The Hermitic life

Spooky · 2021-06-25 00:01
Very asocial, come from a very asocial family, I can "socialise" just fine and even do it really well but I just have absolutely no enjoyment doing so. I have mostly given up trying to fit into society, not because I couldn't, but because I just derive no pleasure or meaning from it. Really I just wanna become a recluse, but I also do not wanna be completely cut off from everyone. Having a girlfriend, maybe a friend or two and a job where I have a max of 5 coworkers (ideally even fewer) with working hours different than the usual 9-5 (afternoon or nighttime, don't care) would be perfect. But quite frankly I only have some vague ideas on how to achieve this. Could anyone here help me out with some of this? What are the best nighttime/afternoon jobs? (preferably in a STEM sector). How do I "meet" other people who do not really wanna be very active in this society? Any other things I should know? etc. Anything goes really

>>46682 I'm on the same boat. I just don't know anymore. I would like to commit suicide but i don't want to hurt my dad. At the same time, i think if i keep living like a neet i'll just end up causing him even more pain, so it might just be better to do it sooner rather than later. I'm turning 21 this year and i'm not really sure on what to do with my life.

>>46958 neet is becoming the norm so you wouldn't be specially bad. Italy has now 38% neets in the 19-29 bracket. Shouldnt be a reason to get lazy but should relax you even if you do end up in that bracket. That said 21 is university age. Arent you studying? If done with bachelor just extend a master but make sure you take a degree that has demand. Ive got friends who ended up walmart with perfect grades cause their degree was stem but in a niche nobody needed.

>>46962 >neet is becoming the norm Really? I know the job market of today is like kicking dead whales down the beach, but is it that bad? I wonder how long we have until this system collapses.
Sabo Engle · 2021-06-29 11:11
>>46963 No reason it should collapse. Gastronomy, tourism, fitness got killed and thats a huge amount of jobs that wont find reemployment but the foundation for survival - food, energy, logistics work as usual. The ratio of people supplying society with the bare necessities remains stable. The way its going they will simply keep feeding you the bare minimum so you can peacefully rot away instead of staging a civil war.

>>46962 I'm from Southern Europe so being a neet is not that unusual. Regarding to studying, i hate it. Not because i don't like learning, but i can't into math. I can't focus, and when i look at a piece of paper with numbers i just panic, i get social anxiety for some reason. Getting a meme degree is pointless imo, and i'm to stupid to do math.
Tyrell Wellick · 2021-06-29 23:59
>>47002 just work your way up and start really at the most basic elementary level. Its not like anyone is judging you. Most people who get mental blocks with math simply never learned the fundamentals, memorization is garbage, you need understanding. Even if you skip a degree you cant do anything in modern life without math. You need at least % and statistics to avoid getting scammed.

>>47002 not all stem needs math. programming is often a more fun way to learn similar concepts because it is more interactive and not wrapped up in arcane symbols.
Lain Iwakura · 2021-06-30 13:02
>>47002 You might have discalculus, im no psychologist but this would be the obvious guess. Maybe try math without number, such as lambda calculus or try some alternative notation of math that doesnt make it look like math. >>46963 I think there is a significant polarization among young people after the rona. The psychological problems of the lockdowns are showing up hard and of course nobody really cares. Neets, bums and other people who dont like the system will not shrink in numbers i think. My personal advice here to everyone, make yourself a retreat, find a good place where nobody is going to go and set up some sort of dweling maybe with a garden. Do it real guerilla like so nobody catches on and got a quitet comfy spot to do whatever, whenever. Try to think of it as a natural art project.

Grimes says "calculate the entropy" and "keep me lonely". Hermits of yore , studied systems in seclusion . formulating strategies for shock and awe , to change those systems . will the Internet create permanent static change or merely an acceleration of the change already common .

I hear a cybernetics carries on the legacy of Hermeticism .

>>46958 being a 21 year old neet isn't that bad in all honesty, you are still comparatively young even if it doesn't feel like it

Read the Chronology of Ancient Kingdoms Revised , then talk about the Hermetic life lol

>>46958 me too, if i didnt have a family who loves me i think i would have done it too. life is really a big burden most of te time

>>46682 i dunno about stem, but maybe you could do night shifts as a security guard? From what i heard from others doing the same, it pays well enough, theres not a lot going on, and it lets you avoid socializing too much. Also, it is a pretty secure branch, as people grow concerned with the safety of themselves and their business, so it should be a stable job for the next 20 years. Furthermore, having experience in the security sector opens up possibilities in further security and even mercenary work, if that's something you would even consider.
