>be me
> I was deeply in love with this girl
>although I was we had we didn't have a real relationship we went a date once
>we then went our separate ways
>found a cell phone with her number on it
>going to call her
>I doubt we'd be anything more that freinds (if that), but I know I'll regret not doing it than I ever would not calling her, she means a lot to me.
has anyone on here done something like that? how did it go?

What do you mean by "I was we had we didn't have a real relationship..." and "...but I know I'll regret not doing it than I ever would not calling her, she means a lot to me."? What exactly do you mean by "not doing it"? Sorry if this question might come over as stupid but I really can't make up much out of that text :<

> Dated a girl for about a year and a half
> Probably the most helpful, positive relationship I've ever had overall
> We broke up and moved to different cities and didn't really talk for about a year
> I actively avoided conversation with her
> Felt bad I had acted like a child
I emailed her about a week ago with an update on my life and a request for information about how she was doing.
She got back to me in like 30 minutes with a nice email about her life and her current situation.
Honestly it was a little bit painful, like ripping off a band-aid to examine the scar tissue that formed underneath. I don't think it was entirely unpleasant though, if you care about someone for a long time you'll almost always care for them. Ultimately bittersweet.
I'm happy that I did my part and opened communication again. I hope that we continue to correspond semi-regularly. I'm sick of running from my past man.

I don't think losing contact with an ex is "running from your past". in my opinion that's part of moving forward so you don't just stay hung up on them

Yeah. You learn stuff from every relationship and you keep that with you, but not the person themselves. The fact is just friendships after dont work usually. Unless its something where youve been friends for awhile and try it and are like this is too weird.
Dont lie to yourself and act like getting back in contact is somehow a responsible thing to do just because you want what you had. Its gone. Dont act like your okay with being just friends either, you probably arent. Your unconsciously holding onto some hope that things will be more. Me projecting? Not really, everyone I know has had this experience at some point even myself. If she asked you out again and you would say yes you cant do the friendship thing, just think to yourself if that would be true.
Relationships arent permanent, friends lover whatever. You enjoy them while they happen, and when they are gone their gone. There is a reason they went away. If you broke up or went seperate ways there is a good reason for that, nobody just abandons emotions as strong as that and the security of a relationship unless it wasnt working.
no ones gonna listen cause I never did either but im just trying to save you time energy and hurt feelings. If you still have strong enough feelings to want to contact them after a year and it is intense emotionally to do so you cant do the friend soykaf, give it up, they are gone.

Op here your making me have doubts about doing this. I've postponed it a little
Yet Another Lainon · 2017-10-24 03:11
I'm pretty much in the same boat, I just don't have any romantic attachment, I just liked her as a friend. >>3080 I suspect that you are ultimately right, though it pains me to acknowledge that. I'm holding on to the small hope that we will someday be re-united by hapenstance. Though as time advances, the likelyhood of that ever decreases. Still, whenever I'm in a densely populated place, I keep an eye out for whatever reason. I wonder how long it will be before I can just move on.
