Cool things to do in the US?
Unknown · 2020-12-28 06:09
I recently moved back from Korea after working there for a few years, and even if much wasn't going on it always felt like and adventure even just exploring nooks and crannies of Seoul. The contrast with American urban sprawl has left me feeling underwhelmed and bored. There's not really interesting urban places to walk around even in large cities. Where does your sense of wonder take you here?

What region are you in? No specific details needed, just curious. Because depending on where you are the most you'll have going on is nature, maybe abandoned bits of urban decay if you don't mind running into a bum every once in a while.
I feel the sane way whenever I return to the US. And I'm not even a US native so I'm pretty sure it's not familiarity numbing me.

Yeah, the way your question is worded implies that you don’t realize how big the US is. There are actually plenty of urban places to walk around even if it isn’t at the level of Seoul.
Thinking the US isn’t interesting is actually just buying into the bizarre self hating worldview of a particular subset of Americans more than anything. Millions visit for tourism every year.

You can't have fun in the US anymore. Enjoy.

I enjoy graveyards. They're well kept and tranquil. A lot of history can be covered in a few steps.

You need to narrow your search for cool things in your nearest city for most stuff since cool things vary on a state-to-state basis. Try to find people who share your interests, visit a gun range that does rentals, do some research on your area's history.

Seoul is a unique city. You're not going to find the same kind of magic here. But you can find a different kind of magic. Thinking about comparative advantage, you should get into conversations with people on the street here. It's easier to do than most other countries, and there are a lot of uniquely American people here.

Check out the Wyoming-Idaho-Montana area. It's very nice if you're into nature or just Tedpilled.

This! I love visiting the rental gun ranges from time to time and trying out pistols and rifles. I have an upper receiver and already backordered a completed lower receiver for an AR15.

Is the rural reality of America still alive and untouched by retardation?

no, there are plenty of retards out there.

it is, obviously there are downsides to this as well. the people are simpler but it's honestly better than dealing with the current neoliberal bot that infests urban areas. you do give up certain comfotrts and stuff but you absolutely can go small town/rural still.

I give you that there's a lot of interesting places in America, especially in terms of natural wonders and select areas of certain cities. But there's no denying that American culture has taken a concerted effort to not building public spaces and destroying ones we currently have. OP didn't explain where in the US they are. But, if they moved into a soykafty suburb in heroin counrty I could easily understand their feelings. There are no sidewalks where I live. My "city" has over 50,000 people in it yet it would take me literal hours to walk to a library while dodging tweakers going over 40mph. There's no public space, If you're not buying something you might as well not even be real here. If you don't have a car you're screwed.
