Let's share in a thought experiment, /hum/. I've recently been playing Chrono Trigger, and the central idea of that game is time travel and the distinctness of ''eras'' and how things have CHANGED - one of the ideas that stimulates my imagination the most. The idea that time is an eternal aether into which everything is submerged, molded and destroyed strikes me as a central driving force for all of human thought: coming to terms with impermanence.
So, if you were granted a time machine, which place in time would you most want to visit? For the sake of keeping triviality away from the question, let us say that we can only pick one or two ''places'' to visit. And only for a day.
I suspect many will wish to see Christ rise from the grave with their own eyes, or to gaze into the primordial sea of life. I myself would like to witness an ancient Sumerian battle between two city states, to see that our natures might be excluded from this ''aether'' i spoke about earlier.
Gather 'round, lainons, and indulge us in your wildest fantasies of this nature. Speculation is both permitted and needed.

Is visiting the end of the universe an option?

I would take the heinlein approach and return to the past to intercept my mother, become my own father thus becoming immortal through the temporal reconnection of my past and future selves.
The only way to come to terms with impermanence is to destroy it, or be destroyed by it. I, in my limited powers will do everything possible to overcome impermanence. Against these impossible odds I struggle on. I have beaten the odds for decades now. I figure i will keep betting on the improbable choice, so long as it is my choice to make.

probably. the end of time, or space? at which side? beginning or end? are there differences? where? are all of these questions unanswerable thought experiments that are the equivalent of liquor and television for people who think too much?
