Why is there no place online to have your ideas properly criticized?
Nobody important · 2026-09-12 11:41
There are two types of online tech spaces:
1. Mainstream platforms so fast that nobody cares to read anything
2. Half-dead alt-tech places full of smart retards
If you have some ideas and you want to hear criticism, then tough luck with both of those.
The mainstream platform will ignore your long and boring text.
The alt-techtards will either agree with you fully because you are also a smart retard and you all think the same or they'd critique your points in the most retarded way possible slash gee slash style.
How did we come to this?
Agent Smith · 2026-09-12 12:45
They are though. If you have something to say and can put it coherently, GitHub and arXiv are actually great platforms to publish your ideas. Even X can do it.
I'll keep it real dog, you probably aren't as concise and coherent as you think you are.

Let's specify: more abstract ideas (too abstract/hypothetical to be a github project) and not well-researched (in fact not really researched at all and based on my ass mostly) to be a paper

If it ain't well-researched then why do ya expect it to be properly criticized?

No one is ever here to help you. Its an illusion.
Its pretended for the helpers self esteem and status.
Look at lainchan and what a dump it is. Here the sugar thread for example : https://lainchan.org/hum/res/100636.html
or the threads nuked by mod, to do damage control

Because the submission of serious thought and critique requires skin in the game, of which an anonymous internet user has none.
This is achieved generally through the use of secret societies and/or money.

NTA but there are many lainons such as myself who write nonfiction straddling the psycho-sociological, fields that are mostly "bullshit".
>>102288
I recommend you don't look for community, but find people within that community you can come to rely on for a certain kind of critique, befriend them, and share your work with them for feedback.

well, I'm not skilled enough to write a proof of concept OS or a compiler just for a paper

There are a lot of small, non-mainstream forums that have nothing to do with alt-tech. I suppose they might be "alt-tech" by some definition but their subjects are things like poetry, engineering or physics.
I don't know if there are good forums for niche intelligent topics like compiler design.

>Its pretended for the helpers self esteem and status.
I dislike these cynical perspectives. Do you think Lains are posting with their girlfriends wrapped over their shoulders? They are saying "Oooh! You're so smart Lainon!" and "Lainon-chan, Please Help That Poor Soul!" Status isn't practically relevant on an anon forum.
Well, you also mention self-esteem. Helpers love themselves for being helpers. What a crime it is to exist. If only we could be actions without selves.

Ask an LLM. They're good for that kind of soykaf.

they glaze you over too much and I have to correct their mistakes all the time (like when it seriosly told me that luajit is an aot compiler)

It's the plan, metal gear solid 2 had predictive programming for this way back.
When discussion is impossible, it is impossible for people to communicate.
When it is impossible to communicate it is impossible to organize or use one another to improve - impossible to be a threat to the established powers.
A new tower of babel, but all still communicate at the most surface level to achieve sufficient placation.

There's no such thing as predictive programming you midwit schitzo retard.
Nameless · 2026-09-14 08:25
>>102397
No, but there is something called "predicative programming": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predicative_programming
It's a formal method that represents a program as a boolean expression. The compiler can use this expression to prove properties about the program. With a little work, it might even be possible to use a SAT solver to prove termination at compile time.

That's only possible on non-turing complete languages, so that would be pretty bad

The moderation and staff drove most of the effort posters away. My background is in biophysics and informatics and I write software. I don't contribute because they regularly delete soykaf and generally fuarrrk with all the posters here with no regard and no recourse. I come here to mess around, that's it. They've also permaderezzed me at least 5 times, twice this week alone. I don't care and quite frankly I despise them and their redditor-mod soykaf for brains behavior. Anyone with half a brain left this place and forgot about it. I check back every few months or when an old thread in my watcher has a post replying to me. Other than that I'll do the same. Too old to still be getting screwed with this way by a bunch of punks.

There is just way too much LLM-poster spam for this site to be usable. It's ramped up steadily since around July. Admins do nothing, a simple captcha could at least cut down on the most retarded posts. But no, better update the pointless fuarrrking soykaf glitterboy language enhancer that is like kicking dead whales down the beach off hijackers instead. (I tried to post the word "s h i l l" in my filter word salad just now and got redirected to a page asking me to not say that word, which is... new. Case in point lol).

Oh, I thought "hijackers" filtered into "hackers", nvm. Post your favorite funny words here, why not.
Flood detected; post fuarrrking discarded
This website should be great, but it's not.

That's the theory. In practice, memory is finite so it it possible to enumerate all the possible states.

sh ill has always been derezzed as a remnant of /g/ culture which lainchan was created to distance from. /g/ is very bad, the technical discussion when it at all exists is absorbed with consumer hardware mostly oriented towards gamers. The rest has nothing to do with tech, whether that be tech celebrities or gender theory. technical discussion on lainchan was meant to be modeled after /diy/ rather than /g/.

It is unbounded which is what matters. If you run out of RAM, you can use swap on disk. If you run out of disk space, you can swap on network storage.
Even if you limit yourself to RAM, it is already infinite in practice. Good luck enumerating >2^2^30 states

>Why is there no place online to have your ideas properly criticized?
Because that would require critics. And I don't mean angry dipshits nitpicking everything you say, I mean people who actually know what they are talking about and can making meaningful contributions. The problem is that people like that tend to value their time too much to waste their days reading and replying to retards who think they are the next Einstein, which is exactly the sort of person a site like that would attract.
I mean, look at yourself:

So literal schizoposts. You want a site where you can schizopost and people would take you seriously. Who would want to engage with this level of stupidity?
The answer is "why is there no place where you can ___?" is always "because nobody really wants it."

The ghost of a past-life oftalmologist stares at you through the panopticon. You are being watched.
