Some of us are nihilists, some of us religious, some of us some other weird metaphysical system, some of us trip balls. Regardless though we all have a system of morals, even if that system is just "do what makes you happy", and we also have things that conflict with our morals. I think it's good to consider the rules we hold ourselves too and how we struggle with them both to reflect on ways we might be closed off and also ways we could improve. Sometimes a moral guideline is as simple as "I refuse to associate with furries" or something silly remember. What things do you not allow yourself to do?
For completely arbitrary reasons one of my big morals is to be respectful always. I think it's just because I naturally lend myself to this kind of behavior. Being respectful involves trusting and believing other people, but not foolishly, and should they betray it it involves respectfully telling them what they did wrong and working it out even if that means just cutting them off. Even in situations where I might be right to be angry, I always apologize for out of line comments because I think the appropriate thing to do is simply express your anger as is rather then have it bleed into remarks and make you say things that aren't true.
My other moral guideline is a hierarchy of my friends. The friends I value the most inform future interactions with other people, what I will and won't talk about, and what i hold other people too. Basically if someone says something that would offend one of these friends at the top I take it as a personal attack to myself as well. It's a pretty tribal mindset and it's something I already had and just am able to describe to you like this as I've learned about it. Likewise I also have a moral rule of if somebody has consistently been by your side they are your friend even if you might not like their character. This is something I had to learn as I frequently would have a friend always around that I would be a real bully too, and then i'd always miss them later. I realized that these people that stick around by your side always while they might not be what you WANT they are there for you. I always remember to be happy with the friends I have because I know I'l miss them.
One of my morals I struggle with is that I differentiate between earthly pleasures and pleasures of a more transcendental nature. Drawing for example is a sort of transcendental pleasure. However drugs and even something as simple as listening to music or sex/masturbation purely for pleasure aren't (except in certain situations), but I also don't think you need to live without these more simple pleasures. Just that you can't let them control you and they very much control me a lot of times.
Another moral I have recently is I do not associate with people who practice witchcraft or voodoo or other such things. I used to be very anti superstitious but I dated some girl who was "wiccan" and I thought it was just some edgy stupid phase and almost thought it was like cute how into it she was. When we got on bad terms not good things kept happening, and she kept spraypainting this signage near my building. Of course I totally understand how this could be explained as confirmation bias and also
similar to that psychological hysteria effect. But regardless her psychological projection of sorts happened to work, meaning my brain has the capability to be cursed because deep down it "accepts" the idea it is, so true or not I do not mess with those sorts of people. I used to also be into it as an edgy middle schooler, and I tell the truth (thats another one of my morals, I only usually lie when I DONT want to talk about something), i buried a book I made full of spells I just came up with wandering the woods and the massive bush I buried it under died the very next day. Again totally potential coincidence, perhaps even a glitch in my memory, still safe over sorry. No devil soykaf as I call it.
Enough about me what about you amigos though. Pic is just a quote I hold close to me and remember.
