What are some of your quirks?

Pris · 2021-01-31 04:10
By "quirks" I'm not talking mental/physical illnesses, just things you do that you find odd compared to the rest of the general population. Some of mine were/are: >wasn't able to talk to females without locking up from 5th-9th grade >constantly close my door just to be sure >reinstalling my os every month

>bite fingernails compulsively >make sound effects when I'm nervous ex. going 'pew' when setting something down, 'fwoosh' when picking something up >Audibly laugh and grin when nervous (usually while making sound effects) >constantly check behind me when I'm outside because I'm paranoid Just a few I can remember there's probably more

>>39193 I also periodically turn around while walking without breaking stride to check what's behind me, it must be more common than I thought

>>39123 >bite my nails >make coffee and leave cups of coffee around the house (4 cups per room) and dont even drink the coffee >turn my brightness all way in my monitor and wear my sunglasses >wake up in the middle of the night to buy a monster and convince myself that there are shadows following me >covered every logo of all the devices I own with duct tape >randomly say oeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii when am energized >drop my ciggarettes on the floor for my future self I dont know why I do these things.

I speak and write in an archaic dialect of English which is a mix of middle and modern English, most prominently using forms of "thou" and the archaic second-person singular declension "-est", along with using "ye" as the true nominative case of the second-person plural pronoun. I also refuse to use "they" as anything but plural. I do this because I've learned enough about other languages to know that English's pronoun system has been greatly disturbed. To talk to normal people, I find ways to speak which entirely avoid second-person pronouns and other issues I've decided to reverse in how I use English. When writing software, I write the non-standard libraries myself, as a learning exercise, and also to own the licensing and interfaces I use. I know, were I to list these quirks along with others of mine, that I'd be connected to them, so I'll be listing those other quirks in a later post. I'm not comfortable until I check a room, to ensure there be nothing lying in wait. In one of my previous bouts of employment, I'd fun staying in the building until all else were gone, which was perfectly legal; I enjoyed telling family there was a monster walking down those halls, and it was me. I could continue listing, but this is more than enough. >>39193 >>39206 I as well. This is but instinctive in an unsafe environment.

>>39215 >I'd fun staying in the building until all else were gone I suppose I should clarify I'd usually stay unto the early morning, when doing this, so it was pitch black.

>bite nails and eat them. including toenails >pick my nose and eat the mucus. i like those big flat bloody pieces >rub my skin and eat the grey goo that accumulates I don't know why I do this. I'm single btw

>Walk around the house talking to myself when I'm bored. >Shake my legs a lot I used to bite my fingernails and lips but I stopped now and my nails are pretty and my lips are healing.
Cereal Killer · 2021-02-02 15:21
I tend to twirl and pull my hair, it's to the point where I'm bald in certain parts of my head.

>>39215 I think the older English dialect is what gives a lot of old writing that sort of magic, like Shakespeare and the KJV Bible, a part of me wishes people still spoke like that today, though I'm sure that's just romanticization
John Rain · 2021-02-03 04:36
>Talk to myself (only when no one is around and I'm feeling particularly bad) >Used to cut >Walk around when I'm nervous/deep in thought. Cannot sit down during either of these times. >Bite nails when anxious (not really that uncommon) That's all of my powerlevel you get.

>>39247 >Damn Soviets, uglifying my English and my architecture! Let's not derail this into politics, though.
Bob Arctor · 2021-02-03 09:55
>>39249 That's not quite what I meant. The Soviets (ie a subset of the Jews) were very into "cybernetics". They knew that you could rearrange people's internal world by controlling their external environment. Hence, the rise of uniform and grey high density housing. Everyone with the same balcony, everyone with the same radio in the wall, and so on. When you uglify the external, it is a direct attack on the internal. The two are coupled. People become their environment, especially when they're incapable of changing it, as they are today. The population is rendered cattled to be warehoused as efficiently as possible. That's not to say the USSR didn't have its share of accomplishments (even after the mass externimation of anyone who so much as had a pair of glasses), but that's just how it is. Not going to get into the "antiquitech" ideas either, that these may be doing something more than it would first appear. Really, though in childhood it may be different, you just have to look at Gothic architecture and you cannot help but admit that it is completely alien to the modern mind. As though it was built by another species. Now we just throw up a piece of soykaf box and throw some plastic on the outside. Where I live there is Victorian and Gothic architecture sitting right next to modern houses, and there really is no comparison. The entire societal organizational structure which can only produce the latter is without a doubt reprehensibly inferior. Check out the castle in this video as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqVs_dUgTKM If I recall the footage was taken from a 1920's Czech film.
