I recently stumbled upon this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A92oHHjHwr ("whatever you say b**mer | tik tok cringe compilation").
I have no idea why I watched it, but I did. Turn of the sound and it's even sadder.
Some just dismiss this as arrogance or stupidity, but it was painful for me, because I recognized my younger sister in it, and the path she has taken over the last year.
It's difficult loosing someone that's close to you, and even though we see each other every day, this kind of personality is so repulsive to me that I can't recognize her anymore.
There's not much I can say, I just hope that it is a phase, and that T*kT*k gets derezzed for good.

Did I do the right thing?
I started college not too long ago and I feel depressed as hell here, I am knee-deep in debt and I feel like no matter where I go somebody here is trying to squeeze more cash out of me, thankfully I got some aid and scholarships, but it's still putting a giant strain on me. It doesn't help that it feels like in my classes I've already covered everything that's being taught here or it's absolute fuarrrking nonsense, I soykaf you not in my English class we had to write about a whiny pansy who has panic attacks about not being able to live in their perfect utopian world and we had to write about how much we liked it and what the most "powerful" point of it was. The thing that hurts the most is the loneliness, this place is freaking dead most of the time, I usually don't see any more than 10 or 12 people in one room at once, even in the dining hall where people get and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in the photo I included, sometimes there's nobody there at all and it's just me eating in an empty room I blacked out anything that could dox me.. I split ways with my friends and chose to live here for my future and to prove to myself that I could survive on my own, but now, I am questioning if I really made the right decision. I feel frustrated and depressed here, I just hope it gets better sometime, hopefully, if corona restrictions ever end things can get better.

I feel like people hugely underestimate the value of some kind of external validation, and I think it's because they usually get it.
I've been feeling quite awful this year, but I'm much, much happier now knowing that there's someone who likes talking to me. Not just that, but they'll do it for hours, and they initiate conversations with me. There is another human being that likes me based solely off who I am, and it's making me question my perceived flaws. Maybe my problems don't just start and end with me.

>Ok, but who profits from that?
Plenty of people do.
The users get to consume entertainment which they themselves create, and the creators may get the opportunity to indirectly monetize their content;
Advertising companies and other third parties get more material to datamine;
Shops get to target the potential buyer with better precision;
Politicians and activists get a platform with a massive, predominantly young audience, which is now conditioned to consume information that is under 280 characters or 16 seconds in length;
Cultural powerhouses have an easier time monitoring trends and what is mainstream, and potentially shaping the general mindset in a way that would allow to make more profit.
Just off the top of my head.

Just consider that right now she's probably screwing a football team. The guy whose wife got back to him after a breakup wanted to do exactly that. I've been on that football team, too. First thing women do after breaking up is screw all the people on their bucket list, and I've been on that bucket list. Then they go back to their boyfriend, who's something like you who doesn't cut ties after a breakup. This isn't something that happens, it's planned. They go fuming with rage. What? I thought this guy was going to be dependent judging by how badly he was taking it, and now he's cutting me off? Suddenly they call me names, they're mad because they lost a resource they thought they could keep. They're not going to enjoy the next guy they'll screw as much, and they're mad.
It's quite absurd that someone who breaks up with you also cares so fuarrrking much about keeping you around as a friend, so much that you have to chase them away so they'll leave you alone. The intentions become clear once you understand human mating. This is a game played by selfish genes and you're just a bag of parental investment.

It's good to pick a genetically better male, but it is wise to keep you around just in case the genetically better male runs away.

I am dead set on avoiding this and life is still meaningless. The truth is that you need a place in the world to find meaning, and there is no other place in this world other than that of a prosumer. It's exactly what you described, wake up, work, go home, buy something, sleep. There is no God, no higher meaning left except money. This is a world ruled by evil, as it always was, but this time in an open, unabashed way. Human beings finally embraced what they really are, demonic world-devouring insects with no conscience and no soul.
But sadly you are one of them, as I am, and your role strictly depends on your brain's architecture. You can't swap your demonic locust brain for something better, so no matter what you choose there will be suffering. Embrace evil or rebel against it and watch yourself fall apart.

love is pretty good, yeah. Love is satisfaction of a simple animal urge, one of the most powerful there is, restricting access to love and sex is one of the ways in which evil society controls individuals(better have money or you will never get laid or married!! How do I love anybody when people want me dead for not being compliant? There is no way to be inserted in society and find "love" except total compliance. Outside of this circuit you're a burden and you're not told directly to kill yourself, but gently given a push towards the idea. Life becomes an automated customer service call trying to waste your time and annoy you as much as possible until you give up and hang up. You should do some self-analysis. There's a difference between feeling you are right and knowing you are. Try to record yourself while talking and listen back to a made up conversation. It could be that you're really hard to follow or you explain yourself poorly.
It's hard to be constantly wrong on everything you decide to speak about unless you're plain retarded, and even then people will not go out of their way to tell you. It's probably a language or behavioral thing. It could also be that it's all in your head and your perception is skewed.

I think there's also a knowledge barrier, either I misremember things or I misunderstand some topic (normally because I've never talked about it with someone because until recently I haven't talked to people at length)
The Oracle · 2020-08-24 21:03

Do you speak up about topics just because you have a snippet of information and you feel like you need to add it to the conversation because it's there? Sometimes it happens and as you said you might misremember or inflate the facts. This is the same mechanism behind one-upping people which is universally annoying. When I remember a vague factoid somewhere and I feel like it adds to the conversation I usually try to make it clear that I am not sure, e.g. "I read somewhere that ... is that true?" I express things as facts when I have actual hard data or reliable sources. It could be that maybe you try to monopolize the conversation. If you have a close friend or family members you trust you should straight up ask, you will get a straight answer.

The best way to go around that is having a curious mindset and actually listening to what people say. You're probably discounting or trivializing it subconsciously. If you are concerned with finding something to add or something to challenge you're burning through too many stages, try to probe for information and if someone says something you disagree with try to understand the angle they're coming from. Especially with people who haven't accepted you in their social circle, treating the conversation like an academic back and forth is mostly fruitless since it needs to be a two-way thing.

I finally met with my friend after long time, but this somehow made me sad in the end.
Everyone has a life but me, everyone is having fun but me, everyone is having parties and is traveling but me.
I wish people spent more time with me, I wish she spent more time with me, I wish I could protect her, but she keeps doing all these dangerous things.
I feel so unimportant and hopeless.
I don't want to lose the only human on this planet that makes me happy, everyone else feels like a bot.
Why is everything changing? The world took away everything that is dear to me, I don't want to lose her too.
It took away places I connected my good memories with, it took away my friends.

I distrust the concept of "childhood trauma", unless it refers to something particularly gruesome, like rape or physical abuse in general, witnessing death or mutilation etc.
Regardless, I've been wondering if I may have childhood trauma too. I've never experienced any physical abuse, nor have I ever seen anything traumatizing in my tender years, and yet, I can tell that the majority of the problems that I experience now have their roots in my childhood, and stem not from physical, but from mental abuse.
I've always found the majority of mental health and psychological issues to be rather hazy and a lot like astrology in how they're recognized and diagnosed. Having stumbled upon some videos about narcissistic and helicopter parents, and having read through some forums dedicated to people who suffer/suffered from such parenting, I felt genuinely anxious, but understanding and understood.
I wish there was a way to easily fix all of these issues.

You can approach this from the observations on neural networks. The learning rate from new experiences is the greatest on a blank slate. The more data is accumulated the less impact new data has. Childhood has a huge impact because you can set basic biases with your first experiences on the whole -1 to 1 scale while new experiences in adulthood merely shift it in the 0.01 range.

I'd consider this not so much "idiotic" as "impractical" and "non-conforming". You can be considered an idiot only insofar as "common sense" is used as the yardstick, and it's extremely unreliable for many reasons.
Going against the mainstream makes you an idiot in the eyes of people who are a part of that mainstream. Would their evaluation persist as correct if you were to step back and logically/philosophically assess it and then explain your point of view? It wouldn't.
>Am I really more free, will I reap any rewards in the long term?
People like you are, at least in my opinion, more knowledgeable about the many alternatives to the mainstream and thus freer than a "common sense" person is.
As for the rewards you may reap: authenticity. You will be who you are, you will choose beliefs according to your personal preference and/or their rationality or perhaps create your own, rather than be what is expected of you and tailor your values according to what is currently mainstream.
>The more I go on the more this looks like societal suicide.
Modern day culture and society are more tolerant of "aberrant" behavior than ever, the mainstream isn't as permeating and dominant anymore in a lot of spheres, and at the same time it has become so vague and all-encompassing that things that don't belong to the mainstream may be seen as reminiscent of it/as its extension and thus acceptable. So generally speaking, being non-conforming, having obscure interests and so forth isn't social suicide, unless you get too carried away.
>>31159
>neurosuggesting people don't crave for idiocy. People want to be idiots today. They want to be a stupid peace of meat with easy thinking provided by nanny states/bigcorpo.
People want to be accepted. People want to be entertained. It just so happens that when these two factors are combined you get shallow and easy-to-spread ideas, which, when given a platform they can effectively proliferate on, become cultural equivalent of cancer: they mutate and spread, they kill and feed off ideas that don't fit the mold and/or oppose the mainstream. Big corporations and governments, while they certainly have the capacity to engineer entire trends and their own mainstream, usually simply ride the wave people themselves create, and then inject some of their agenda into it. It's more natural this way, and less direct.
People don't want to be stupid pieces of meat with easy thinking provided by the state or corporations, they want to have fun and be a part of a group, and in that complacency, shallow view of the world lies their idiocy.

Your issue with WhatsApp has nothing to do with WhatsApp. Phones have all sorts of built-in do not disturb settings that you can use. If you chitchat with people instead of something productive it's not the software's fault. In fact, wasting time on image boards is pretty much the same thing except you are not even forming social connections. I know for sure that I would never give my contact to anybody on this site. Nobody here will become my friend or anything like that.
Usually this kind of attitude where you deprive yourself of convenient or pleasurable things has the final aim of making you feel better. What is it in not using software that covers 90% of digital human interaction that makes your life inherently better? As I said, the problems that people usually talk about have nothing to do with the software or websites.

Because it sends you a notification when you receive a message? You can turn that off.
I know that the software is "addictive" but it doesn't point a gun to your head. You can turn most of the attention-grabbing stuff off. The issue here is willpower, not the apps.
>Also you dont form connections on whatsapp, you merely use it for already existing connections
Same thing, you are getting things done with people who belong in your actual life. What kind of bonds will you form on Lainchan? What did this translate into for you, in your real life, in the things that matter?
>and its still inferior to direct irl contact.
Lainchan or any other form of digital communication is also inferior to direct irl contact. The question is how do you get to direct irl contact if you cut yourself off the services that 99.9% of people use in meatspace?
People always comment on my weird e-mail address and I have to spell it out. They ask if I have WhatsApp, I don't have it. They give me a Facebook page and I say I don't have Facebook. Those doors are closed the moment I say "I'm not on it, sorry". I don't even bother telling them I'm on Signal or some ultra-obscure app that I would have to spell out twice. Yes they're dumb illiterate normal people, they're also the people I have access to IRL. Those people used to be friends, girlfriends, people I worked with. Now? Nothing. Meanwhile nobody on the internet will give a soykaf about me, nobody on the internet will help me, nobody on the internet will form a bond with me and build something with me. And vice versa, I will never be really relevant or helpful to anybody over the internet. How do I help people here? Send them money? The only people who are relevant online are advertisers, narcissists and attention seekers. And the only reason why people love being online so much is because they can wear a mask over their ugly mug.
What is all this for? What can you build in your life by doing this? Will it matter one day that Google or the NSA or whatever have 5% or 15% or 35% or 65% of your data instead of 100% do you even know how effective you are at lowering that number?
I know this is all wrong but many things that are necessary to live are wrong, we do them because we set our priorities and decide which of these wrong things we do matter the most. It's usually about putting all the variables on the scales. How much does all this effort and all these missed opportunities weigh?

Note i also never said you gonna get irl friends here. All i said is your social network friends that you dont do irl soykaf with are equally loose. Having people in a contact list on call doesn't mean they are more inclined to help you with money or whatever. Just observe the people who hit the fan and how much help they get. Maybe you're right that irl is just the same, but it's impossible to form bonds on the internet or build anything meaningful today. It doesn't work like a bridge from person to person anymore, it's just TV. And the only relationship is from an entertainer to a consumer or a seller to a consumer. I've been strictly online for 6, 7 years and this is all I see now. And the only people who actually get help online are people who don't need it. There's so much fake soykaf and lies online and people hiding everything they can for their own convenience... You don't know who you're talking to. It's also there IRL but you can't fake it that much. If you say you are poor but you live in a three story house you can't fake it. It comes up. Bullshit. We live in a world that is hyper-aware of "privilege" so you need to say you are/were poor while broadcasting that you are rich, or claim that your climb to riches was 100% self-made when everyone knows it's bullshit. It's a matter of self-advertising and virtue signaling. People discovered that casual, candid lies work so much better than the formal, acted-out artifice of TV and that's all they do now. It's become a thing with common folk, it's how people present themselves. Social media is nothing but this, you can now enhance your self-image like TV used to enhance its products. People were always aware that judging people by the way they dressed or the things they owned is vile, but now you can simply pretend and your status will self-select you through the upper rungs of society.
>Meaning is just a subjective value judgement.
I know I have hit a wall when I read a sentence like this, when people bring up this moral relativism crap I know they're an empty shell. Meaning is not subjective. People know exactly what it is, they just see it as an obstacle because they're evil, so in a very modern fashion they just lie and pretend it doesn't exist with "moral relativism".
>Also mass adoption merely pushed the old user type to the side but it didnt kill them off. The only thing that really changed is it got harder to find the good stuff.
More relativistic bullshit. You really love lying do you? I am sure that you could build a rocket and go to the moon, technically it's just "harder" than buying your own Space Shuttle, it's not impossible. Will you legitimately tell me that I can fly to the moon? Are you really going to tread the line between "impossibly difficult" and "impossible"? It's a complete and total lie to think that a change of scale this vast doesn't create a different situation. People gain privilege through daring to represent themselves. If we could just admit that—holy ѕһіt—we want to gain good things for ourselves and will fight others to have them. I've been actively keeping a diary for over two years now. I document my thoughts, dreams and any personal events that I find important. I'm reading through it now.
It's disappointing that a lot of the problems I struggled with two years ago (and prior to that, too) are still here with me.
Regardless, I've gotten better, that's for sure. I've become more open with my emotions, I learned more about myself, my family, my relationships with them and other people in my life; my mental health has improved somewhat, my social anxiety is much less of an issue now, my depression isn't as big of an issue as it used to be - I do still feel pretty miserable and often fantasize about ending it all, more so than I once did, it seems, but it brings me less mental anguish.
Right now, I want to be independent and live my life. I've been trying to fulfil other people's wishes and live up to their expectations at the expense of my well-being for far too long.
I hope I can get better and live a relatively happy life someday.

It's definitely a pain to tell someone a hard truth about themselves. It's alienating. Unless they're exceptionally emotionally mature, they'll probably lash back out towards you for a while until they go through their stages of grief. And I mean... if they were really that mature, they probably wouldn't need somebody to intervene for them and point out their problems.
But people who have the bluntness or guts to do that are very rare. People who care enough to put forth the effort are rarer still. It's a good mix of honesty and boldness and compassion, and you should be proud to have it. I know sometimes it simply comes from being ineloquent or having no filter, but still—give yourself some credit.
I know that's hardly a consolation when it costs you a relationship anyway. But consider that if things worked out for the better for them after you broke them the bad news and they've had time to reflect and process what really happened and the tough love you gave—sometimes the alienation isn't from resentment anymore. It might just be a bit embarrassed after some time and space.
They've already burdened you with this thankless task, probably said some hurtful things they didn't mean (or maybe just callous and distant) and don't know if they deserve to waltz back and make up. Have you reached out to them and told them you still care about them and think about them? That you still value the relationship if it could still be shared, presuming they don't hate you and you truly don't have lingering resentment towards them either?
Sometimes they still don't wanna hear from you and I'm sorry if I'm blowing smoke up your ass. But it's worth checking if it's just a cold tension or lack of communication which might be an assumption on both your parts that the other is still upset. Do it gently and be prepared to actually take no for an answer if that's in the cards, but do check once it has had some time to work itself out.
Anyway that's my spiel. Honest but earnest and caring friends who say what's on their mind are something everyone needs. Because they're so rare. Most people are so reflexively non-confrontational that they never tell anybody more than they wanna hear. Ever. That is the vast majority. Don't get me wrong, it can be bizarre and unnerving too and it's often a hassle from your POV. I'm sorry you gotta go through that. Maybe make sure you're not going too far and being an asshole. Just examine your actions from as objective a view as you can muster and ask several people straight up: "am I kind of a dick?" If so, that's fixable. Just be sure to set your ego aside for a moment. Especially if you don't really think you're egotistical. It can be sneaky.
But don't lose your honesty and the instinct to do the right thing when it's difficult. It'll cost you some friends along the way, but later on it's the kind of person the realest and most reliable people want to keep around long-term. If you can reign it in when necessary. The friends that stay will grow deeper than the yes-men ever manage to make—even though they don't make any enemies.
Hope this isn't too saccharine or patronizing. I think people need a good pump-up when they're doubtful about the value of who they are. Your qualities are most likely pretty good. If they're not and you're a filthy schlong, it's probably fixable with a bit of humble self-reflection and sincerity. Don't throw out what makes you powerful and valued along with the parts that are difficult to put up with. You ultimately can't do that anyway, and it just hurts everyone when you try.
You develop and learn how to utilize yourself—if only because it's impossible to ever run away from yourself. You don't deny or escape. Once you deal with that it'll be easier to get rid of the dark fog and dedicate more energy into making it work your way. Ask yourself every now and then if you're exerting your own agency and will upon your life, or if you're just being what other people want and letting yourself get swept along with the current. Obviously you can't exert will over everything all the time, but make sure there's some important things that you decided and wanted all on your own. I know sometimes it's hard to know what you really want, but during those times it's not really so important to get it right on the first try: just make sure you're not letting yourself live for someone else's goals all the time while you're waiting around trying to figure it out. That'll burn up years.
Go ask if you're still good with that person. Tell them you say stupid things that come out wrong, but your intentions are good. Alright, this went on a tangent. My modafinil is just kicking in. That's why I make all these fuggin walls of text on lainchan. Whoops.

Yes, I'm still waiting for response though.
>Most people are so reflexively non-confrontational that they never tell anybody more than they wanna hear.
That's cruel, are those even called friends?
I mean I think my friend has a problem with alcohol, recently she even told me she smokes with her "friends".
She tells me about the things I consider problems like it was something cool. None of them really ever told her something is wrong? It is hard to believe for me.
Either I'm overreactive, or she doesn't have real friends besides me.
>Maybe make sure you're not going too far and being an asshole.
I wrote a wall of text telling her I was sad when I heard she had started smoking and that I cared and worried about her.
I also mentioned the alcohol problem - this is the second time I did this, the first time she was mad at me and told me she was strong and wouldn't fall in addiction. I stopped mentioning this until now.
>But don't lose your honesty and the instinct to do the right thing when it's difficult.
Thanks lain, I feel a bit better now.
>Go ask if you're still good with that person. Tell them you say stupid things that come out wrong, but your intentions are good.
I did already. I'm waiting now.
I think she has difficult personality. She's popular and easily attracts people, so she can easily pick those who do things exactly as she wants it.
That's why, I think, she can easily avoid people like me and any form of criticism, letting her immaturity grow.
She probably doesn't like herself either - once I asked her if she liked to clone herself, she told me she wouldn't stand having to deal with herself.
Sorry if I fuarrrked my English, reported speech isn't fun.

I am such a weakminded insecure guy, lains.
I get jealous of my friends all the time, and I hate myself for this. Well, the worst part is that the person doesn't even need to be a FRIEND friend, it happens with people a barely know too. I'm I'm just too afraid that the person forgets me or replace me for someone funnier or ''better'', it feels like I wanna play a important (if not the most important) rola in everybody else's life all the time, like the one, the irreplaceble, the funnier, the most confortable to talk to, the most helpful, etc. I guess I just wanna be important, and all people do as well, but... Well, I everybody kinda feels like that sometimes, but with me it's definetly out of proportion, it's childish and makes me feel bad. I wish I were more detached, but at least I can hide it pretty well cause if I didn't... God, I would be utterly annoying.

You need to break out of your self-centered narrative, things dont and never will revolve around only you and people arent constantly thinking about you. Most mistakes you make will go unnoticed or will be a thing of the moment to joke about and then be easily forgotten.
Go to therapy, the gym, get a hobby, anything that helps you build your self confidence. You will find that those feelings of self doubt slowly dissapear when you get good at something or when you have something to do (not including brain dead entertainment)
Keep in mind that the fear of being left alone will never completely go away, what you are facing is a human fear but that doesnt mean its a bad thing. You can cry about it or use it as fuel to better yourself.
You can make it bro, I believe in you.

Here in Europe we have rapefugees planted by organized crime in front of every shop or other place with a little bit of activity, they're healthy males in their twenties and they aggressively ask for money to every person entering or leaving the shop. They hold the door or insist to fetch you a cart and other annoying, aggressive forms of "help", they also make comments about women's looks because they're savage horndogs and can't hide it
>hey gud luuking lady
>good morning, buutifule lady
Outside of harassing people, they just stand there doing nothing. They have smartphones, a baseball hat... I was looking at one of these guys yesterday while standing outside a pastry shop because I was invited to someone's house and I had to bring something, and he was legit dressed better than me. Nike shoes. Nike hat. I don't have branded soykaf on me. Phones all look the same but I'd bet his was way newer than mine. He was smiling while fuarrrking around with his phone and he looked relaxed and happy in a way I haven't been in a decade.
But that's not what's infuriating. People give these guys money. He harasses people and they give him money. Assuming every person gave him just 50 cents, he made 3-4 euros in 10, 15 minutes, doing absolutely fuarrrk all. It wasn't even peak hours or a large city. People just eagerly give him money because the narrative is that he's a poor black refugee who needs help. This same society that gives money to this guy who's dressed better than me for doing absolutely nothing is the same society that reprimands me for not having a job despite being infinitely more skilled than this guy, and treats me like I'm entitled or I'm "lazy" for not being able to find a job because "I haven't looked hard enough" or that I should settle for a soykafty backbreaking job. Then this guy who's dressed better than me gets money for doing nothing, NOTHING, because he's a poor black refugee. I know that he's standing there because there's a pimp somewhere collecting the money, but people don't even think about that. They think they're helping him. Why does this guy get help for doing nothing except being annoying to the clients of a business while I'm told that I'm "entitled" for WANTING TO WORK.
Why shouldn't I give in to hatred? How am I supposed to feel friendly toward this society, why should I feel like "contributing" to it? I am so goddamn mad about this, it's completely backwards, it makes no sense, and yet I am asked to bitch down, after all I did. While this guy gets paid for playing on his phone.
I wish I was born a sociopath and I could do criminal things so I could participate to society the way it deserves, in the worst and most destructive way. I wish I could steal public money or cheat my taxes or do illegal trades. Sadly I can't hurt a fly or do anything dishonest, at this point being raised like a honest, law-abiding and empathetic person is my biggest regret in life because in this world the more honest and fair and genuinely good-willed you are the harder you get screwed. But I know for sure I won't kill myself, I will not accept this defeat, I'll do everything to keep living even if all that keeps me alive is spite.

How can they to do dope all the time and have huge ass cars, the chicks obviously dig those nice cars, i dont think they got those trough hard work or let alone "intellectual achievements".
Atleast some of the trash they leave behind is useful, but how the fuarrrk such soykafs can afford to live such a lux life while the rest have to do a grind is beyond me.
Id be just content if i had some cash for weed, but in this fuarrrked society youre lucky if you have money for food without having to take it up the ass.
>But I know for sure I won't kill myself, I will not accept this defeat, I'll do everything to keep living even if all that keeps me alive is spite.
Same, its a soykafty world to be in but no point in dying, i rather watch it crash and burn.
Still even though humanity is at the pretty much at bottom of the barrel about now i still feel like theres people out there worth being around, but good luck finding these.

>but how the fuarrrk such soykafs can afford to live such a lux life while the rest have to do a grind is beyond me.
generally there are two ways(often in conjunction):
1) they actually can't afford it and they will be hounded by loan sharks for the rest of their life
2) selling drugs (or other kinds of crime), but they're probably dumb and will probably be dead or in prison in a few years
the third way is rich parents but that's less common.
I tend to agree that society is really just a rotten pile of soykaf that lets people like that be parasites. In fact I think most people are parasites of one kind or another, these days it's hard to find a paying job that actually does something useful for anybody but your boss. You can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and be widely respected for making ads and ad tech, or by owning a bunch of land and charging high rent. It's disgusting. This whole society is a bunch of worthless garbage held up by a tiny and shrinking minority of people who actually do something useful, and a gigantic majority of people who take what they do and divide it up in a byzantine and completely unfair fashion. I'm going to gleefully watch it fall apart and if I'm lucky, I might even get to participate in making something else.

My will to live is tied to a goal that is about as reachable as becoming an astronaut, it just isn't going to happen. I've tried, done my best, it's not going to happen and I have exhausted all my personal resources, material and otherwise in the process of failing miserably and utterly at it.
I cannot give more stress to a family that is already stressed. I'll have to be available for a while, and I've already been in this situation and what they do is just zombify you with drugs, they don't fix anything. They don't care about your mental state as long as you don't kill yourself and deprive the world of a burger flipping slave. It feels like having to walk with broken legs but the pain is all internal and it's lasted years. I can't waste 2,3,5 more years on my retard goal that will just never happen, and my life has completely fallen apart so I can't even afford trying any more. At this point I just want to be sedated and hold on until everything's done and I can finally die without creating problems.
My life was so goddamn horrible from the very beginning, I asked for so little in return for all the crap I've been through but it doesn't work like that. What a terrible life. I hope I never come back to it in any shape or form.

Recently ive realized how design, my field of study and work, is essentially just soykaf. While there is some interesting ways to approach it around semiotics, it boils down to commercialized art. Whether thats commercialized in a capitalist sense or simply in a made for the general public sense. Thats well and good and fine, the issue is that design essentially rips from the fine arts, reduces it and warps it with the express goal of making something that is good enough. In turn the fine arts adopts elements from design, essentially cheapening everything in a fuarrrked up feedback loop. "Good design" is design that doesnt get in the way, and "Amazing design" is design that takes these design principles filtered through a fine arts approach and then regurgitated back into the world of design and showcases them .
It feels like im literally in a worse version of another field. The good thing is that unlike fine arts id bet a lot of money that not only can I gather and utilize everything design has to offer in my lifetime I can do it in maybe just 5-10 more years. Already I have a fantastic grasp of it and I know it will be very easy especially once I have my degree and have that "trust me bro" factor because that goes very far in design.
For example design professors will talk about things like the nike swoosh, how the person that made it thought about it and did sketches only to present this final surprisingly simple design on a napkin or whatever. And how it goes to show how much nuance or thought goes into even the simplest of decisions. The fact is when you really look at it, the nike logo could have been almost anything as long as it didnt get in the way. That's it, the logo simply needed to exist and not get in the way or be unappealing. The designer who made it was already established, and nike would have likely become a huge company even with a different logo. See in fine arts if this were a painting, all of that thinking and conceptualizing just to come up with a painting of this swish would tell a story and have this history and theory to be appreciated behind it even if you didnt like the painting itself. You would read this painters takes, maybe watch a youtube video of someone summarizing them to you or their thoughts on the painting and find intrigue. But that isnt what design sets out to do, not to stir thought or create speculation and theories (except among other designers). Its simply meant to signify or point to something. The nike swooshes only purpose is to say "this is nike the company". A stop signs purpose is just to say "stop moving here". All that extra thought and what not is essentially most of the time just mental masturbation, or a ritual to arrive at something you could have done from the start. Often a ritual to make something no better than what you started with.
again in many ways essential, but as its become seen as an art of its own, its changed the art world at large for the worse I fear. Not a deep concern, it ties into bigger concerns of mine about art and spirituality though that i dont want to get into cause im feeling nauseous and tired of typing. Just venting.

You give too much credit to art. It's exactly the same thing. Your reasoning about the nike logo, which is 100% true, is no different from how a blue square by Rothko is considered genius and full of meaning but the same blue square by you means nothing. The root of all this is that we have switched to a post-merit society where class is everything and the entire logical framework is filtered through the lens of "success" which is a roundabout way to worship privilege (actual privilege that comes from class and wealth) because looking at anything else would expose the ugly truth that you're just sniffing a rich person's farts. Everything is just about class. All the spokespeople who lie to you pretending they got to success through their efforts alone are hiding from you where they came from. But the truth is that nobody wants to know that because narratives are more important than the truth.
Truth or reality don't matter anymore. We live in a timeline where what you produce doesn't matter, it doesn't even matter how other people perceive it or if they really need it, what matters is that you have the resources to advertise it. The only other element is addictive design which at this point permeates everything. In short, people are so mindless and dependent on public approval now that the entire world's pressure is upon them that just advertising can convince them to buy things they hate or have absolutely no need for.
We are in a post-scarcity society for those who have money, so all that matters is buying something. Everything's reduced to the state of a badge, that's why it could be anything. Functionally, this is the same as jewelry. It's not about beauty, it's all about showing off your net worth. This is everything in this meaningless world.

I really don't like all the neologisms that have emerged recently
"we are in a global pandemic" -- provides no information whatsoever. Just because something is happening *globally* doesn't say anything about the situation *locally*, there may or may not be a local epidemic where you are, there may or may not be a public health crisis where you are. This phrase is only used as a reminder to people that they should be stressed out and panicky about an amorphous threat.
"social distance" (verb form) -- This one is just hard to parse. It doesn't have verb markers like most verbed words do, you have to just infer from context. No good, especially if you're just learning English.
"friend group" -- it's called a social circle jeez.
"believe in science" -- it is weird to me that someone could believe in scientific conclusions without understanding why they're true. More importantly this phrase is usually used to show allegiance to a side of the 'culture war' rather than express any kind of epistemological viewpoint.
"culture war" -- it's made up, folks. People are making a lot of money watching us fight over their table scraps.
I guess the reason I don't like these is because they have become so extremely standardized in everyday language. There are other ways to say the things they're saying, but most people don't.

Nobody has time to understand everything from first principles. If it's something important to you then by all means investigate further but you can't expect everyone to have the time or motivation to do that. That's why it's ok to depend on scientists to review each other's work and replicate each other's experiments and for the layman to just focus on the current conclusions.

I kind of get the same inkling. Feels like we're in a moment where some kind of newspeak is evolving out of left anarchist academia and the remnants of the theraputic movement of the seventies or so. All subsumed and bastardized through corporate culture along the way. Language is becoming wholly more abstracted from our physical senses and worldly actions. The net effect seems to be that common people have a harder and harder time accomplishing their ambitions. Not that it was exactly easy before this.

I have secrets which I keep from all of the people I’ve met from about 7 years ago and onward. Not even those whom I could classify as my best friends know my deepest secret. I keep things from my past which I do not want my significant other to be aware of yet it causes me some degree of undue stress imagining that my significant other will somehow find out all that I have been hiding and see me a lot differently than they do now. For my best friends to know those secrets will very likely tarnish what they think of me. I don’t want their opinion of me to change. My significant other might even rethink their relationship with me. They might break up with me.
I live in slight paranoia about the connections I keep and of being possibly exposed by people who might know and smear me. I have convinced myself that some people who have decided to be part of my life are waiting for a particular opportunity to oust me and ruin my reputation, despite having multiple opportunities to do so before, but there’s a part of me that thinks they’re waiting for a certain event to happen before doing so.
I believe that I dug a hole so deep I may as well get comfortable. Is it normal to live with things you did in the past, not wanting to ever re-visit them again, to never want to tell people about it in order to “hash it out?”

lol it's been coming mostly from corporations. Where do you think political correctness came from? It was an attempt by HR departments to "fix" their racism problem by making people pretend it doesn't exist, among other things.
Academia is getting played by this too, because universities are like corporations now. The thing is that some of those anarchist/communist types you mention are so fuarrrking dumb that they actually believe that they're solving transphobia by making people say their pronouns when introducing themselves (and other dumb soykaf).

Nature didn't care about our well-being, only about the perpetuation of this mechanism called life for the only sake of keeping the wheel skipping. Somehow, believing that you're actually a woman although you're a 6'3" guy can't be called "mental illness"
Demanding that people change their language to accommodate for someone else's delusion can't be called "mental illness"
But a schizophrenic who thinks he's Napoleon, that's "mental illness"
But someone who wants to chop his hand off, that's "mental illness"
And being desperate because we live in a world without ethics, purpose, opportunity or justice, where you have no agency over your life or your community, where human relationships have disintegrated, where truth doesn't exist, and sociopaths are worshiped because they know how to generate capital and there is no other virtue other than money... that's "mental illness" too.
Yet at the same time the not mentally ill, completely normal person gets special treatment and attention and rights over everyone else, while the mentally ill people are never talked about or treated with sufficiency as if they didn't exist and their issues were imaginary.
The not mentally ill person now says he's neuroatypical to explain why he's owed special treatment. The mentally ill person is neuroatypical too. But the latter is mentally ill, the former is not. Abnormal is normal except when it's not. This person is neuroatypical so he deserves to be treated as neurotypical (but please remember he's neuroatypical).
Everything is completely upside-down and just like in 1984 things now mean the opposite of what their name says.

It really depends. There are people who have brain built like the opposite sex - it's not a mental illness, because rejecting a body that's not compliant with what your brain tells you is a natural reaction. If anything the illness is a body not compatible with brain, but that's not a mental illness.
Forcing these people to behave the way that should be expected from their appearance would be the same as forcing a straight cis-male to wear a skirt, not cool and not a treatment.

Why do corporations care about "racism"?
Because customers and employees care (or pretends to care).
Why do they pretend to care?
Because they've been indoctrinated by academia.
Why does academia care?
Because it's just a cultural extension to marxism, just replace "proletariat" with "gay trans black women" and "bourgeoisie" with "straight white male".

You know, like a queer biracial (xe's 1/16th Native American) Silicon Valley corporate employee can talk about how hard it is for minorities to get by in this oppressive society while sipping on his 27$ soy frappuccino and a bunch of other people earning 6 figures clap, and a closet gay guy in Rwanda looks at it on his school's PC and thinks "holy soykaf this guy is fighting for MY rights".

Get familiar with the definition of a species. Homo sapiens has really low genetic diversity compared to other species all types can breed giving fertile offspring.

Some scientists proposed there should be one genus - Pan (chimpanzee) to contain also humans, but others are just too proud to admit it.
This would be actually more sensible than the current synthetic system.
Can negroids and caucasoids breed? Yes, so this is one species.
Can humans breed with chimpanzees? No, so we should be in one genus - Pan sapiens or Homo troglodytes. Sounds good to me.

>Those middle class, self-hating young Americans just think
>"Maybe if I suck up to this guy I'll get a job in Silicon Valley"
You're sort of on the right lines. Humans have a biological drive for social status because it improves your mating prospects. Like I said before, academia doesn't care about money because it's mostly run by people who don't understand it. They're all atheists so God is out. So they created their own "virtue" based on marx's oppressor/oppressed dichotomy.
The louder you screech about oppression, the more virtuous you are and the higher your social status on campus. When enough radicalized kids continue spouting the same crap after they graduate and start working in silicon valley and the media and other university graduate jobs, the new wokeness religion goes mainstream. Which is what we're seeing now.
Contrary to what you keep saying, capitalism doesn't give a fuarrrk what stupid soykaf consumers believe as long as they keep consuming. When the woke train slows down they will jump onto whatever the next thing is, just like how everyone dropped feminism the moment men in skirts became the hot new thing. I've fallen to nostalgia and I hate this. It's comforting, sure, but it feels wrong, at least the way I seem to be indulging in it. The things I used to find extremely obnoxious and bad back in the day now seem great simply because it seems infinitely better than anything we have now. It's so weird.
What's worse, is that I view the future through the lens of the past as well. "Real" Future stems from the Present, which stems from the Past. I take the Present out of this equation, and imagine a could-be Future, as weird as this sounds, an "Unreal" Future as it was envisioned in the past, undiluted by all the negatives we brought in the Present that skew this image.
This sounds like such an idiotic problem to struggle with, but I would still like to let go and learn to live in the present, carving out future out of what is, rather than imagine dream futures out of what was.
Spike Spiegel · 2020-09-04 03:51

I feel you. History is a weapon, but nostalgia is a sedative. You aren't idiotic, though; we all interpret the future as the image cast by the light of the past projecting through the lens of the present. If you have this instinct, you're fine. You'll avoid tripping over some headstone from a previous decade as long as you understand that nostalgiaism is eerie and wrong. Be aware of your limits, but don't despair of them. That's how every human has ever been since we were covered in fur.
And I've also been bothered by that meme format. It's the most literal distillation of reactionary thought: the desire to return to a fantastical past that never really existed. To descend into delusion and reverie. We don't have a vehicle to take us to the past. We can take ourselves into the future in a way that is informed by the past; perhaps even preferring values from the past. But it will still be downstream in time and changed. All must change. That's the only constant. We must accept this and plan accordingly if we want tomorrow to be any good.
That said... there are certain awful things about this present that we can dispose with if we are steadfast and brave. Or at least we can dispose of them in the sense that we can steer away from that specific future. We can't eliminate the concepts, and we can't close Pandora's box. But we can still have deterministic influence on the path of mankind. We always do. Don't let yourself be discouraged. We are small, but we still count. Exercise your will, even when it seems futile. Especially when it seems futile. That's when faith comes into play.

The way I see it, everything that's in the past or in the future exists now only as memories or predictions. i.e. they are useful fictions in the minds. Nostalgia can be useful, but often, it's used perniciously. An example of good use of nostalgia, is if there's a good habit you want to go back to having: you can use nostalgia to motivate that, by remembering all the good things that were associated with that good habit.
On the other hand, I stopped using nostalgia this way, because it's often simultaneously euphoric and depressive, which is disgusting, like eating saccharinated dung so sweet that you start to like it, despite knowing that it's dung. (Not that I've had direct personal experience eating saccharinated dung. Especially not that such direct personal experience, which I didn't have at all in any way shape or form at any time in the past present or future, included liking such direct personal experience. Why are we even talking about this?)
>We can't eliminate the concepts, and we can't close Pandora's box. But we can still have deterministic influence on the path of mankind.
Hey, forget about mankind. Remove it from your life. If you still care about the path of mankind or whatever, you might try helping another person remove it from his life: if everyone so helped helps two others, there'll be geometric growth---even small changes will accumulate fast.
>Especially when it seems futile
I just want to add that, if it is futile, then don't bother. But---and this is a big but---if it feels futile, it's not. Why? Because doing it despite feeling futile exercises the ability to ignore that feeling.

I'll be honest... If a girl wants to date you over a bunch of chat logs and she's anything close to attractive she's probably more promiscuous than you're comfortable with, a psycho, or both.
And I never said "only date her if she's hot", I said "know who she is", including potential lies about her online persona.

Out of personal experience: it's extremely difficult to truly fall in love with a person you don't find attractive, and no amount of likeable personality on their part is going to change that.

Big ol rant inc. PTSD is one nasty bitch lain.
I’m finally back to myself, I see my body doing nothing and wasting time and I want to catch myself but its so much harder now. The past couple years have really stripped me down to just surviving and now that I’m back in my body I don’t know what to do. Im JUST surviving and Im fuarrrking SICK of it. I used to have so much energy and now I barely make it through the day, I can’t live like this Im so behind on my life. I worked so hard to get everything in order and every time I get it together suddenly it goes to soykaf. I’m not sure how many more curveballs I can take. I never drank before, I drink so much now. And it’s not even like “I need to drink” because drinking makes me feel like soykaf and I still don’t like it but I need to feel baseline SOMETIMES and nothing gets me there but a buncha drinks and I’m close. I have so many things I’m passionate about Lain. I have so many loved ones that count on me and that I want to do incredible things for but I can’t do that if my only two states are scared or intoxicated. I see a lot of my loved ones with much better heads on their shoulders making it through tough times by sticking to regimen and bettering themselves and all I can do is think about when I’m gonna die and do things to forget that I’m gonna die. I’m trapped. I go to the doctor and they give me benzos and tell
me to do some mindfulness soykaf but that’s not what I NEED. I need to get back to my old self, I never realized how lucky I was. I don’t need to calm down I need more energy to get back to my fuarrrking life I need to be able to forget that I’m gonna die, I even wanna be a good little cog and just work all my life in a nice middle position. I just wanna feel free to do what I want in my own body, nothing else weighing on me. I don’t know who to say it all to Lain, I’ve told everyone and it gets nowhere. I can’t ever say it all, there’s no point even here. But shouting it into the void makes me feel the most normal. I’m not okay Lain. I have some people around me I really care about and right now I can’t even take care of myself much less be a good friend to them. I don’t know who to talk to, they’re gonna run away faster. The fancy degrees don’t get it either, they just try to numb me out but I need the opposite. I want to feel again. idk I have a lot to say it’s all pent up. I like to come here to scream. I’m glad you’re here Lain, if you’re reading this. I hope you’re doing well. I know I’m going to be better. We work every day towards it.

I never even associated any of this with white people or black people
master/slave at best made me think of BDSM
It doesn't even have anything to do with racism, it's just an exercise in power from the Miniluv to reshape language and enforce newspeak and nobody seems to understand it

yeah it is obnoxious how much people seem to care about these utterly inconsequential things, while relatively ignoring very real problems.
These are the same people who seriously think they're going to save the world through revolution or some soykaf. Listen if you have a conniption fit over some meaningless words you will never ever lead a successful revolution. They'll just sit in their cube farm, happily sedated with drugs and sex and internet and money, constantly whining about how they're so oppressed, while the world outside gets more and more dystopian every day. When someone shows up with a Kalishnikov and says "come join the revolution brother!" they'll get angry that they were misgendered and start posting on twitter about how this revolution is problematic. They're all ego-poisoned, convinced that there is nothing more important in the world than their own comfort.
Half the people who say "eat the rich" are exactly the rich who would be eaten, because when people are hungry enough they see right through that kind of soykaf.
They can do whatever the fuarrrk they want, I literally don't care. At this point they're just another group of deranged morons that are running off a cliff as fast as they can, jerking themselves off the whole time. I just hope I can get off this wild ride before they get there.

Don't despair too soon. Because they're politically inept career-striving morons who don't really give a damn about any social cause except their own clout, they are doing far more damage to these causes than they are helping them. They're only spreading resentment, such as what you are feeling now. They are spreading it everywhere, and soon it will drop back into the background noise because they've hamstrung their own popular support and done more to increase ambient hatred of those groups than anybody in the modern era. They will not notice this or care; they'll just hop onto the next trend and keep doing the same antics.
Would be hilarious if it wasn't so irritating or tragic. But this too shall pass.

It is, but also humans are flawed and loyalty becomes harder the longer you have to maintain it. It can be a bit easier to stay loyal if you're attracted to the person. But don't go and get involved with somebody who is stunningly hot and has fuсked everyone else in the world unless you're prepared to handle that lmao
But love is absolutely just loyalty and trust. And the willingness to give yourself over to a higher ideal. Which is the most transcendent and spiritual act a human can ever commit; it's very important to do that at some point.
Yuki Nagato · 2020-09-05 16:52

Haruyoshi · 2020-09-05 17:08

sure, one kind of love is. But loyalty and trust aren't enough to make it pleasurable to sleep in the same bed, and without that you may love someone but you will never be happy with just them. Don't disregard the sex-craving mammalian part of you, it controls your conscious mind more than you can ever hope to overcome. The ideal partner is someone you love, trust, and who you are attracted to enough that your skin gets all sensitive and flushed when you're close to them.
As for transcendence, I honestly think that comes from the mammal-brain too, or somewhere on the boundary between mammal and conscious. The urge for it is certainly very strong, even among people who do not know they seek it. Most people only experience any kind of transcendence through orgasm.

Anyone else feel like suicide is just an inevitability?
Like no matter how happy or fortunate I am today, or 10 years from now, it'll eventually end in suicide
Joe Bloggs · 2020-09-05 23:19
I used to live with an ex-gf until a bit over a year ago. Before then I was living on my own for quite some time, and since the breakup I have been living back with my mother. At the time of the breakup I had no job or savings, and I have no one else aside from her who could take me in so that was my only option next to becoming homeless. She drinks quite a bit and does shrooms, coke, and idfk/c what other drugs. Parties all the time, not covid nor aging has slowed her down. Very difficult to deal with her daily behavior. No conversation is had between us aside from yelling. At least she was nothing like this during my childhood, not exactly a stellar parent either though.
I have been living almost entirely on a very small 'allowance' for the last year, and my friends when they can spare me a meal or something else I need. The latter is something I always feel guilty about, I have nothing to really give back. Hopefully in time my life will improve and I will be able to do something for them. My friends are probably the only reason I'm not suicidal yet they simultaneously cause me a very large amount of self-inflicted guilt. I know they want to see me doing better and are trying to help me so at least I have them around in the first place.
I hope this is the lowest time of my life, that's only the surface of a couple problems. Typing a full essay on everything bad in my life is not something I foresee helping me, though for the moment this has. Don't let venting become ruminating over your problems.

Been there a few times myself, as a rule I do not ever shift my feelings on someone from romantic interest to friendship. Whether I was in a relationship with her or not, whether the romance was one sided or not. I have tried and never found the result to be anything other than distressing. You may not have the same experience, it seems most people are capable of deliberately shifting their feelings like that. I am not.

I always associated black, as the color of charcoal, to darkness, which is the absence of light. It's a lot stronger in my mind than when it's used to indicate extra melanin, that's why "black" is so easily associated with BAD. I don't know if "blacklist"to indicate some racist thing was an actual term during slavery, like on boats to list the slaves, but does anybody but these insane crotchsniffers from American academia ACTUALLY think of black people when they read "blacklist"? This removal is just so completely fuarrrking arbitrary and it irks me on such a profound level. And the whole ritual knee-bending to every whim is both scary and nauseating. You GOTTA do it or you're a BAD PERSON. It doesn't matter if you don't do the token thing but you do whatever, all that matters is that you do the token thing. Then you can actually do horrible soykaf and get away with it because it doesn't matter if you actually own slaves in another continent, nobody gives a soykaf.
I swear that I had more racist thoughts thanks to this sort of stuff than because of all the direct direct offenses from black people I experienced in my life combined. Actually if I rationalize I I have no reason at all to be racist, I met just as many black assholes as whites. So thankfully I remember who is it that I really hate. It's these annoying white pieces of soykaf who are, say, 5% of the population on the internet? These American sharticle writers and "progressive" fops, who never lifted a finger or experienced any actual discrimination in their lives and would literally set up Big Brother to climb one rung on their soykafty corporate ladder.

Forced contemplation due to sleeplessness caused by backpains left me with a bitter conclusion.
No matter how many drugs i take the suffering of being trapped in this broken prison of flesh is unavoidable.
Even with the false promises of transhumanism of replacing these broken vessels, all it will do is extend this sad soykafshow we call life and make it even more degenrate.
In the end all it will lead to is to shortcircuit the brain to release hormones constantly, but might well just use heroin for doing this rather than complex brain surgery and electronics.
Humanity uses technology to entrench itself in its own disgusting ways while i try to transcend it somehow.
Death seems the only way out, but i think even that is just a trap.
I have so much to do before i can depart from this accursed entrapment.
I know i need to find a way out of this diseased reality, yet the means seem almost impossible to reach, ive no idea if i reached the end of my rope.
Just giving up and dying is not an option, but i dont know if can push on further.
There has to be a way out of this mess and i dont think i can rest until i find it.

Lower-class women really need to have someone who can look out for them, they are very vulnerable without a protector of some kind. But the more I think about it the more sure I am that there is no realistic way to escape the bull soykaf. I don't want to "homestead" because there is very little arable land left, water is becoming scarce too, if your homestead has enough resources to support reliable food production they will probably be privatized by Nestle or something. People already get kicked out of their own house because it's "unsuitable for permanent habitation" by some arbitrary standard.
You don't have the right to bodily autonomy any more. You have some degrees of freedom but over all your body is controlled. You only have the right to eat and drink what the state wants you to eat and drink, live where the state wants you to live. And god forbid you have kids, the state will absolutely label you a 'child abuser' for not sending your kid to the national brainwashing facility.
I don't even think it's some grand conspiracy. I think the sad truth is that it's a natural evolution of the industrial nation-state. It becomes this sick hell where everything is controlled, everywhere is settled. And it's not even really controlled, it's just that arbitrary rules are enforced while chaos boils underneath. Great for people who want to game the system, terrible for people like me who just want to leave it behind.
Within a few years I bet they'll start rounding up vagrants(and anyone else who does not participate in the centralized Capitalist economy) and sending them to extermination facilities, nobody will even complain. You can't even hide in the woods(the ones that still exist, anyway), they'll do aerial scans with heat cameras.
I just want to lay in a field on a nice summer day and wait for the ground to swallow me.
But soon enough the mood passes, I feel like doing things again, some idiotic optimist inside me regains control and I start fantasizing about a future life in a trailer in the boonies, meeting a hippie wife, etc etc. A stupid unrealistic life that could make no sense.
I used to live near a homeless guy's camp. He wasn't like the others, he kept his space tidy and he was friendly to everyone in the neighborhood, most of them were friendly to him. On cold nights people would come out and give him tea and cigarettes. I suspect he worked sometimes too. I sort of fantasize about being like him... I don't think I have the guts to give up my comfortable middle class lifestyle though.

imo that attitude is somewhat rational. These people want to avoid learning about computers for various reasons. Tech ignorance can even be a kind of status symbol. It is a mistake to think that they can be taught if they are just exposed to tools that require them to learn, because they actively refuse to learn.
If you want to avoid learning anything about technology, the last thing you want is a tool that won't work properly without a basic understanding of it. You install an ablocker, and then one day they find a website that tells them it won't work unless they turn off their adblocker. Now they can't access that website until they learn how to disable adblock or route around those messages, but they are absolutely unwilling to do that. So now they are worse off than they were to begin with, and it's your fault.
Linux is far, far worse in this respect, because the level of understanding your OS may end up demanding goes way deeper than just navigating a simple graphical interface and making a handful of google searches.
For these people, uncustomized mobile devices are the ideal, because these devices are designed to be used without any actual understanding of what you are doing. If they use some feature of their phone/tablet and you ask them how they did it, they won't be able to tell you; it's all muscle memory the software tricked them into developing. They don't have any actual knowledge of what they are doing, and that's how they like it.

What about the other hostility? Whenever I say anything beyond small talk it's like I said ultra pretentious stuff in Shakespearean English while adjusting 3 inch thick glasses over my nose. How do I check if I'm actually like that? Maybe it's not what I say and I just have a really annoying voice? I sound normal in a recording, though I've become hyper-aware of my speech because of this stuff going on since I was a kid, and finally taking a toll on my confidence. I think I'm unremarkable and I know how to handle a subject, I don't go immediately in depth about something or talk down to people. When I changed environment I got completely different feedback. Maybe there are rumors about me in this city? I swear, it feel so alienating.

I am using the toxin from the plant Poison Hemlock, which is supposed to cause muscle paralysis and death, wouldn't recommend it if you want a quick and clean way to go because if you mess it up you'll be in for a very painful experience, and even if you do consume a lethal amount it will still be very uncomfortable, to say the least. Better than downing bleach and windshield fluid though.

Hard to say, I get the same feeling. Like there's some subtle quality about me that I'm not aware of, but others are aware of and find repulsive or unsettling once they notice it. My guess is this is partly because my face is too expressive, and my emotions are different than what they expect or want them to be.
In your examples it sounds kind of like power struggles; that those people are rejecting your advice out of hand because to accept it would be acknowledging some kind of weakness or inferiority. If it's only happening in one environment it could just be a cultural thing, that the kind of response you're giving is misinterpreted as aggressive or insulting.

Mistakes were made so long ago, yet their results linger to this day.
This is unfair. The fact that a few rash decisions you made when you were young can leave you crippled and in pain for the rest of your life with no chance of recovery is so unfair. I wish I could let go, but the body itself serves as a constant reminder. I wish I could flee from the pain and discomfort forever.

i'm on adderall right now and i feel nothing
there are different ways to feel like a zombie
too much dopamine makes one a zombie
also drugs like adderall
i feel free
free from emotions
but i'm empty inside
very logical
but anything in excess is no good and logic is no exception
computer brain drug is what adderall is, it makes your brain a computer
luckily though i'm not gonna kms or anything because that'd require emotion
something else interesting is that the grass is always greener on the other side
when i'm off adderall and i try doing my homework i am absolutely miserable (i do it 2-4 times slower than others no matter how hard i try, can't focus (though no adderall can be better for more creative homework like writing))
but now i'm miserable because i'm not creative or myself and i feel soulless and i don't feel like doing anything (maybe the problem is i expect to feel like doing something (instead of just doing my homework whether or not i feel anything))
i guess it's just left brain vs right brain
there's pros and cons to each, each has its advantages and disadvantages, but i guess it'd be cool to have to have the pros of both at the same time
or not
our problems are what make life interesting, otherwise things'd be too boring
then again, who says life needs to be interesting
i certainly don't find it interesting right now, and i'm doing more or less ok
but what's "ok"?
surviving and not being dead?
being happy?
but then again you can't be happy without being unhappy
or maybe not
you know those utopias where everyone's high on drugs 24/7? well that's constant happiness no?
well idk because i feel dopamine would settle to that level
see it becomes normal
the soma and orgies and crap become boring and then what do you do?
more of them?
more of them more extreme?
yeah but even then
doesn't it get boring?
idk
i notice that towards the end of summer break things get super boring for me
yeah, do the daily routine, play instruments, exercise, etc, but if that gets boring?
well who's to say things need to get boring from enough doing them?
isn't that a myth?
why can't you just stay content doing the same thing over and over again?
why do things need to be different?
idk
maybe we're bored so we give ourselves the problem of boredom
even if we wouldn't be bored otherwise
mhm
the best i can find about homework is that you just need to enjoy it
problem with me is i expect too much from it
i expect it to be fun
unrealistic expectations
i expect too much from life now that i think about it
or do i?
life is not like the movies though
the idea that there's bad endings and good endings isn't really true
it's not the ending it's the journey
and what metric says what makes a journey good or bad?
it's all relative
so then relative to others' lives?
so?
it's too subjective, but clearly you can tell some people seem to have better more fulfilling lives than others, so there's gotta be some way of getting objective metrics for life goodness
but
i was gonna say all that stuff's emotional
why not learn from adderall
and just expect mehness?
i mean neutrality
not good not bad
but maybe the problem with adderall me procrastinating homework is that i expect there to be feelings
i expect homework to be boring to me
i want to be like adderalless me so i imitate the boredom feeling even though i don't actually feel it
the boredom feeling is a feeling and requires the emotional desire to do other stuff
so if there is no emotional desire to do other stuff there should be no boredom feeling
and in fact there isn't

I might be qualified to be classified as a "nerd girl" and possibly have a couple of "nerd girl" friends (into programming/math/infosec and non-mainstream visual media, that kind of thing; they're a lot more social than me, though), so I'll barge in: most nerd girls are introverted (sometimes also socially inept) so you do have to take the initiative most of the time or you'll never get anywhere. But you don't have to "look like a chad" as in really handsome/ripped/anything like that. It may be nice, but the more important thing is being able to impress the girl with your intelligence. Also, listen to what she says and ask questions, but that applies to any girl.

It's pretty wacky that your actions may have a long-lasting effect on other people. One person I used to be close friends with has changed almost completely after I couldn't reciprocate the feelings they developed for me and all contact was cut. No matter how far you run or how much you hide, you can't escape your demons, it is something you must face head-on. Have you ever heard of the story of Chri Mccandless? He did exactly that, packed up everything he could carry and drove halfway across the world to Alaska to escape his problems, but in the end, he realized that he can't just simply run away from everything and he tried to go back home to face his issues head-on, but before he could make it he was poisoned by a plant and eventually died. I think you should take his story to heart because no matter where you're planning to run off to, it won't solve your issues, whatever you're facing you need to attack head on.

I feel that mang. I've been saving up a little cash, I should be able to buy a nice enough trailer soon, I already have a truck I could use, then all I need is some little plot of land out in the boonies (preferably somewhere with reliable water), bring some seeds and spores with me, burn my phone and all state ID except my birth certificate(for emergencies), and live the chill life away from screens.
I'd rather live through the end of industrial civilization on my own terms, and at least have some peace and quiet to read and study. Preferably I'd have some nearby neighbors who aren't soykafbags.

I shouldn't and don't feel guilty about not having feelings for them, but seeing the consequences of my rejection does make me feel slightly guilty. They bought a leather jacket, decorative chains and damn Doc Martens and act brash and punk-ish, from what I saw and heard. Their avatar is now an edgy photo of theirs, for crying out loud. This seems borderline comical, but I can't shake off the feeling that they were genuinely affected by the entire affair and this is actually how they express their emotions and everything.
