Self hacking the dopamine feedback loop of our brain
William Holtzer · 2019-02-03 23:50
In todays world we see a lot of tech startups and already established tech companies use the dopamine feedback loops to keep you addicted on their site or app.
I have been wondering if there is a way to use this dopamine feedback loop to make everyone control their own life. If you could say to yourself "I want to do this brain, make it enjoyable to me" then I think that would be interesting.
Do you know of any meditation or mind tricks that could do that?

If you get skilled enough with that you can do it.

Listening to music while doing [insert inane activity here] does the trick for me. After a while, it gets harder for me to focus on the textbook so I get annoyed and turn the music off. Haven't figured out why my brain needed that 10 minutes of music at the beginning of each study session for a long time but I see it now.

You can very easily hijack the habit centers of your brain. Read "The Power of Habit".

The joy of accomplishing a goal is suppose to be the feedback loop OP.
no one enjoys good habits when starting them, the repeated doing of good habits is what gives the loop, kinda like how your first cigarette isn't addictive, but the third pack is...

I want to make everything I wish for to be addictive to me, thats the idea.

you could
>meditate and convince yourself something is good
>create a chemical association with sugar or salt or other substances by consuming them while doing the activity you want
>fap while doing the activity you want (will create association that "activity = sexual gratification"
>get other people to encourage you (or find a bot that tells you nice things about activity)

Regular vipassana meditation (training your awareness by focusing it on your breath) helps me. Makes it easier to track why you want to do something, or why you feel a certain way, and hence to sidestep or change it.

L-dopa, Fava beans maybe a snack after or during completing a goal?
Though for me a motivation mostly relies on variety, no two days should be the same :) when the worlds interesting and new the world is fun! when you're having fun you can accomplish a lot.
