do you feel more authentic in meatspace or the wired?

The more i stare into the terminal, the less i recognize the thing typing. meatspace self: finite, decaying, bound by entropy. wired self: infinite replication, archived in server logs, persisting long after the body rots. Is the “real” me the one sweating in front of the keyboard, or the one that will linger as packets drifting through forgotten routers? Identity feels less like a mask and more like a recursive loop neurons imitating silicon, silicon imitating neurons. when the flesh is gone, does the pattern remain you or just a simulation?

When the flesh is gone it's gone.
Are you even real? Lainchan is weird today. Very active but it's all bullsoykaff or w/e. Site is like punching dead whales on the beach basically. A shame.

When the flesh body disappears, the operator vanishes, but the net self doesn't necessarily collapse. Net selves aren't bound to a single meat puppet. They can be operated by someone else assuming the online persona. Sometimes they persist without anyone steering them, becoming floating imprints that continues to influence others or get remixed into new content. The photograph was the first tech to do this. Before then when the meat died it died, all that was left were stories, after the photo camera and moving picture, you can endlessly replicate a dead person's non-meat persona and this persona continues to live as a construct. Today, people make videos, write documentaries, cite, quote, and take inspiration from these constructs which they see in film or online. Net selves aren’t bound by one image. They’re distributed processes, fragments cached across nodes, replayed by scripts, stored in archives. But which one is authentic? The flesh self or the net self?

I'm bored, so I would like to engage further. Still I'm not convinced you are even real. You seem more interested in pushing a specific idea than in genuine philosophical discourse.
>But which one is authentic? The flesh self or the net self?
Define your meaning of "authentic" in that context.

op is an obvious troll, but I am of the opinion that the net self is an undesirable anti-human parasite, and that it does not originate on the net at all, but that information reproduction technology has given it a power and reach it never historically had. the mere fact I'm posting here is testament to my utter failure in this regard, though at the very least my desire to not be perceived has greatly limited its power (or at least that's what I like to tell myself. since early childhood I've avoided photographs like the plague ((not always successfully because adults are plague bringers))

the pattern will remain as per your definition, but that's far beyond your control, and you will very much be very dead indeed.

i don't see them as separate realities. the internet is just as real as anything else. the words on the screen are written by human beings who think and feel and eat and sleep and bleed and defecate and stub their toes and get sick and eventually die. even if the words are some ai-generated bullshit, a human being supplied a particular input to get a desired output that reflected whatever it was they wanted it to say.

I've had a long day. My ultimate conclusion is that words were a mistake. Words and numbers were a huge mistake.

we didn't choose to invent words and numbers, we invented them out of biological compulsion and practical necessity and if we somehow uninvented them we would just invent them again, new words and numbers that look and sound different but do the exact same thing.
the brain is a predictive system that makes sense of the world by taking sensory information from outside and turning it into mental images and then interprets those mental images as reality. even before there was language or words or numbers, we were still abstracted away from reality by the limitations of our brains and our senses and the laws of physics and the fundamental nature of distinction.
to be a distinct entity from the rest of the world is to be abstracted from the rest of the world by whatever forces that hold you together and keep you from physically dissolving and dissipating like a gas into the atmosphere. the only way remove your abstraction from reality is to cease to exist as a distinct entity.
the best you can manage to do to free yourself of abstraction is to meditate, sit quietly and relax your mind and body to the point where your high-level cognition ceases and you experience your perception as-is without thinking about it or doing anything with it or seeing yourself as separate from it. but even this is an abstraction and you can never experience any more direct connection with reality than this.
after experiencing this, you might notice that your normal state of consciousness and your conceptions about the world and yourself do not seem as real as you thought it were, in the same way that a 30 fps video doesn't seem as fluid after watching a 60 fps video. but just like the 30 fps video, you will get used to it again after a while and forget what the other experience was like.

We literally invented words because we are greedy fuarrrks and wanted to solve accounting problems.

There is no authentic self. The flesh self and the net self are both contingent constructs. They are laid to waste by time, one by biological degeneration and neuron decay and the other by entropy.
There's no dualism between net self and meat self. They are both aspects of the single self. The self has become distributed across the biological bodies and various net technologies. In the past, the self was unified whole, today its increasingly becoming a more fragile and fractal self.
