEET and probably dress and act like one, even subconsciously. Also you probably live in the states where people unironically think DRM and copy protections are a good thing.
