I have a vision. I'm so convinced of my vision's importance that I believe executing it to be a moral necessity. If I fail to do so, I figure, and can't be convinced otherwise, that I may as well end up the a raving lunatic on the street, or just end it all. I can only stretch my own brain so far. The high-level overview already strains my faculties; some part of me can't fit my own imagination. I need strong technical backing. I need thoughtful, intelligent colleagues. I need to pit teams against one another to get the result I want. I need capital, economic and social. I need more power than anyone could hope to attain in a lifetime, but I promise it's for good. What steps shall I take to ensure favourable conditions? What experiences can only raise the likelihood of success? I'm young, I'm charismatic, I have more free time than I'm ever going to have again in my life, successful by my own mark or not. But, I'm dirt-poor, unknown, and confused in this great big world. I've got to build a well-funded skunkworks some way or another. I could become an SVP or a C-suite somewhere and divert corporate funds into research, and give clever folks concrete directions. I could launch some startup and use the funds and connections to connect myself to talent. I could save up for months on a suit and a plane ticket, and walk into some Silicon Valley gala like I know what I'm doing, get connected. I could get in touch with those heroes of mine who have email inboxes, making sure not to come off overly enthusiastic, turn them off, and burn a potential valuable connection. Unfortunately, those particular heroes are dying at an alarming rate. What's the secret sauce? Do I groom myself? Do I take speech enunciation classes? Do I plant some seed of recognition by executing and publishing some small subset of my vision, from which the whole cannot be deciphered and sabotaged? How do I really get into people's heads? How do I play American Psycho? How do I become an auteur, /hum/? How do I acquire power? I swear that my purpose is pure.

I've seen what happened to the idealists of the world. I've peered into the tragic past. I've seen Engelbart's vision ground into the dust and his legacy reduced to a single device. I've seen Ted Nelson cursed to a life of disappointment. I've seem AT&T lawyers singlehandedly set back computing by twenty years. I've seen Jobs condemned to an early death by his own magical thinking. I need to defend myself.

>>14667 Never do anything out of altruistic sense of good, people don't like that. Just have fun, and whilst having fun be a bit of a soykaflord, what can I say. Make it fun, have a goal but don't say it out loud keeping most things in the dark and always push yourself and others around you to greater heights. That will be more than enough to kickstart your movement. Also don't get dissalusioned that you're changing things. They are really hard to change and are only changed in small steps over long periods of time. Look even for Julian Assange. He did some change but never accomplished what he actually wanted.

Your first obstacle is recognizing the limitations of 1st order selfishness. If you cannot recognize the other as self, then you cannot begin to successfully act in your own best interest, much less in the interest of your greater vision. I am struggling with this same conception at the moment on my path to power. As I have dissolved the boundaries between myself and the other I have begun to better contain both and thus learned to own, and operate both to a greater degree of efficiency and subtlety. Everyone is selfish by default...The question is in what sense. A single self is powerless against the forces of an entire world brimming with selves of equal magnitude. A Self that encompasses all selves, a single self having learned to be, that is to own, the selves it comes in contact with as a part of it's world, dissolving their nothingness into your own nothingness can begin to approach change. Of course, they will change you. But that is a necessary part of the process of self discovery and the growth you seek.

You can cheat the system by using going down the deep well that is the occult and use magic. But dont think you will be sane after that.

>>14667 The honest answer is to write down your plan and provide a use to increasingly more powerful people. Become that “right hand man” to individuals that have what you need. Pseudo-power can become real power if you play your cards right and if you’re as dedicated as you say finding out who to work for is the first step. If you need more than you could attain in a lifetime then you have to leverage the foundations of those who hold hold power over things created in many lifetimes. That or start now to build something over your lifetime and bring in those who are younger to continue fulfilling your plan into their lifetimes. Hopefully you insert an ending to your plan otherwise it will grow like a fire and consume everything you hoped to create.

>>14667 >Do I plant some seed of recognition by executing and publishing some small subset of my vision, from which the whole cannot be deciphered and sabotaged? Do you really think that your personal jihad is so important that someone would want to sabotage it?

>>14667 >I swear that my purpose is pure. Riiiiiiight. The way you dance around whatever it is you actually want to do makes me distrust you even more than the megalomaniacal ranting does.

>>14668 >Engelbart >Ted Nelson I hadn't really read about them before, as I recall. Thank you for contributing. It was interesting. >>14693 I always hear these magic advocates saying things like "Don't expect to be able to fling fireballs. The power of magic is more subtle than that." Then, they fail to provide a concrete example of its benefits. What does it do for you? Is it just weird therapy?

>>14901 > I always hear these magic advocates saying things like "Don't expect to be able to fling fireballs. The power of magic is more subtle than that." Then, they fail to provide a concrete example of its benefits. What does it do for you? Is it just weird therapy? Im hardly an initiate, but i can tell that magic is real and it works when you do it right. Its not a placebo or a therapy to make you feel better. I can tell you that at first it does work in subtle ways, however i dont doubt that one can summon fireballs and co. It would seem that even 100ton stones can be moved into shape by telekinesis, i refer to merlin and stonehendge, some claim it was built by aliens, but i dont see why aliens would move large rocks if they could just make it out of concrete and etc. Magic can take any form you like, but you have to believe it, perception is a two way street.

>>14902 >i can tell that magic is real and it works when you do it right. Story time, please. Tell us what has led you to be able to say this with confidence.

>>14905 As i said so far my conclusions are subjective and only supported by observation and cross reference with literature. The world of magic is strange and subtle, one mans enlightenment is anothers schizophrenia. I have no real magic powers yet, but some things that made no sense to me now make too much sense to me. One day i will try to put the pieces i have together and put them in a shape that others can understand, but for now im afraid it comes down to you either believing me or not. There are many unexplainable things in this world, i have nothing on hand to show you right now, but if you do some research on your own you will see.

This is so fuarrrking chuunibyou it's actually sucking maturity out of everyone else around. This has to be a larp, right? Some kind of gag?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You are breaking Rule 3 and Rule 4. Always argue in good faith and avoid using personal attacks. You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. )
Turner · 2019-07-04 13:44
>>14911 >observation and cross reference with literature Could I ask you to provide examples of specific observations and literary works? I want to understand the magical perspective, and, in this case, I want to understand your perspective. >>14912 I'm pretty sure what is commonly called "chuunibyou" comes with the territory on this site. After all, many of us got here by sympathizing with the tale of an isolated girl who finds out she's a techno-demigod. I say we let it play out and hope that something interesting happens. Also, I see no reason to assume that every strange post is a gag or larp. There are people who legitimately have strange perspectives; that's just a fact. Anyway, OP sounds a bit manic, but the question is largely reasonable. There are, at least in theory, comprehensible, shareable methods by which one can increase one's power over nature and society. OP wants to know what those are. If you're not going to contribute to that topic, don't post. You don't have to police the board. We have mods for that.
