tnev / let it all in #2 Primate Solidarity Edition The pasta: In this thread we tell happy things, jokes, and other stuff that can raise one's mood. It is the opposite of vent. So what made you smile lately lains?

>>49610 >So what made you smile lately A great source of enjoyment I have is looking through people's personal websites; many sites have articles with interesting subjects and it's just nice to see how the admin customized their site to reflect themselves. I personally find personal websites via looking through various webrings, and I very much recommend it. I might start my own one day for others to find.

So let me start: today I found a research institute that I want to work at that happens to be in Europe. I'm happy because I don't need to move out to the USA anymore.

>>49610 That image made me laugh my ass off. I'm drunk and all, but still, that image made me laugh my ass off. Did the anime ever show the backside though? I thought the metal part that held it up was just basically a wire hanger and not part of the machine. I like being able to see the back in any case of that bastardization of a Mac Tam. I've wanted to make a model of the thing and put my pi in it for a fair amount of time so knowing how the back looks when I can't stand to sit through all that surrealism more than once. It was artistic and all but I felt as though there was no plot. Anyway, and to be perfectly honest, the last thing that made me laugh was the comic relief in the USA version of Being Human. Josh is rather funny. Nothing in particular though.

WEW second /tnev/ thread! Only 24 more and we'll finally catch up to /vent/! In here we share good things that happened, happy stories, things of that nature. I'll start. >decide to try a dating app because w/e I have a burner phone number lying around and I can just use the website >have kinda crappy photos because I don't take photos of myself >get a bunch of matches anyway >one girl in particular chats with me all day, she's sexy, intellectual, and a little odd >she seemed surprised and flattered that I asked her out, despite the fact that she most definitely has hundreds of quality guys lining up to meet her >alright, been here before, she's a manic pixie type, she'll get way too attached before we meet, we'll rush into bed, and then I'll never see her again >actually she says we should save future conversation for our date >overall she's acting surprisingly mature, most of the other girls on the app text like they're still in high school huh, for the first time in 3 years I have a hot date lined up and it wasn't even hard. I'm even cautiously optimistic it'll go well. Guess that goes to show that sometimes good soykaf just happens.

The Oracle · 2021-09-19 09:51
/tnev/ #2.5 perhaps? I found a bunch of old image folders from 2015-2017. It sounds silly, but it's almost like I viewed a semi-complete snapshot of my personality, views and interests at the time. It sure made me remember a few things, good and bad, nice and sad. I'm now torn as to whether I should delete these files or keep them for memories' sake. These are mostly reaction images, art, memes and the like. Here's a nice picture from there. Have lainons experienced anything like this?

>>50228 Sometimes when this happens, it makes me feel a sort of happy/melancholy because I see how naive I used to be--it used to be so easy to make me laugh, or I used to like the weirdest music, or I used to have ridiculous views. But one time I found a note that I had left for my future self that had a tremendous impact on me. First, it revealed to me just how cynical/bored/unhappy/aimless I had become in contrast to my past self who had hope and ambition. Second, it gave me a weird philosophical sort of impression, that I can only describe as "that person that wrote that note is me, and I am me." I guess it revealed to me that I have the potential to change significantly, that I am not stuck as whatever kind of person I happen to be right now. Since then, I have felt a much greater sense of agency in my life. I sort of got off track from the initial subject, but I would say that if any of these files are bad for you morally, in the sense that they discourage you, bring back bad habits, etc. delete those, but keep the other ones so you can remember where you came from. You can always delete them later, but you can't get them back.

>>50228 Yep, I have a folder that i've devided into few smaller folders each named after a year where I collect stuff from the net since 2016. I thought I lost it when I purged my drive in 2020 but I found a copy of it on my laptop this year. I was more careful than I thought after all. Honestly it's mostly cringe. I had the personality I would despise nowdays but I would be lying if it didn't make me nostalgic. I remember watching these webms of music from halfchan's /wsg/ when I was thinking about my crush back then. I got a new room for myself at home. I tried to get into drawing semi competently. Can't believe that was a half decade ago already. I am happy with trying lot of stuff even If I was soykaf back then. Made me able to control my life more instead of letting it control me. I am keeping the folder. It's a nice memory stone to have. Now I am remebering a sunny day when the class ended and my friends were throwing each other in bushes. Weirdly somewhere in 2018 or so time seemed to have stopped working to me. Everything feels never changing but also instant. Oh well, there's at least hope I'll get out of it soon. Was good to think about old times though

>>50228 for me , I had no one to entrust the hard-drives . many images I no for a fact no longer exist online , so on that premise alone such a collection could have historical significant lain . you should share more of the lovely images .

>>50228 Just yesterday, yeah. I was digging through my old /b/ folder from the 00s and found a bunch of rage comics I made back in high school. The original 4-panel format too, not the Reddit style with walls of text and all those dumbass faces. Most of them were unrelatable or relied on a couple sentences to describe what was going on, but there were a handful that were okay. Like one about getting bombarded with items in Mario Kart. Or your cat running in front of you and tripping you while you're carrying food. Or spending all weekend on the internet, only to remember at the last minute that you had a project due Monday.

I went out on Friday and had a good time. There were many pretty ladies. One spoke to me who was gorgeous but I think I was too drunk to hold a good conversation. Kinda wish I got her number at least but Im glad that things are more open and I feel like going out again after all this lockdown nonsense thats gone on so long. Maybe Ill meet her again.

Is anyone else treated like nothing more than a physical barrier by most people? Any attempt at interaction (even basic eyecontact) is entirely ignored by almost everyone. The most attention I get in an average day is someone saying "oops" before they almost bump into me. It's really frustrating because at least when I was a little kid my peers would actually correct me on what I was doing so wrong, even if it was in a less-than-pleasurable manner. Is this just normal behavior for adults or am I correct in my assumption? I'm not particularly ugly, I'm tall, I'm moderately intelligent, but yet I'm still doing something wrong and I have absolutely no idea what it could possibly be.
