Whispers
Trinity · 2017-09-06 00:53
I can't watch television. I can't play video games. I can't listen to music with vocals.
I haven't done any of these things in ten months.
It's not like hearing voices. It's like a filter that's somehow been put over my hearing, causing me to hear every "s" sound as a "SSSS," every "t" sound as a "tuh," every "c" sound as a "chuh," etc. all seemingly coming from outside my ears. They're never words, just sounds. "Sss, sss, sss, chh, tuh" et-cetera under EVERY SINGLE VOICE I hear. The voices of my college profs, music with vocals, television shows... even the voice synthesis on smartphones. Even MY voice. If I hear someone call me from another room, and their voice is echo-y, the whispers will also be echo-y. If I hear someone over the phone, the whispers are distorted the same way. It's gotten to the point that, sometimes, I can't hear other people above the whispers when they talk softly.
I've barely been able to get by having conversations with others, too. I've found myself instinctively speaking in a higher-pitch to avoid hearing them when I talk, and I've been doing it for so long it's just the way I talk now, because deeper voices = deeper whispers (like how clearer voices = clearer whispers). Sometimes when I'm THINKING I shy away from the thought if it involves any of the sounds that'd make me hear a whisper if spoken aloud. I've found myself sabotaging conversations just to end them as quickly as possible because I cannot bare continuing any other way. Most of the time, I stay absolutely silent, unable to bring myself to talk.
Classes at my college started recently, and every day I have to sit through another lecture while bombarded with these voices, unable to hear, unable to focus, I lose my grip a little bit more. One of my college profs uploaded a set of video lectures, but I can't bring myself to watch them. The whispers are just too distracting, too annoying. My favorite band has been releasing new songs, but I can't enjoy music anymore without being slowly driven to insanity.
All of this going on without fail, non-stop, for ten months. It's tiring. I haven't heard the sound of the letter "S" being pronounced without being accompanied by a sharp "ssssssssss" in ten months. There is music I want to listen to, movies I want to watch, people I want to talk to... but I can't.
I don't know what I'm going to do. It's torture. I've tried looking this up online, have never been able to find anything. If this doesn't stop, my only options are to either deafen myself or become an hero. Lately, I've been sitting in bed all day, unable to bring myself to do anything. Every passing day pulls me further and further into that hole. I'm going to give up soon. Nothing is worth doing anymore, I can't even enjoy music.
Has anybody else even heard of this? Has it happened to you? What do I do?
Cutter · 2017-09-06 09:11

Have you talked to a doctor? I'd consider this before doing anything drastic. It sounds very weird, but maybe a specialist knows what's up.

>hear whispers that make you unable to focus on anything for almost a year
>go to a chan and ask what you should do
Go se a doctor, where do people like you come from?

do not listen to these f4gs OP
They want you locked down and braindead
Chugging those pills will make you go braindead
Don't listen to them
Do not trust "psychologists"
They are just occult human controllers that became popular after current political system emerged and needed to control vast amounts of people at single time
Break the system OP
Nguoi La · 2017-09-06 14:35
There's a chance it isn't related to mental problems but physical.
Go to a doctor who treats ears primarily. Don't mention any psychological problems or anything similiar and it'll be fine.

OP, do you see?
Their replies are automatized and void of any human touch or reason.
Do not listen to them.
They will just say what you expect them to say.

This is true to a very large extent, but it is foolish to assume that the entire field is compromised. I hate shrinks, I despise most medications but honestly I'd estimate maybe 5-10% of the people taking this stuff legitimately need it. The real issue at hand is over-prescribing, rampant corporation and piss-poor psychoanalysis leading to the other 90-95% being unable to properly affect any internal change.
Medication should only be considered as a last-resort option when all other routes have failed, and even then should ideally be used as a catalyst as opposed to a cover-up. For example, I've been having some real trouble finding the motivation I need to tackle the mountain of tasks ahead of me so I am considering going to a shrink and bullsoykafting my way into some amphetamines, just for a few months while I reprogram my habits etc. I know this is pretty different from 'psychosis' but, really, the underlying theme does apply.

The whole "field" has been brought up by politics for purpose of human control, nothing else.
This "science" isn't a science at all.
It has it's roots in "oh I believe it is imbalance of chemicals in brain" and hypothesis upon hypothesis without proper theory or testing.
These people aren't neuroscientists or neurochemists, they don't look at chemistry of brain or fMRI scans, they simply think they can see what is wrong in the black box that is brain by poking around with it's input/output.
Even your own problem can be fixed with things like self applied cognitive behavioral therapy (sort of soykaf that was common knowledge before these occultist "psychologists" started taking it as their own "invention")
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioral_therapy
Not to mention that your "trouble of finding the motivation to do your tasks" is part of problem of this system we were brought up into.
We weren't designed through millions of years of evolution to live like this, and they know that. So they want to shape our behavior using few of those easily controllable instincts and emotional triggers that we are all familiar with, seen easily on TV or advertisement or politics.
Miho Iwakura · 2017-09-08 13:09
Sounds like OP has a hearing problem, I dunno why everybody's whining about shrinks. Really though, hearing loss can cause lots of mental problems. For example, a lot of dementia is caused by it because can't hear->can't communicate->don't exercise brain->become retarded.
Go see a doctor OP. Maybe you have an ear infection or something.

When it first started, I was unable to see a doctor due to the situation I was living in (Moved back in with my crazy-ass anti-medical parents after I had this whole episode thinking my landlords were spying on me and trying to suffocate me with bleach). And, on top of that, I was convinced it was some sort of CIA torture method and I was part of some sort of MK-ULTRA-like experiment to create physically and mentally superior humans to be conscripted into intelligence work (yes, I know how batsoykaf fuarrrking ridiculous this sounds in hindsight, but I really believed it at the time) and that they were trying to push me to my breaking point to study how I'd react (and test whether or not I was worthy). tl;dr, it started in the middle of an actual schizophrenic episode, making everything 200% worse. Started the day I went back to my apartment, saw the whole place had been ransacked, in my mind that was tangible proof my whole "CIA landlords" thing was true. Second thought, people probably noticed my empty, unlocked apartment and I just got robbed.

Thank you, Lains. I've been afraid to open up about this since it started (for various reasons). This is the first place I've talked publicly about it. I'm going to make an appointment today.

Since you mentioned a previous schizophrenic episode, it may actually be worthwhile to see a shrink if a normal medical professional can't help.
Unmedicated schizophrenia, while not a big deal for everyone, can definitely cause long-term problems if you aren't careful.
Also avoid any psychodelics/dissociatives/deliriants/etc like the plague.

This happened to me and it turned out that my eustachian tubes were blocked. I took some OTC allergy meds that my doctor recommended and then went and sat in a hot sauna until it cleared up.

That is psychology, "poking" at the brain and seeing it's output's and inputs is science. The scientific study of the human brain.
All of you in this thread deterring OP from seeking the opinion of a doctor or shrink are doing him a large miss favor.
OP, go see a doctor.

Scientific method is science. Jumping to conclusions and throwing hypothesis out of thin air on mental illness or human behaviour traits isn't.

>Second thought, people probably noticed my empty, unlocked apartment and I just got robbed.
I realize now that most of what really magnified my delusions in the first place was my narcissistic, abusive mother gaslighting me and using my mental illness (the whole schizophrenic episode, I've realized, was triggered by a break-up with an abusive, narcissistic partner (the fact that they were abusive also recently occurred to me) less than a week prior) as a means-to-an-end to complete her goal of getting me off of medications by gaslighting the soykaf out of me.
Why would whoever "robbed" me take all my medications, my vapes, my weed stuff, but not my fuarrrking television, bass guitar and amp, or game console? And there are numerous, plentiful other hints that are occurring AS I'M WRITING THIS making me realize it was very obviously her and my stepdad manipulating, deceiving, and gaslighting the everloving soykaf out of me when I was vulnerable.
I'm also beginning to realize why I felt the way I did as a child, remembering a lot of really traumatic soykaf that happened. I'm also realizing how abusive two very major people in my life have been... But, for the first time in my life, I feel genuinely hopeful. Because I've finally pulled my head above water and really know what's going on with myself. Even though I'm still fuarrrking having these annoying-ass hearing problems, still waiting to see a neuro to get back on my medications and be able to drive again (they threw away all my medications when I moved back in with them, which caused me to have a seizure and lose my license, because I abruptly stopped taking a benzo), this is the most content I've ever felt.
Thanks to everyone who suggested I see a doctor about the hearing issues, especially >>2570 for suggesting something specific it might be. Still waiting to see an ear doctor about that. Making that jump and scheduling the appointment really helped me come back to reality and begin to accept all the negative things that have happened to me in the past.

"don't trust psychologists"
I think you meant psychiatrists. As a psychologist I can say the last thing I want to do is to control people. I want them to wake up and realize themselves. A lot of psychologists are like me. It's the vocal minority that makes us look bad.

A practicle solution could be to use a "DeEsser". It's used in music prodeuction to remove sybilance (sounds like s, t etc). I'm not sure how but you could find a way to route your computers audio through one and it might help. Usually it's used quite subty but you could turn the settings up or stack multiples so that it completely cuts out these sounds.

I think people are unable to wake themselves up alone, thus the famous "I can show you the door but you have to walk through it."
I don't think I'm smarter, I just think I can offer a unique insight into other people's problems, the same way my friends or a therapist can offer unique insights into my problems and help me realize things.

I'm sorry but the arguments the guy makes are half-assed at best and they're conspiracy theorist-tier.
It's true that behaviorists were cunts and did horrible things. The only thing he could say abou Freud and Jung were "hurr durr they were nazis." Political views have nothing to with their profession.
The guy somehow forgot to mention humanistic psychology, hypnotherapy, gestalt psychology, cognitive psychology or anything really. If he wants to rant about behaviorists, he can be my guest, I dislike them almost as much as I dislike cognitive psychologists, but don't say the whole field is rotten to its' core. The post is a prime example of : "all rightists are nazis" or "all leftists are commies" Just because there are extremists in the field it doesn't mean the whole field is extremistic.
Also,
>CIA, muh jews, Rockefeller
Can you tell me one thing they haven't got their money in? It's not that they targeted psychology, it's just that psychology emerged and they want to control everything. Every single science field is filled with their money and agents.

my take. If you are in some state of mind, you see reality in some way. And to go outta this perception you need someone else to rope you out or do it yourself(way harder because it's like using a system to describe itself from different point of view that the system has)
