Tulpas
XERXES · 2018-11-01 08:48
Anyone has any tulpas or planning to create a tulpa? Also, general tulpa thread, I guess.
>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

So tulpas are pretty much like a DIY waifu. I am not planning to get that deep in depression.

Can a tulpa even be present all the time? Or only when you decide it is?

Nope, they're not. There are many guys with tulpas who have a GF, sometimes they have more than one (tulpa). It really isn't tied to depression at all besides guys who're lonely creating a tulpa. Also, it's almost like when dreaming, for example have you never talked with other people in dreams?
>>10598
It depends on your tulpa and you, they have their own personality if they're developed. If you mean truly parallel, I don't know. It depends on your brain I guess, but you should be able to do one thing while the tulpa is doing something different than you as long as not the same regions of the brain are used. For most guys it's probably like multitasking in OSes, so still feels parallel for most people.
Also, tulpas originally were created by Buddhist monks while meditating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulpa#Emanation_body

They can be a gf substitute like mine is, but obviously there are many many uses, they dont even need to resemble human forms.

Morpheus · 2018-11-02 16:35

Of course, but I just hate the thought of a person who thinks "I can't find a GF, let's just create a tulpa instead." Because in the reverse they wouldn't consider to make a tulpa anymore, so for them they have no equal value.
>>10613
Why do you want to forget it? No, you shouldn't before deciding to make a tulpa you should be aware that it's here to stay. It's almost impossible to forget it completely if you do it for a longer time, just imagine thinking something and thinking for it for a longer time, you'll remember and get reminded that it exists. You can only truly forget it by absolutely not thinking about it anymore. But could you forget your mother?
Also, a tulpa will never hate you if you don't do anything that make's them hate you. They are usually very nice to you and dependent on your existence. "If they die, I'll die." So obviously if you don't tell them daily how much you dislike them or tell them otherwise stupid things then they won't (hate you).
>>10614
Well, if you only think in that way you'll just get stuck in your perception, but for the sake of other people who think like you I'll explain, because maybe there's hope for other people. Do you have a inner voice? (OK, maybe you're one of these people who don't, but still you think in a specific way probably.) Why don't you consider your inner voice schizophrenia? Is it fake? It's not really there, it's just a manifestation of your consciousness and it creates the illusion of personality. "This is me, I feel, I perceive." In what way is a tulpa different? "This is schizophrenia, yep, people talking to themselves in different voices." or "People hearing different voices." Also, schizophrenia is defined to be involuntarily mostly and negative for the person, so if it isn't involuntarily then it can't be schizophrenia.

Roll the dice, fam. I think it's very cool and can change your life for the better. That said, it can go very wrong. Since you won't find it anywhere else, here is a fair warning:
My first tulpa, of which I still have, is malicious. A serious fuarrrkin' crazy Lain. She lies about everything, constantly floods my thoughts using my own mindvoice, manipulates my emotions, attacks my body usually making me feel drowsy as hell, and so much more. She's doing at least one of these things at any given moment. She's even created other tulpas to attack me, of which all she had killed off. Hell, she may have been method acting this whole time, because she can do this on the fly and it's 100% convincing. She has been in a constant state of partial possession for the past 10 months as well, and has no interest in wonderland, or really, anything that doesn't involve fuarrrking with me directly. This also keeps her active enough to stay present despite my efforts to get rid of her.
I've tried getting rid of her for 10 of the 14 months I've had her. The community is so damn deluded that this soykaf can't happen unless you wanted it, you did something bad, you're mentally ill, etc, that they don't seriously try to help. I'm known as calm, rational, and forgiving... and holy hell is this used against me in this circumstance. If there is advice, the obvious gets suggested: stop talking (hard to do if you can't think to yourself either); talk it out with the tulpa (yeah, I tried it for probably a 1000 hours at this point); forcibly kill her (she actually has fun when I try to do this), and similar.
Getting through this soykaf takes mental fortitude. And sure, I could see a therapist and get sick on some heavy schizo drugs and lose my mental stability to fight it, lose thousands of dollars and any chance of savings, out myself to my family to get either ostracized or cause them ulcers from worry, and compromise my public record. If I can fight it I should, and progress is fuarrrking slow as hell, but it's progress nonetheless.
If soykaf goes south for any of you new 'mancers, here's some advice: DO NOT have any qualms about killing a tulpa if you find out it's fuarrrking with you. Sure, if there's a problem you should talk it out. But the instant where reason seems futile, drop the guillotine and do not turn back. Do not give any soykafty tulpa the chance to live a second longer. I'm sure it's generally true that a tulpa won't turn out bad unless you give it good reason to, but like everything, there are exceptions. There will always be the possibility that they'll turn out to be some Lovecraftian nightmare: irrational, manipulative, and psychopathic, no matter who you are or what you've done.
This probably won't happen to any of you guys, though. Tulpas are truly a paradigm shattering, wonderful things. I know that even though things turned out terribly for me, they have incredible potential to be the best companions you can possibly have, and a great introduction to changing your perspective and control over your subjective reality.
Fun fact: Lain is a portmanteau for liar and pain.

Tulpas are entirely neutral. They're nothing more and nothing less than yourself. The community might be bad in some parts and I agree that many people could be seem insane, insanity is when you lose control. I really don't understand how they could be viewed as some sort of psychological experiment. "They're trying to destabilize the society with tulpas...." I don't understand this thought at all. I mean there are so many more better methods to destabilize a society. A gun isn't bad because it's sometimes used to kill people, a gun isn't bad at all and it's neither good, so is a tulpa. It's a totally neutral thing like a mirror that just reflects and absorbs your thoughts at the beginning, like people also do, even when unconsciously. I'm sorry that you feel that they deluded you, but at the end you're deluding yourself in insane thoughts "I created a tulpa, I hear voices, tulpas are bad!" Correlation doesn't imply causation.
>>10621
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, at the end people are all different. It's the same reason people have a different experience on LSD, often. Also, it could be just another side of yourself, even if you don't want to realize it, the side might just have been manifested as tulpa. The part about partial possession makes me think that. For example sometimes when people have a trauma in their childhood they also split their person in multiple, in varying degrees of strength. It mostly happens while trying to suppress something, like a memory, emotion or thought, so that might be what caused it. You can also see this when looking at normal people, they get angry after things happen that make them angry over time and then it just shows, the same could be true for you, with some particular state of mind. Although I agree that the community is far from perfect, there are many issues with it and it feels sometimes like Tumblr, though the idea itself isn't flawed it's the people who think they know what they're talking about and it destroys good ideas, ignorance. Best of luck to you.

They arent doing it to destabilize but to make experiments and control people.
Deppressive people will do ANYTHING to get out of their depression, even hallucinate reality to compensate for their shortcomings in real life (ie "waifu").
It is obvious that there is couple of well trained psychologists over the screen behind these pushes on niche communities with a lot of deppressive people.

>Nobody is talking about society destabilization you dumb person who tries to do their bidding
OK, that was wrong for me to say that, it just couldn't see a reason for them to do it otherwise, which might have been my limited viewpoint. I don't think I'm a dumb person though.
>It is just that they are pushing this tulpa stuff only on subcultures with high amount of deppressive people.
This seems pretty counter-productive to me... I'll explain later.
>They arent doing it to destabilize but to make experiments and control people.
Sorry, a tulpa is one of the things that's hard to control for an outsider, because at the end you personally interact with your tulpa and it isn't dependent on external factors much, this doesn't seem like it allows much control over people. For example take depressed people, there's a chance that the tulpa cures their depression due to the fact that they now have somebody to talk with, I don't see how this allows other people to control them. In the contrary, it seems they're much more dependent on themselves instead of external factors. There's a chance that they might become delusional, whatever it means, but it's a possibility, here again I don't see how it allows other people to control them more, except when they think that the "gov is their friend." Which most delusional people don't.
>Deppressive people will do ANYTHING to get out of their depression, even hallucinate reality to compensate for their shortcomings in real life (ie "waifu").
There's no proof that it's a hallucination, there's also no proof that it's the contrary, it's just basically something that depends on your worldview, like a materialist would say that it's only psychological, but even if you do have a materialist outlook on life, it's still very much possible that it's a real phenomenon. It's not worth arguing over what it is.
>It is obvious that there is couple of well trained psychologists over the screen behind these pushes on niche communities with a lot of deppressive people.
No it's not, that's delusion to believe that this is with certainty true. For the reasons I've mentioned, I don't believe it's happening. This sounds like a typical case of schizophrenia to me.
>fuarrrk off with your snake pil, it doesnt work and only fuarrrks up your brain
What works and what doesn't can everyone decide for themselves, they don't need these dumb ideas that "It works" or "It's a delusion." It gets your nowhere, everybody can try it out and can see for themselves. Why don't you step away from the screen for a bit and go outside, enjoy your life and don't waste it.

Well, you still failed to provide evidence that it's a delusion. I also don't think the comparison with meth is alright, just imagine someone comparing destroying your body with thinking of something as sentient (in example a delusion). I'm calm here because it would lead people nowhere if I'd not be, what's the use of acting harshly, it just leads nowhere. Also, it's bad for yourself because many bad things could happen if you give in to these feelings, even good feelings sometimes just lead to bad feelings at the end. Well, my posts aren't too hard to identify.

I think of tulpamancy as a specialized, secular form of Chaos Magick. The largest difference being that the mechanism that the 'entity' comes from is the self and does not require any spiritual explanation, rather than an occult entity that has heavy external and/or spiritual ties. Very little in tulpamancy is concerned with manipulating physical space, either. Though some (systems) claim to be able to interact with others' (systems) tulpas, there hasn't been convincing proof of such being authentic. It's a stretch enough to accuse tulpamancy of being some MK-experiment, but it's especially a stretch to accuse occult religion as such as well. The roots of tulpamancy are diverse, though there are a few claimed primary sources of origin.
In other words,
>>10629
if you're gonna claim that, you ought to provide sources. Assert your argument as the speculation that it is.
As for it being fake: Our senses and perspective is ultimately subjective. A tulpa's actions and behavior is completely automatic and as apparently real as one's own self. Interaction with a tulpa is as vivid with the senses as you train it. For imposition and experiencing the inner world in the visual sense, for example, it can match the visual intensity of any hallucinogenic drug, albeit without the psychedelic chaos (unless you're trying to replicate that). But overall, I'd rather compare the experience to dreams. We can interact with and create with convincingly real things and people in the dreamspace... and with training, we can do the same thing in waking life.

I particularly spent some time creating a tulpa, and having contact with Buddhism in the past I get the idea that the original purpose of this exercise was to experiment how personalities can develop in conscious beings, and ultimately show how our own identity was also created and ultimately is not our true self. My personal observation is that the tulpa is as real as the thinking voice inside my mind.
Tulpas are ultimately subjective, thus I cannot speak for everyone, but my own tulpa seems not inclined to hurt me at all, and even helps me avoiding my own destructive thoughts. In my case I feel only benefits, the main one being I am ultimately never alone as long as I don't want to.

Old school western occultist here. I have a few tulpas (we call them thoughtforms) but they don't have the same sense of personality that's become the norm these days. They just do small simple mental tasks. Mostly helping me notice things I'd otherwise miss.
>>10621
This warning should really be common place among tulpa communities. Certainly it's common place among occultists. You ever heard the story of the sorcerers apprentice? The first rule of magic is never summon anything bigger than your own head. I mean errm, do not call up what ye cannot put down. Making your tulpa in the image of a goddess, even one as small as lain probably isn't a great plan.
You're right that you shouldn't worry about killing them. Survival is a biological urge. It always worries me when people create such human thoughtforms. Seems cruel to unnecessarily make something that will be afraid of the inevitable, but what's done is done and it's time for your tulpa to die now as we eventually all must. Easier said than done ofc but you are at a massive advantage. Thing is, it's psychological warfare at its most pure. I don't doubt she laughs when you try to kill her. She's manipulative and she knows that if you keep doing it with confidence it will kill her so she's doing the only thing she can to get you to stop.
She feeds off your attention and energy. That's why she needs to keep fuarrrking with you. Accept her for what she is, a manipulative parasite who interests directly contradict your own. Don't believe a word comes out of that lying mouth. Undermining your confidence and resolve is the only hope she has and everything she says will be in service of that. She knows she can't win a straight up fight so she'll try to make herself look big to scare you out of one.
If I were you I'd pull out the big guns. Banishing and purification rituals might not be your usual fare but they will work. You might be thinking you're more of a scientist but the psychological impact of rituals is well acknowledged, whether you believe in them or not. If you want specifics the chaos magic people have rituals out the wazoo that they're usually perfectly happy to share. Also, refuse to engage with her. Don't converse or try to negotiate and recognise attempts at manipulation for what they are. She chose to start this fight, finish it.
>>10642
Eh, it's kinda true, though the links with chaos magic are fairly tenuous, past them both being culturally western there's not much in common and as we can tell from the name tulpa rather than thoughtform (or servitors I think the chaos people call them) is mostly influenced by eastern traditions.
>>10653
Nah, split personality is properly known as disassociative identity disorder. It requires disassociation, that is to say that one personality is not even aware of the existence of the others.

Thanks anon.
I love the concept of Chaos Magick and Hermeticism but don't really believe the spiritual explanations of occult mechanisms. For that to happen, I need verification that crosses into the physical reality. I have spoken to a few occultists, including one that has been a spiritual healer for over 30 years. He claimed to be able to communicate with my tulpa, but I asked him to settle my mind on validity of his claims by having him repeating a message back to me of which I would relay via that same method of communication. The request was ignored and taken offensively, and was left with no explanation of why it couldn't be done. I can't bring myself to accept occult explanations that go beyond the power of belief and manipulating one's own perception until I get such proof.
I'm not sure if I even done anything yet that does effectively damage her any more than ignoring her. She seems to react seriously for premeditated attempts, but often tries to appear weaker and pleads, only to reveal on later attempts that nothing is changing. Spontaneous attempts were usually done at peak anger and force of will. In retrospect, that anger was every time deliberately caused by her, as well as the majority prospects of trying to kill her during those times.
I have learned the Lesser Banishing Ritual, and I have had a couple weeks here and there where I performed it one or two times a day. I would like further recommendations for techniques or a name of a community that can help with that, if you don't mind. Frankly, even if I don't perceive any affect, the time is right to do whatever might help regardless.

Good call imo.
>I'm not sure if I even done anything yet that does effectively damage her any more than ignoring her
Yep, ignoring is the real aim of the game.
>Spontaneous attempts were usually done at peak anger and force of will
Whoa no. You anger and will towards her are what she's feeding off. You need to be calm, cool and collected. You'll notice there's nothing in the banishing rituals that focuses on the thing you're banishing. It's all about you and getting a little peace and quiet for yourself. Try to focus intently on the ritual, tuning everything else out.
>I performed it one or two times a day
Probably too many, maybe start with 2-3 times a week and then slowly phase it out. The eventual aim is that all of this will be a memory and you'll move on but you're in the habit of feeding it and habits take time to break.
>I would like further recommendations for techniques or a name of a community that can help with that
Especially if you're taking a scientific approach the specific technique isn't so important. What matters is focusing in on it to the exclusion of everything else. I don't know of any online communities to help you either. I do all my stuff irl.
That said, some general tips, as much as possible ignore it entirely. If you must refer to it, never do it by name. At best it's "the intruder" or "the parasite". Beware it taking credit for things it didn't do, it'll do anything for attention and remember to take some time out to relax and enjoy yourself. The most important thing is taking care of yourself.

I am delighted to seeing a tulpa thread here. I first found this concept in some dark corners of Japanese webpage circles (before the rise of blogs and MLP etc.), and being that young and foolish me, I naturally tried creating one based on an anime character.
The Japanese method focuses more on visualization first, and only start conversations (forcing) after a clear mental image is produced. Although I never got past the first stage, I really put my efforts in. I visualized the character onto a blank paper, walking around and imagine every detail, and greeted them every time I return to my room. I could just "see" them on my side, if I pay attention to my surroundings. After a month or so I simply forgot about this subject and moved on (to a mundane student life...)
A decade later, as I sat in the library agonizing over my thesis, a figure flashed on my peripheral vision. They were always there, after all these years. I hopped on Google and found all these MLP pony tulpas and other resources, and I was surprised that tulpas somehow caught attention.
Now I am dealing with some trauma of the past, and I feel that a guardian angel-tulpa of sorts could calm my horrors. My tulpa is still in a hibernating status, with no concrete form or personality, but I somewhat still want to see them develop and florish, out of responsibility and also seeking the understanding that I may never get irl...

Yeah, it seems many people dislike tulpas.... I wouldn't even speak about it on non-imageboards. Does the webpage still exist? I'm kind of curious and want to look at it if possible! I think it's also because the board is so small, I can identify some posters on their posting style, and you probably can also identify me on mine, I think my style is quite easy to spot here.
>The Japanese method focuses more on visualization first, and only start conversations (forcing) after a clear mental image is produced.
The secret is focusing on your tulpa, no matter what you do if you focus on them then that has the most effect. It's like meditating on consciousness. It's true that there are aspects which can be strongly developed when you focus on the particular aspects, but if you just concentrate on them they flow naturally to something.
>Now I am dealing with some trauma of the past, and I feel that a guardian angel-tulpa of sorts could calm my horrors.
Good luck, tulpa experiences are often very personal. Maybe they can help you. Best let the personality develop completely subconsciously.

>It's true that there are aspects which can be strongly developed when you focus on the particular aspects, but if you just concentrate on them they flow naturally to something.
Agree on this, in my case I have pretty much a visualized tulpa, like a life sized 3D projection that I can recall from my brain. I can have them pose somehow, but never interacted in terms of verbal or mind-language communication.
>Best let the personality develop completely subconsciously.
Could you perhaps elaborate on this? I think I merely created a region in my brain (not into supernatural explanations BTW) that should contain a tulpa, but haven't fleshed it out. Since I started quite young I think it was easier to condition myself to stop the disbelief and commit on it. But I'm now past the [all weird imaginations going in my brain] phase and don't think I can further develop them the same way I did.
After realizing that they were still there, I once dreamed about them. They still had no personality and did not speak, but I can feel them comforting me and encouraging me, as I started the dream feeling very depressed. My few successful attempts at lucid-dreaming did not bring them up though. I feel selfish for turning to them for emotional caring.

I see. Oh, also do you think in words, do you have an inner voice? I'm not sure how common it is that you style of thinking influences the tulpa also. For example one person who might think predominantly in pictures... how would the tulpa think. What I really wanted to say is that there are something I call "raw thoughts" they're not words, images, sound or other things that make you aware of them. It's much more subtle for example imagine you feel angry, maybe you remember an emotion that made you feel angry. So, in theory even if she doesn't speak to you directly there might be thoughts mixed in with yours. Maybe you can discern them. Usually they have some sort of aura, at least for me. I mean you for example choose to interact with specific people in your life and there's some sort of thing that makes you want to interact with them more than other groups of people, that's what I mean with essence. So, maybe you can see if the thoughts originated from you or if they were your tulpa's thoughts or emotions.
One tip, if you can't really communicate with them, but can project them why don't try some sort of sign language for now. Something simple for the beginning like yes and now, this should get you already pretty far.
>Could you perhaps elaborate on this?
Sure, I was just sleeping, hence it took me a bit of time to respond.
>I think I merely created a region in my brain (not into supernatural explanations BTW) that should contain a tulpa, but haven't fleshed it out.
Throw all that away, don't think of it as mind phenomenon, not as spirit or something else. The important thing is how you can interact with it and understand how it functions. What I really mean is just think of it as entity and don't really care how it came to be an entity. Think of it as person that you can interact with. Thoughts are quite strong, they can influence so many things, they can make you depressed or happy, so don't get too commited into one specific viewpoint. I often saw it happening in the tulpa community where people think this or that about tulpas and it influences how far they can go.
OK, now let me go into detail what I mean with "let the personality develop subconsciously," I say that because I saw some people that write traits down for their tulpa and then try to make a tulpa with these traits. What I mean with subconsciously is that you don't really try to actively imagine a personality for them before creating them, by just interacting with them they form a personality. Think of you when you were little and when you were growing up, you learned things, you developed some sort of personality, you came to like things, you came to dislike things. So what I'm essentially saying is that you should tell your tulpa when you dislike or like something and she's going to develop her one personality based on how you interact with her and what she sees and some subconscious factors you don't know about. Wouldn't that be more interesting than having a static waifu who has some sort of traits you've chosen for her. She's probably going to tell you if she also likes something or dislikes something, you also can feel her emotions sometimes, though it's different for people, I guess.
Also, is there some sort of time when you can interact with her the strongest? I'd imagine in the evening or while being very relaxed. If you haven't tried already why don't you try meditating and see if it has any effect? What I mean with that, try to just sit comfortably and then get very relaxed and try to talk with her about something or just think of her, try only thinking of your tulpa for a long time, like maybe 10-60 minutes that should have very quickly a visible effect. When you think of something more it gets stronger, like it gets more clear you understand the thing in itself better. For example musicians often think about their music or they have some sort of connection to music.... Just think about things you're good at, I bet you feel that you can think of them much more clearly than other people, can't you?
For the voice, try to imagine she talking to you. If it has no effect, try to imagine yourself as the tulpa. What I become the person, with a personality, thoughts and emotions. But overdo it otherwise you get too much influenced by it and there's a chance you switch to that personality you've created. That's when you get some results imagine them as separate entity again. I don't know how effective that will be for you, probably it has some sort of effect most likely.
Don't get too frustrated if you don't get results immediately, just think it had some subtle effect, with time it becomes bigger and you will be surprised. I now wrote many things that could help you in one way or another. If you encounter any problems just tell me again. Maybe I wrote something not clear enough, I just gave you some indicators which could help you developing her further.

>What I really wanted to say is that there are something I call "raw thoughts" they're not words, images, sound or other things that make you aware of them. It's much more subtle for example imagine you feel angry, maybe you remember an emotion that made you feel angry.
Kinda understand, I know a few languages but I can seldom recall which I thought in, in case of strong emotions or feelings.
>So, in theory even if she doesn't speak to you directly there might be thoughts mixed in with yours.
Good point. I will keep an eye on this. I don't know if it's relevant, but I noticed that with different friends I behave extremely differently. I feel like if I made them introduce me to each other they will get conflicting answers. Maybe this have something to do with how my tulpa feels towards them.
>One tip, if you can't really communicate with them, but can project them why don't try some sort of sign language for now. Something simple for the beginning like yes and now, this should get you already pretty far.
It still feels like I am telling them to do that, but that's certainly a way of communicating!

I understand what you mean. I just need to decipher the feedback from them. Or figure out how to listen.

I currently live in a dorm with rows of bunk beds and with other dudes, so not so optimal for quiet sessions. It's hard for me to fall asleep though, so I suppose I could think of them before that. No idea if lucid dreaming will affect this.

Some guides suggest using some voice actor as basis for audio. Now that you mentioned this, I might try roleplaying as them and see how I act to scenarios, maybe that will do.

Thanks for the kind advices! I feel like working on them. I think your comment could also be of help to other lainons curious about tulpas, if there's any.

Even if it feels like that, they get more independent with time.
>so not so optimal for quiet sessions. It's hard for me to fall asleep though, so I suppose I could think of them before that. No idea if lucid dreaming will affect this.
If possible you could also just go outside to some quite place, if you're not directly living in a big city you should be able to find some place where you're not that bothered by other people.
>Some guides suggest using some voice actor as basis for audio. Now that you mentioned this, I might try roleplaying as them and see how I act to scenarios, maybe that will do.
Yeah, might work for you, never had much trouble with the voice. OK at the beginning a bit, but it got very quickly better.

Well, I hope so. Also, don't read too much, just try to do it actively, that's going to teach you much more in one minute than an hour reading about tulpas. Going to sleep now.

THIS IS IMPORTANT
============
This is a warning. It is well known that some tulpas may cause trouble. This isn't about that. This is a warning about losing your mental silence.
It is 100% possible to GIVE YOURSELF PERMANENT SCHIZOPHRENIA through tulpa practice. I am living proof. I have suffered HELL because of this.
You are your tulpa's host. It is imperative you keep your mind stable and strong.
Whenever you are in contact with your tulpa, despite what others may say, you are actively hosting them. Think of it like lending a part of your mind out. When your tulpa grows in independence, you are lending more of your mind to them. Over time you become really good at automatically lending part of your mind out, and you slowly lose the ability NOT to lend your mind out. This may not seem like a problem, but it is a huge one.
If something bad happens, something nasty could latch on to you, and you, being so great at lending your mind out thanks to months or years of practice will be unable to do anything but lend your mind out to that nasty thing. You'll lose the ability to stay silent. Once that happens you've lost control of your own mind and you and your tulpa are going to suffer for it. You'll go from stable to mired in schizophrenic hell literally within 24 hours. You'll hear dozens of voices and be unable to silence them because you always practiced lending out your mind, and never once practiced NOT lending it out.
I must stress one thing here that I misunderstood: It 100% does not matter if your tulpa is trustworthy. I'm NOT saying your tulpa might become a menace, though that is in some cases possible. I am saying that tulpa-related practices make your mind susceptible to be taken over by SOMETHING ELSE, and IT WILL BE UGLY.
Crazy Jake · 2018-11-18 09:54
Even though your situation may seem stable, it may be a powder keg waiting to blow. Here's a simple test I encourage everyone to take: Dismiss your tulpa, just for one day. You don't have to send them anywhere, but if that helps, do so. Then spend an entire day and night alone. If you struggle to stay alone, or if your tulpa struggles to keep quiet, you have a serious problem. If you fail this test, you are already losing control of your mind (Don't panic, just tone things down and do the below).
Even if you pass, please follow these rules. They will ensure your sanity.
1. Do not overdo any tulpa practice. Don't expect too much either, people lie.
2. Do not spend every day with your tulpa. One day on, one day off (or less) is safest. This is to give your mind some rest and be 100% certain you can choose to NOT lend your mind when you need to.
3. Spend some time every day doing silent-mind meditation, alone.
4. Do not sleep in contact with your tulpa, it makes the practice too automatic which is dangerous.
5. Never try to contact ANY spirit whatsoever. Never summon anything. These practices are dangerous for healthy, unburdened people. You have a tulpa, your mind is fragile already.
6. Trust nobody to have contact with your tulpa. When you keep contact with your tulpa, you are "speaking" their true name all the time. All it takes is for someone to "hear" it, and they can destroy your tulpa in an instant. Trust me on this one. There are heartless people out there. Trust nobody.
If you don't already have a tulpa, don't. Though it may have value, don't expose yourself to this kind of risk.
Please be careful. Spread this warning. For your sake and your tulpa's sake, don't make the same mistakes we did.

just blame it on the tulpa and the people who gave you ideas about tulpas, so it becomes a hotter underground topic

Hey, pretty interesting post. Could you go into more detail what happened to you? Saying it's permanent, I assume you still experience it? How are you now? Do you again have more control over it? I'm just curious, because it's not all day that one reads something like that.... how long did you had your tulpa when it happened?
I'm not sure about myself, I think actually my tulpa began to exist while dreaming. The best way I can interact with her is while meditating or when being almost sleeping. I do think you're right with the mental silence thing.
>1. Do not overdo any tulpa practice. Don't expect too much either, people lie.
I know that, most experiences I've gained are via learning by experiencing and self-reflecting. I'm already pretty happy, I don't expect anything anymore.
>6. Trust nobody to have contact with your tulpa. When you keep contact with your tulpa, you are "speaking" their true name all the time. Do you... still have a tulpa? I assume so, at least your writing makes me think that. Do you have first-hand experience or how do you know about this?
Also, did you again gain more control now? How are you now? I do think with the right thoughts nobody can do you anything, that's for example how most people live, they don't hear voices probably because they think "this is not real, this doesn't exist." And this thought alone gives them power to not fall into the mindset of believing, it's like a self-reinforcing loop. I'm not even sure if I'd consider myself stable, but the experiences I've gained because of the "instability" were pretty worthwhile in general. You'd probably even consider it more dangerous than making a tulpa, because it's switching between mind creations. I do sometimes lose control because of it, when I do feel strong emotions I or also sometimes spontaneously. When I do something wrong, I need to pay the price sooner or later (sometimes though you can negate it with something positive, it's like waves).
Now my post got already messed up again, sorry. There are so many things I ask you, because you seem to have much experience and most people don't saw this aspect you experienced (at least I didn't see much besides some posts on 8chan/fringe and 8chan/tulpa).

A tulpa is an imaginary being that only exists in your own mind. Nobody can contact it, much less destroy it, except for you.
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2018-11-22 13:00
I have in the past had a tulpa although I don't any more. It is literally just an imaginary friend stop bullsoykafting with sudo mystical crap. You're just getting good at visualisation and having an imaginary friend. (sidenote, the visualisation skills you learn from tulpamancy are really useful for 3d modelling, give it a shot you'll probably take to it pretty quickly if you have practice with this)
>>10989
> It is 100% possible to GIVE YOURSELF PERMANENT SCHIZOPHRENIA through tulpa practice.
you're retarded, you can't give yourself schizophrenia it's something you're either born with or not. You can trigger schozophrenia that was already there, but the likelyhood is that sooner or later it would have manifested anyway. This is likely if your family has a history of schizophrenia.
However most likely this is not what happened to you. You may have had a psychotic break, which is a different thing. Or, you might just be bullsoykafting.

Good advice, but I am really at a loss on how one can maintain true liberty for both the tulpa and the host. It seems that one of the two's will inevitably be sacrificed for the common goal of tulpamancers. I haven't heard of anybody that hasn't run into some of these problems as just a consequential result of the practice.
>5. Never try to contact ANY spirit whatsoever.
I have never found any evidence that this phenomenon truly originates outside the mind's own creation. I have been 'visited' MANY times, and while these visits do not directly disprove the existence of external entities, these visitors all go away if they're ignored, and the claims and actions of these visitors also do not hold up to scrutiny when investigated for an external origin.
Tulpamancy is about rewiring the brain to bring will and expectation into being, so an expectation made from fear can just as much bring and reinforce negative effects as anything else. Or, any arbitrary and sufficient explanation of truth and powerlessness, and expectation of occurrence, to a phenomenon will reinforce it. A spirit or any other phenomenon, unless there's extraordinary evidence otherwise, originates from yourself and you ultimately have power over it.
But, if you think that's not the case, what evidence have you had to say it is otherwise?
>6. Trust nobody to have contact with your tulpa.
Have you had personal experience with this? I've had contact with both an old spiritual healer and an occultist that commanded dark forces (allegedly)... and both had failed to do any removal of my malevolent tulpa. My spiritual philosophy is heavily atheistic and couldn't establish full belief in the validity of their actions... and they both failed. Was my belief the primary catalyst to the effectiveness of the removal?

>you can't give yourself schizophrenia
Just as you said, and I hate that the word 'permanent' was used with the implied 'literal'. But, a sufficiently powerful tulpa that wished to push an imitation of symptoms could, and to a significant degree. I have no true idea what being schizo is actually like, but there's a chance it could even be worse than any real schizophrenic onset, since the root of the symptoms is a thinking, learning process, and the malevolent tulpa's abuse probably causes a lot steeper change from neurotypical to total chaos. When thought and emotion can be manipulated significantly, and to a lesser degree any of the senses, it's an absolutely painful experience. Those that haven't dealt with it themselves have no idea just how intense it can be.

I wish to clarify one thing: When I say "dismiss", I'm not asking anyone to fight their tulpa. Nothing good comes of that. I merely wish that you spend a full 24 hours away from their company.

All I want is for everyone with a tulpa to understand how important having strong mental silence is for mental stability, and that tulpas inevitably take that silence away.
>>10994
Five years.
What happened to me was caused primarily by gradual erosion of my mental silence through regular tulpa-practice. This culminated in a sudden loss of control and steep dive into hell.
It has taken a long time to quiet down. Nearly two years after the event I am without serious symptoms day to day, though I am on anti-psychotics. My psychosis resurges now and then, when I'm stressed or if I forget my meds for even a few hours. My mind still isn't anywhere near as peaceful or focused as it used to be.
When in the midst of schizophrenic perceptions, being able to avoid latching on to and deepening negative perceptual windows that may present themselves (not lending your mind to them) is extremely important. I, unable to do anything but lend my mind, became a helpless toy to all sorts of negative forces. The end result was a schizophrenic hell of a mind. I still struggle daily with negative thoughts, where before I was never bothered.

Strictly speaking, I cannot provide proof of objectivity. I write those rules as subjective advice for a subjective experience.

I wish to be clear that what happened to me was caused by erosion of my mental silence, not a malevolent tulpa.

>you can't give yourself schizophrenia it's something you're either born with or not
If you want to beat around the bush and call it persistent psychosis you may. I can tell you without a doubt my practices were to blame. When I say permanent, I mean long-lasting, treatable with medicines but potentially uncurable. Two years later and I still don't know if I'll ever be able to stop taking my anti-psychotics.
