So i'm new to this and just want to see if other people is the same. I find it funny how some of the most life changing moments of our lives is almost forgotten in some cases. I have been through some things that i barely remember but have had a huge impact on me. I have a big scar on my left arm and 4 smaller scars on my left cheek. The scars in my face is from a dog that bit me for no reason what so ever. I was at a guy that went in my class house beacuase my mother made me. I don't remember merely anything from that event. But that isn't the reason i'm writing right now. On christmas day a few years back I was told to walk our mentally unstable rottweiler. I was still pretty scared of dogs from the first accident. So I took out the dog for a walk in the woods and when I called my dog back to me and started going the other way I was bit in my left arm. I was schocked and paniced. The dog was still making quick bites on my arm. I tried to walk away and tell the dog to stop but i was unsuccesful. I walked maybe 4 meters but then the dog took a steady bite and dragged me to the ground. I must have been pulled in the arm for a long time beacuase the only reason I the dog stopped was beacuase my dad came and looked for me. I don't remember much of this and is mentally and physically scared from this event. I would have to endure alot of pain to get my myself to the state I am now. But mentally I will always have scars. It is like having ptsd. I have flashbacks on what happened sometimes and my body moves along to what i remember happening. Why does life have to be all about suffering. You can't say what you think. I always have to be angry or sad about things. I can't let my gard down beacuase idiots are everywhere. I am ugly and not that smart so I am looked at as a retard but the only way I can show that I'm not a retard is sharing my opinions and if I do that I will not succed later in life beacuase having free opinions is not accepted apparently. My best friend is my dad beacuase he gets me unlike the rest of my family. The most recent thing that actually made me happy is regain an old friend that i lost connection with beacuase he was afraid of rejection. So I wonder is this what rest of life will be? Just a game of who can endure the longest. I know this post is very back and forward but it is nice to ventilate some thoughts.

>>12586 Take a break from the source of distress, if I read this correctly, that is dogs. You say 'your' dog, maybe you should explain the fear to your family. I'm not saying you should hide from your problem that ain't good, work on it somehow. I would recommend seeing a therapist or anything alike, they deal with things like this as their job. Most of life is mundane, low and downright bad. But the few moments of accomplishment and joy keeps me hanging on. Focus on yourself, what makes you happy and advance in that area. Never stand still (only for needed brakes), make progress instead. Wish you best of luck random anom, you will get better!

>>12586 Dogs never attack "for no reason what so ever". You've been probably doing something very very wrong. Stay away from dogs if you don't understand their way of communication.

> Why does life have to be all about suffering. It's not but you have to source the happiness from within, without depending on external factors. Start somewhere here and then look around the site for short talks on training your mind into happiness: https://www.dhammatalks.org/ebook_index.html#/books/BuddhasTeachings/Section0001.html

>>12586 >>12688 Nothing does anything for “no reason” but we’re not dogs, so we’re not expected to read their mind.

i used to have a severe anxiety around dogs, to the point i was shaking when i saw one 20 meters away from me. this all started with an incident in my childhood when i was about 6-8 years old. me and my grandma were coming home with some groceries and then we were attacked by a pack of wild dogs. there were about a dozen of them. as i remember it, it was a literal nightmare. me and my grandma frozen, them running and circling around us, coming closer, trying to take a bite one at a time, grandma bashing their head with the fuarrrking groceries bag. it went on for about 3 minutes and then i lost consciousness out of fear. during that time, a group of heroic thugs (gopniks) helped to drive them off. you know what helped me overcome this fear? the god damn memes. memes and time heal all. at the age of 16 i realised that i'm not afraid of dogs no more. and i really do think that memes took great part in overcoming this fear. as much of a joke suggestion it seems to be, try watching some good-boy normal person memes on daily basis. they helped me to the point i once considered getting a dog as a pet. much love to you and everyone with their lifes <3

>>12694 Dogs communicate using body language. Humans do so too, but since we have spoken word we can fool ourselves into thinking that that is "the language we speak", when really most communication you have is through your body. You probably project the fear you feel towards the dogs, and probably stare at them. I read a book by the dog whisperer that talks about how to "talk" to a dog, and how to make it understand whatever you want it to. Maybe you should read something similar. Anyways best of luck.
