/hum/ and /feels/

Soooo is this /feels/ 2.0? Sticky makes it sound like a more "defined" version of what used to be /feels/. I guess this thread can be for general discussion on how this might be different/similar to /feels/. (personally i'd like to see less moping and maybe keep all the "general" melancholy in one thread??)

I've never really been a /feels/poster, but I enjoyed lurking here for one reason: support. I mean, don't get me wrong, most people on /feels/ are using it primarily as a place to talk about (and on better days, confront) what it is that's ailing them. But I think the attraction for many is that this is a comfortable space for them to do so. It's a neutral environment that allows people to be vulnerable, under the guise of anonymity. Sometimes people would hear them, respond, offer comforts and advice; sometimes it's just nice to yell into the void. So that kind of ethos - a place for people to experience the world as they experience it, a neutral space that veers towards compassion - is what I liked about /feels/, and how I think we should be going forward. Obviously, this place isn't feels, but I think it's important to temper expectations as to what people might wish to post about, while also contributing to meaningful content and discussion. I foresee lots of wonderful and meaningful content coming from this board, but I also expect some /feels/, y'know? I think moderation is definitely important to make sure that posters here are safe, and that brewing soykaf - whatever that looks like here - is minimized, but otherwise, I think that this board is similarly vast as the spectra of experiences it wants to capture. As such, I'm reminded of a few quotes: "We're all just doing time." (Take that as you wish.) "Find the others." (see comic. Also, Mr. Roger's "Look for the helpers." "Welcome to this world - have as much fun as you would like, while helping others have as much fun as you're having. Be kind to those you love, and be kind to those you don't, but for godssakes, you've gotta be kind. And respectful, because we're all one soul. Be the best fuarrrking human that you can be." (AJJ - Personal Space Invader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I18eoTqx8xY ) Anyway, godspeed, lainons. Thank you for translating reality the way you do. Don't forget to drink plenty of water. >>2 Does anyone else wish they were more machine-like so they could achieve more and not be limited by their human wants and needs? Sometimes I wish I didn't have feelings. I waste so much time thinking about & deeply longing for female contact, it really is like kicking dead whales down the beach. Often when I go to do something productive I end up looking at pictures of girls instead. Other human limitations include procrastination and anxiety. Part of me wishes I could just "disable" my humanity and become a productive machine that absorbs information and knowledge and churns out high quality code at a high rate, one that doesn't get bored or tired or fed up or distracted. A mind free from biological drawbacks.

>>4 Somehow, I just know the guy in that picture is thinking, "fuarrrker stole my hat."

>>12 I don't see the desire for knowledge as being somehow neutral or independent of biology. It is still a human desire. Humans are the only species (I think) with an urge to move and settle in new locations when there aren't any imminent population pressures or environmental problems like drought or lack of food. That's why we spread to every conceivable living environment on the globe. This curiosity is uniquely human. Perhaps you long to shut off only some of your human urges at will.

>>12 >looking at pictures of girls instead i know this feel. I just want another half who makes me a better person and pushes me but i can take care of. I used to kind of have that and I havent found that same spark with anybody else. I used to make hella good bizarre ass art and now I just draw pictures of cute girls and soykaf cause im lonely af.

>>24 Are you me from a parallel universe where I never met my fiancee?
XERXES · 2017-04-28 23:48
>>25 >my fiancee Are you trying to make the rest of us cry?
Ein · 2017-04-29 00:00
>>26 That depends, is it working? On a more serious note, we met online, so there is hope.
Unnamed · 2017-04-29 00:09
>>27 >is it working? Y-yes :'( >there is hope Not for me because statistics. I haven't actually done the math yet though.
Chani · 2017-04-29 03:06
>>25 probs. but im still just a young college boy so theres hope. i'm just locked in this mental state right now where theres no one as good as my ex. im also pretty quiet and submissive which apparently lots of girls aren't a fan of. Just need to find the few who are.
Nameless · 2017-04-29 05:08
>>32 Wow, you actually sound like me right before I met her. My advice is to try to talk to more people, especially women, not necessarily in a romantic way. Just try to learn how to keep a conversation going (carrying it if you have to), and remember that if you're anything like young me, people probably like you more than you think they do and screwing up won't be as bad as not trying.
Tyrell Wellick · 2017-04-29 05:50
>>42 no yeah I actually like having girl friends. thats how my last relationship started we just were really good friends. thats one of the reasons i cant really meet someone online or through a hookup or whatever, i dont like having that intention at the start. but it also means i meet a lot less people. idk though the conversation thing is weird for me. I prefer silence to small talk, and I tend to assume that when small talk starts happening me and the person just dont match well. this is pretty unfortunate I guess cause im a guy but i dont like being the leader in a relationship. I like to be lead. I dont think I can change that its part of who I am. and i think id rather be alone than not have that cause thats what i need in a relationship. When im with someone who really knows what they want in life and are super forceful (maybe even a bit violent) I feel good and feel safe and want to stay with them.

>>43 >thats one of the reasons i cant really meet someone online You can't have close online friends? I think a lot of the people with whom I'm closest, I originally met online. I had kind of assumed a lot of lains only made friends via the wired.
Turner · 2017-04-29 13:17
>>44 I suppose I could. I have had very close online friends. Ive never met anyone I met online in real life though. again im also at college, I dont really have as much invested in online communication because theres so many people around me to talk to. if im being perfectly blunt too i like kind of tough and wild black and southeast asian girls. thats just my type. I dont know how many of those id find online or where to find them online. If I was with a white girl I know id end up being abusive and I dont want to hurt anyone. Id much rather and am willing to be abused than other way around.
Molly Millions · 2017-04-29 14:39
>>47 >black and southeast asian girls You would have loved my college it was full of black girls and asians from Vietnam, Malaysia and such. It was bad for me though since my preference when it comes to Asian girls is super-feminine Japanese or South Korean girls.
Donna Hawthorne · 2017-04-29 22:21
>>48 thats funny cause all the students at my school are super feminine chinese girls.
