Happy Places - Moments of Comfort

ren · 2019-05-03 13:15
There was a thread a few years ago that discussed people's favorite comfy feeling things. Here is a log of that thread, if you are curious: https://pastebin.com/dinMDKVc I'll start, > Getting a program to work without errors on the first try. > Waking up early in the morning, just before the sun rises. > Enjoying the morning dew with all the other animals, no cars and no bustle (yet). > Discovering a new tasty recipe for your cup noodle collection > Finding an old piece of electronics (Computer, CRT, etc) along the side of the road > Taking it apart and harvesting its organs > When someone thanks you just for being alive > Petting a stray animal for a few minutes, maybe a few hours > Teaching someone something and seeing them use that knowledge in the future
Turner · 2019-05-03 14:30
Reading this list from the bottom up makes it incredibly disturbing.

>Car rides with friends >Quiet workdays with few or no customers, phone calls, or things to work on; just me, my laptop, and hours of free time >Hanging out with others on a game server and chatting, even if no one's actually playing the game, it's still many times more comfy than chatting on IRC or whatever >Driving down the highway at night for the hell of it >Cooking something new or improving on a recipe I've made before >Digging up something I made from my teens that I thought I deleted and realizing how much I've improved since then >Our one snow day of the year actually bringing enough snow that you can see it on the ground >Being able to work on something I just got inspired for without interruptions >Experiencing something that I missed out on in the past and thought I'd never make up for

I was back in my home country after not seeing my family for over a year. It rained the day before and the dry climate meant that, chances are, It wouldn't rain for another year. The next day, I found myself awake at dawn from pattering on my window. It was raining gently. I sat myself outside with a cup of tea, just like I did with my family years ago, and watched the rain fall. It was like I was welcomed home and I felt this inexplicable warmth in my chest for the rest of the day.

>doing opiates and watching japanese 4k walking videos >when you get motivation and clarity to program a solution to a problem you've had for a long time >looking at pictures of and thinking about the cyberpunk future Trying to make art or write based off of it.. >when you feel you've really connected with another being

>transient calls you out you think he's trying to bum change or a cig but he just wanted to say "nice jacket" >clarity after emerging from a bad shroom trip >waking up to absolutely no new new emails but the rss feeds are still full of webcomics >waking up and your bed hair looks good

>driving back into the civilization in the dark of 3 AM after whole day and night of spending time with my gf in the wild, some backwoods rode up the mountain, seeing the lights in the distance and woodlands in the immediate close distance around you

I live in a constant state of anxiety. No matter what I happen to be doing, deep down I always sense a certain feeling of dread. There are, however, few times where I feel completely at ease, like all my problems suddenly evaporate into nothingness. It usually happens when I'm studying something I really like, watching a good movie, or playing videogames. It feels good.

the first three sips of alcohol, just really relaxing and refreshing if it's beer. Before you start to get full of liquid and feel bloated, before you start to feel disoriented or sick.

>being cuddled up in bed with a sleepy girl been a while ;_;

I was riding my Honda to work the other day and I had this weird, light feeling come over me as I came out of a turn and watched the scenery of a nice nature preserve pass by. Realized after a bit that the feeling was hope, as in I had expectations for my life again. Not just total absence of desire or love, but some spark of wanting more. And believing it might be possible. Forgot how good a feeling that is.

I met someone and fell in real love. She got me a huge stuffed bear and a lot of flowers last Saint Valentines day. It made me tear up and I and almost cry, she hugged me so hard. One night I told her how safe she makes me feel and she got teary eyed and then hid her face from me. I'm going to ask her to marry me.
SHODAN · 2019-07-07 03:56
>>14662 1. Don't do opiates friend. 2. "Walking videos?" Is this really a thing anyone cares about watching? Is there a niche for this? I could make those.
Ivan Horvat · 2019-07-07 04:20
replaying old rpg maker games in early morning hours, around 3/4 am. I really love the nostalgic feeling it gives me
Naomi Nascimento · 2019-07-07 08:02
>>14904 that's great that you have distractions from your anxiety! >>14920 good for you! >>14967 damn, that almost made me tear up, good luck with her! >>14970 sounds comfy, got any recommendations?

> seeing the one good-looking building in the city light up at night > boyfriend sending a single letter in response to my paragraph of a message > picross puzzles while absorbing whatever video i have on in the background > lsd (the psx game on an emulator, sadly) at 2am

wouldn't really say this is a comfy feeling, but i got taken in for a full-time job for the summer, and even got offered to work after the summer, i have no experience with SEO but it seems interesting, and they're willing to train me. Due to my anxiety it always felt impossible for me to get a job, but i'm actually glad that i'm going out and doing this. I'm also really enjoying reading Dr. Stone

> turning away from your screen to look out from your window on a sunday > warm orange streetlights on cold winter nights > being the last person to leave the office > a cigarette doing that weird popping noise as you inhale

>>14662 >doing opiates and watching japanese 4k walking videos Is "walking videos" a thing that any real group of people care about?
Molly Millions · 2019-07-23 11:52
>>15174 There is an odd sub-culture around specifically 4K Japanese Street walking videos that has developed, but I wouldn't say it is exactly blossoming. It has the same care-factor as "low fi hip hop beats for studying" and asmr.

>wake up at 7 maybe 730 am >panic, jittery, sweaty, cold, scared >grab laptop, handheld, phone, chargers for both >go to bathroom >lock door, turn on light and exhaust >plug everything in >download roms and emus for games I'll never play and are obviously from low quality sites >lurk forums while I wait for dozens of downloads >they don't work/run >make them. repeat. >eventually fix enough fake things that I can eat >eat saltines >Finally. Peace. some days I get to leave the bathroom and post. But the bathroom is the comfiest place.
