How do you get through the day lainons?
It just feels like such a weight on me knowing that this world could be so much better, we could secure the bread and I could be an actual equal with my fellow humans, spend my day helping keep everyones needs met, and have plenty of time to work on my projects.
Everyday I wake up and Im reminded that if I dont find a job soon Im going to be homeless and left to rot, if I do find a job Im going to be tired and have no time to do my own things, and eventually come to hate my hobby.
It just feels like theres a fog over this world so that the elites can get another zero on their bank account. Media is soykaf and the people who actually want to make something genuine don't have the money to.
How do I keep my chin up in these times? it feels like the end-times and if this virus doesnt kill me then the authoritarian police state that comes out of it will

The fundamental differences between individual human brains (excluding the congenitally retarded and traumatic brain injuries, of course) are vastly exaggerated. If you look at an IQ scatter plot (ignoring the vast flaws with IQ for the moment) and look at the labeling of the axes, then you'd notice that most people have the same basic potential, or at least within such a small margin that hard work and education could easily make up for natural disadvantages.

Governments all over the world are considering implementing UBI in response to the present crisis and some will likely go through with it, which may pave the way for it to be adopted worldwide and extended indefinitely. That could go a long way towards resolving the problem of wage slavery.

gee, its almost as if having profit be the single driving motive for everything in the world leads to the wealthy treating the poor like soykaf, and cattle to extract wealth from.
We fund everyones lifestyle by identifying what needs to be done to /actually/ meet everyones basic needs, and splitting up that work with everyone.
We need not create more work than that, we can create literal machines to do work for us and yet everyone is still working 8 hour days for most of their lives, and people are complaining that there isnt enough work for people to do rather than being grateful that we as a species can work less and less?

Frankly yes. I wouldn't, but I deserve the option, as does everyone. The idea that a person owes society their labor in exchange for just being allowed to exist is inherently coercive and incompatible with human freedom. Everyone deserves life, and owes nothing in return.
People will contribute of their own free will, most people are unsatisfied with a subsistence level lifestyle anyway. We have automation and economic output vastly beyond survival level, we don't need to set things up so that people are indirectly threatened with death if they don't work. The only reason to do so is a fuarrrked up vindictive sense of morality that demands punishment for people who don't fall in line, and validation for economic winners at the expense of all else.

This is liberal nonsense #yanggang. UBI is nothing more than some extra money to keep the economy going, when people get free money what do they do? They will spend it, this money will get printed for 'free' by the government then what? It goes straight back into the pockets of business owners and landlords (ESPECIALLY landlords). They are very much aware of this. Yes, maybe the average person can buy an extra Starbucks this week but until private property is abolish UBI is nothing more than a petty stipend from the slavemaster to keep us satiated, that will end up directly in their pockets anyway.

I always see socialists bring up these talking points, but they don't make a lot of sense to me without assuming the worst that the subtext and real objection is accelerationist opportunity cost, the fear that peoples lives will improve enough to dissuade a communist revolution, and for the sake of adhering to dogma no other solution to the same problems can ever be accepted, and for that reason no rational analysis may be attempted, and in its place go cynical attempts at blind persuasion.
For one, few UBI plans are funded by money printing, virtually all involve downwards wealth redistribution, so the 'free money and inflation' angle is a strawman argument, and an uncharacteristic one borrowed from the right.
The 'but capitalists will benefit' and efforts at otherization are also pretty unreasonable. Mocking support for group association and trying to associate an idea with an opposing ideology is propaganda, not a real consideration of something (it also happens to be wrong, economic liberals tend to hate basic income, though this shouldn't be relevant). The question should not be what group membership UBI support signals, or whether it's tolerable to your enemies, it should be whether it is likely to succeed in ending wage slavery and improving peoples lives. Otherwise as an argument it's just a blunt weapon, not an attempt at improved understanding for anyone.
To be fair though maybe I should be blaming Twitter rather than socialism or socialists.

Yes because giving people $1000 (of which how much goes to a landlord?) per month is a great way to end wage slavery. Stupid ideas will attract stupid people, i.e. #yanggang über liberals, the point isn't that UBI is bad because idiots like it, it's just a bad idea and if you support it: it likely means you yourself are a liberal (read, lack of knowledge about economic factors). The only way we can end wage slavery, like I mentioned, is if we abolish private property and can finally wash our hands with a capitalist mode of production, then we can decide to stop making minion toys just so someone has to waste most of their life working to make a profit for some capitalist. Then once we achieve post-scarcity (which is entirely a real possibility at our level of technological advancement) we can let everyone live freely as they wish.

Stop this awful bait. With equality rich people work way harder for less and poor work about the same amount but for more assets. Far more assets to the poor. The poor are not in charge so naturally communism is hated as the propaganda you've been taught was spewed forth by rich people that cringe at the idea of them having to work for equal pay.
The world is corrupt in other words and that's not a good thing, being taken advantage of by some privileged lord that was handed everything to them on a silver platter, literally silver and literally served on actual platters. Meanwhile my spoon was made of plastic and not silver. With no authority given to me as a birthright I never become what you THINK OF as strong. The environment is not the same at all.
The environment of the weak animals was raped by us. How egotistical do you have to be to think that a creature that evolved for a billion years is wrong when in fact humans and their cultures is what damaged the environment? We are weak as a person, the culture allowed technology to be passed down. That culture is poison to the natural ecosystems of the world.

Well if you as a person live in a capitalist system you are in competition for everything in your life. You are in competition with your fellow students for the best grades, to land the most profitable job, to suck off your boss, to get the biggest promotion. You are compelled to play dirty, the system benefits psychopathy. Remove that system: then you don't award this behaviour. It'll will then get removed from society. Humans are social creatures they will quickly adapt.

This is vague. Explain what you mean by "the people/land dynamic", because that has evolved significantly over time in most parts of the world, assuming you mean the way that people relate to the land.
>If you want everyone in a mansion get rid of most people.
I don't want everyone in a mansion. I want everyone to have a decent house, decent clothing, decent food, decent healthcare, a decent amount of free time, etc. Right now we have a tiny amount of people living in decadence, a few living decently(but in a way that is, IMO, not spiritually or physically healthy... that's a different but related problem), and the vast majority living in squalor. Why must it be this way? Even the meanest serf during the feudal days had more free time than we do today. Our society was built off the backs of slaves and it runs off the backs of people who might as well be slaves.
>As long as we are too many people will fight to get enough for themselves even if it takes putting others in dog-sized cages as housing just as it already is literally happening in ch/jp.(latter one has fancier high-tech cages but still same space)
I believe this is because people are fighting for *more* than enough for themselves.
Overpopulation is an issue but it is not the underlying issue of class society. Half the population could disappear today and resource distribution would still be unequal, slavery would still exist. It's not about that.

Tower blocks could be improved and better maintained. Hanging gardens could be put on the sides. Cities could be made more pleasant, the nature of work could change so that most people don't have to drive around all the time, etc etc. I think the main rallying cry of socialism isn't "things could be perfect!" but "things could be a whole lot better!"

Anonymous internet has disillusioned me about free speech, privacy, and all that jazz. In real life you immediately know if the person you're talking to is insane, retarded, or 12 years old. Since the overwhelming majority of people online are a combination of the above, the only way not to waste your time or poison public discourse is to have some sort of ID.

Maybe the land is frigid and arid, maybe they just havent thought of going outside and planting stuff.
Who really knows, i do know people here in the west could use their land wiser too then they wouldnt be dependent on states and companies to feed them.
Its sad people treat the earth either like its their property and they can do as they please or they dont give a soykaf and think it doesnt matter.
The true fall of man is the idea that we are not part of this earth and arent responsible for it, you can help it grow or destroy it, too bad most people arent interested in growing things other than on their computers or whatever.

Remote work is a thing that might fix it somewhat but the problem with "if we distribute people we have to kill forests" remains. As said the more people the more luxurious it becomes to give a lot of space to few people. Houses become a privilege where the majority is stuck in blocks.

If you were an adult you would have figured out that teenagers aren't equipped to understand how disorderly real life is as opposed to ideas in a bubble, and that if adults spent their lives explaining to clueless children that they don't have a clue, children would lack the predisposition to listen which would eventually lead them to having a fuarrrking clue about life.

I'm not saying that living space density is a solvable problem. However, all of these are solvable problems:
- quality of living space -- does it have good insulation and A/C if necessary? Do the pipes leak? Are there pests?
- quality of outside space -- are there parks? Are there plants and animals? Are there public bathrooms and easily accessible services?
- required work hours -- how much do most people really need to work to keep things running? I think it is between 10 and 20 hours a week. Logically, that amount of work should be all that is expected in return for food, water, shelter, medical care, etc. Why isn't it?
- personal space -- you posted a picture of some people living in cages. Yet there are luxury condos and office buildings sitting empty. Why must they be crammed into that tiny space when there is, in actuality, enough space for all of them to at least get their own small room?
I believe that all of these problems are caused by poor urban planning and poor distribution of resources. I believe that any true solution to these problems will be socialist.

With regards to land/density, https://www.ipsos.com/ipsos-mori/en-uk/public-hugely-overestimate-how-much-land-uk-densely-built I'd highly recommend looking up other relevant statistics about your own country (especially all you xenophobic Americans over there) would be very enlightening, as it is beneficial to capitalists to make you think the 'animalistic Chinese and Indians are breeding like rabbits' to dehumanise them and for them to peddle their eco-fascism. The posters in this saying 'the world is overpopulated' have hardly looked at the real statistics, it's just this vague sense of 'there's too many people in this world!' that is completely unfounded

The first step to cut work is to consume less.
We went the other route and filled increased efficiency with producing increasingly more crap with the freed up labor force.
Whats interesting is whether simulating goods might be cheaper than producing real goods. Might be a sensible answer to "why have a matrix" not because of some crazy harvesting scheme for rogue robots but just to save resources in a controlled manor.

>Where I live
Is this place a city? Probabilistically it is since that's where most people live! If you google the cities in China and their populations, you will be amazed, they have some of the most populated cities in the world and you'll have never heard of them. This isn't to say everyone should live this densely, but lets say the population of the Earth doubles soon... Will living in close nit communities be worse than genociding half the population? No, it is a problem, like any other, that humanity must overcome, not just brush over by killing people (note: it's always the Chinese, Indians, africans that are the subject of this cleansing). When we run out of landmass, we can build upwards. But if these skyscrapers are owned by capitalists we will end up in a miserable dystopia, however if these are created by the people we can have shared gardens and greenery and communities, etc

Not him but if you treat children like children until suddenly an adult what you're left with is a society of manchildren that only think they're mature, of which... yeah.. People forgot how to be mature before they even started.
Random · 2020-04-06 23:49
>>24468
This society of manchildren exists because children are treated as if they were all ready-made genius superstars in the making whose opinions are very important while everyone else - especially older people and their parents - are all stupid and ignorant. Which is partly true because it was their parents who put them in front of the TV and tablets, except they expected those devices to tell them this fundamental truth: you're not a man yet, you have to grow into one. They never feel the need to grow beyond the men they are, while they're really just children who have been told they're men while being taught to be consumers. So they get a hard reality check at 23 and they kill themselves. Don't you understand that it is the desire to become a man that turns you into a man?

If you were an educated adult, you'd be able to use a higher level of deductive reasoning too decide whether the opinion is founded in logic, or is an edgy teen opinion. If you can't tell the difference between these you do not belong on an image board. You don't need sources just any sort of logic, when you've been on the internet for a while you can see the same old tired opinions that people have by default, and it's very clear they haven't dedicated much time to developing these views. Much like you can't even understand what I'm saying, you just think I'm saying "NO SAUCE = BAD", no, there is more nuance in opinions and discussions.

Parents always soykafting on you is hardly a better scenario. You make it seem like it's binary, every household functions differently. You realise tablets have be around for like 10 years right there's no man children raised on tablets yet, maybe they will prove to be the cure to this societal disease that you have inexplicably made up.
All we need to do is get people educated, then they will realise what is important and stop consoooming so much. Ever known a mathematics professor obsessed with Disney garbage? (abolishing capitalism would help too considering that is the literal reason any form of consumerism exists)

See, you're proving my argument again and again. I said that young and inexperienced people should be taught to accept that more often than not, they don't have a clue and reading some high school philosophy doesn't mean they know better. This does not imply disrespect, you only perceive it to.

A strawman argument is when you misrepresent the position you are arguing against, in order to make your argument look better. Do you actually not understand the case for why that specific part of your argument is one or are you just not paying attention? BTW not right wing at all, this should have been inferred from what I wrote before. Ironic that you're criticizing others for making assumptions about your political beliefs. Right wing youtubers have the same issues I am criticizing you for. Consider being less like them.

my parents always scoffed at my views, and it made me grow up and learn how to defend my views.

Education is a small part of learning how to be an adult. You mostly learn from the adults in your life, or if there are no adults in your life you learn from tv. Hence why so many people from broken homes repeat the cycle, why so many professors are children of highly educated people, etc... I know that, personally, I would not be good with computers if my dad wasn't an engineer who encouraged me to experiment with his old work computers.

I'm not the person you're talking to but I fail to see how this is proving anything. Yeah every kid finds some philosophy and thinks they are smart, they naturally will outgrow these beliefs as they accrue more knowledge, unless you spend all day on image boards in a positive feedback loop. Parents aren't the issue, they should promote kids to read philosophy, the more philosophy the read the more they'll realise they haven't got it figured out. You've imagined a society of man children and are imagining a solution, all based off nothing but gut feelings.
>>24502
No one gives a soykaf about your logical fallacies dude it does not make your point more grounded in reason. I'm paying perfect attention, it is not my fault you choose to soykaf on the keyboard rather than make your point clear. Ah cherry picking me poking a little bit of fun at liberals, yes, the true pillar of logic and reason comes to show us all! Thank you for showing everyone how a true argument is meant to be made, at least when I joke I mould my opinion around it, rather than just write a large post of nothingness.
So have you got a response to my points at why UBI is bad? Oh that's right, you do not.
>>24503
My parents are idiots so they had no hope in teaching me, there is an in-between that works.
Education by definition is everything to do with learning to do things. It's very obvious intelligent parents habor intelligent children for a myriad of reasons, but if we actually had realistic and decent education systems we could bypass the need to have engineer/mathematician parents to show kids the way, and give every child a chance to do stuff they are interested in.
Sabo Engle · 2020-04-07 10:27

>Parents aren't the issue, they should promote kids to read philosophy, the more philosophy the read the more they'll realise they haven't got it figured out.
Kids reading philosophy LMAO. You're not equipped to read philosophy and figure out, for example, that anarchy is completely unachievable no matter how nice it looks on paper. Reading philosophy implies processing ideas. This can only happen through the personal filter of experience. Young people shoudl be taught to be receptive before they are taught to read what is mostly political propaganda.
>all based off nothing but gut feelings.
You dismiss experience as gut feelings, but you wouldn't feel comfortable being operated by a student surgeon who only read it in the books. Enjoy your theorycrafting.
Mitnick · 2020-04-07 14:53
>>24512
And how can young people develop filters without reading and learning, you fuarrrking dolt. It goes both ways (you may not be aware since it seems as though you don't read much), you can experience new things and tie these back to things you've read, you can reread books and gain new ideas, however if we lived in your world these books and ideas would be off limits to anyone below the age of 18, and what a dull world that would be.
> Philosophy books are propaganda
Ah we've found the philistine. If kids don't read and take in a wide range of ideas they become as single minded and dull as you are right here.
Your small insignificant experiences are gut feelings. You have no evidence of there being a 'greater number of man children' or anything, it's subjective speculation based off some soykafty superiority complex. There you go again extrapolating huge links and trends without any thought, there's a reason a surgeon would require years of training, as opposed to a kid reading philosophy and arguments. I want the surgeon to make no errors, however when it comes to a young person learning the ways of life they MUST hit dead ends and fail. That is how life and learning works.
