Do you enjoy being apart of society at large? What are chances of someone being able to survive by themselves?
Terzibashjian · 2017-07-09 20:32
Survive where? How? Lots of recluses go years without really interacting with anyone but their food and other needs still come from the system.
If you mean going unabomber, no. Even he took odd jobs and bought some food. Solo hunter garherers NEVER existed, anthropologists suggest the ideal tribe is around 30 people. Tribes that were around recently enough to be on record occasionally exiled people because they didn't have a justice system as we know one. This was considered a death sentence.

oh and I forgot to say, hunter gatherers survived in a wilderness that was relatively plentiful. Natural paradises like like don't exist on Earth anymore. You can't be alone and hunt in a national park, you'd end up in jail (or an asylum)

How do people go off the grid then or go missing? Is there any way to earn your keep while staying away from most of society?
Drifter · 2017-07-10 11:50
I dont enjoy being alone, but icant be among normal people either.
I am somewhat interested in nature and i can tell you the chances of surviving in the wilderness are very low, especially nowdays.

You can earn your keep while staying away from society if you can do some work online and have your groceries and stuff delivered.
Everyone who says "off grid" means something different by it. It's not like there's some rabbit hole or looking glass you can disappear into now that every square milimeter of the planet is visible from space.

Being a part of society is one of the most hellos experiences that I have ever known. From a social aspect, I am on the very fringes, which grants me some solace, yet, I cannot truly be at peace until I escape it fully. I would rather freeze to death in Alaska than continue living amongst others. I'll escape someday. One of these days. I have to.

You don't need to move all the way towards a geographically remote area. Our rooms (i.e. NEET caverns) can be solace from the daily misery provided by meatspace. Although you'll need financial support and resources for survival. I personally love to distance myself from the outside world, isolation brings comfort. I've learned various methods that work for me to avoid loneliness or the desire for physical interaction. The chances of living like this are alright as long as you have some sort of income which is probably the difficult aspect to overcome.
Debbie Charteris · 2017-07-12 00:53
Not all of us can NEET it up forever. I'm only 18 and my mother is already going ballistic about my lack of a job. I only wish to live like a plant, in peace. Is that so much to ask?

Same here. The more I develop my interest and strengthen myself, the further I grow distance from my immediate contacts in real life. There's some parts of me that wishes to escape to Iceland or Alaska, live minimally, and stay that way. But I have siblings and I'm concerned for them, and I feel the need to stay and be present for them.

That is like kicking dead whales down the beach. I only have a sister and a mother, and I have full faith in my sister's capability to do whatever she wants. She's almost as old as me, anyways. I would of course offer her and my mother a place with me, but I doubt they would come. Perhaps once I was able to get a nice thing going, they might.

that k in d a s u ck s is what I meant to say. I guess that's a new word filter here, I haven't been on this site in some time.

Yes
When I had an internship going on the train to work downtown and heading to the office made me feel like a real adult and was comfy in a way. Made money too.
Its weird, I've only ever been an outsider but working at a professional job made me feel so normal person...
Also the best isn't being an outsider or an insider of society the best is to switch between them at different points in your life as needed. Go from salaryman to NEET to cat dude who works from home and never leaves his house back to salaryman

yes.
>Hyakujo, the Chinese Zen master, used to labor with his pupils even at the age of eighty, trimming the gardens, cleaning the grounds, and pruning the trees.
>The pupils felt sorry to see the old teacher working so hard, but they knew he would not listen to their advice to stop, so they hid away his tools.
>That day the master did not eat. The next day he did not eat, nor the next. "He may be angry because we have hidden his tools," the pupils surmised. "We had better put them back."
>The day they did, the teacher worked and ate the same as before. In the evening he instructed them: "No work, no food."

This is good. This is why some people take a sabbatical. Not a vacation to play and relax but a whole year to focus on other things.

>When i was young, i was stupid. when i was a teenager i was a glitterboy, when i was a student i was just a dick. I can't take responsibility for something i wasn't, and i am only at this precise moment
>People live through few phases in their life. Conformity, nonconformity, and when they grow up, nononconformity, which isn't one nor the other
>To all these glitterboys who think they are special, especially the kind of idiot who protects his telephone number so "normal people" won't call. In life you have to be like a tree, A fuarrrkING TREE, If you think you are some speszial kurwa unique snowlflake, belive in tech-sociallism, paedophilles having rights or some other soykaf. Please understand, you can't function in society like this, but you can't NOT function in the society. I mean, even if you go to discount-store, you have to pay for bread and soykaf, not blaber about babylon. So brush your teeth, have normal hair, wear fuarrrking normal clothes and say good-morning. Sometimes you'll have to socialise, but that's the only way. After you go back home you can dress up as schoolbag or use your dick to paint walls. Be like a tree, after the wind blows, go back to normal position. Don't try to be a smartie. I mean, if you are the only intelligent being on earth, no one will understand your "jokes" and soykaf. You'll be just a moron for them.
>If yer fat, don't be. Or at least don't put your shirt into pants, fuarrrking hell. Remember about the tie, or else you'll look like some stupid I.T. guy.
>fuarrrk intelligent babes, fuarrrk the fact that you "won't associate with beautiful ones because they are stupid"-thing. It's supposed to be gf/wife, not fuarrrking discussion-partner. Do you seriously imagine, that you two will sit on the roof, look into stars and talk about truth? I'll be honest fuarrrkface, if you ever get to the roof, she'll look into stars, and you'll want to screw her. If you are such a smartie, buy yourself a blow-up Ayn Rand doll kurva.
>If we're talking about philosophy, (fuarrrk dunno, something like: you have do soykaf), It's great cause you'll have to do soykafload of stuff you don't want to do, even without soykaf like religion or work.
>If you have low self-esteem, remember that all people have families, "sweeties" and plans for Chrismas. They are weak.

This is stupid. You can function, very successfully I might add, in society without being a bland everyman.
Pulse · 2017-07-12 18:53

It's not about being everyman tho, anon who wrote that shows off polish mentality aka being no one, not showing what you do, being as bland as possible, hatred of others and so on. Also this is only half of the truth.
I dont agree, but i see where he's coming from, poles were like this.
(Also this is a product of polish chins, maybe only finns amd russians have atmosphere that specific at their imagebpards)

Yes I enjoy it very much, however I don't fit in and have always been strange probably because of my upbringing. I also enjoy criticizing society a lot, but largely I like it and I wish I was more accepted to be perfectly honest.
