anyone got any tips on how to consume alcohol daily for anxiety? I know this is very retarded but I think it will help in the long run. like how could I hide my breath? do you even have alcohol breath if you gulp down like 150-200 ml of 40% ABV vodka? also any way I can keep tolerance low and use some drugs that interact with booze to make it more potent so I have to drink less? I've heard phenibut would interact with alcohol. btw I plan to stick to 150-200 ml per day (without any additional drugs) until tolerance raises so I don't actually want to like abuse alcohol if that makes any sense.

first of all, invest into a good hipflask. Don't buy cheap, get a good one from stainless steel, with a good rubber seal in the cap, and the cap thread should be nice and well made. around here, decent ones start at about 25$, so don't frisk on the cash. Hip flasks are convenient, easy to conceal, and even if someone sees you, it looks intimidating and very stylish, if you have the proper getup and looks.
second, pick your poison. Some use vodka, others like scotch, i prefer straight irish whiskey, sometimes i mix a tiny bit apple juice into it (about 2 part juice to 8 parts whiskey), just for the taste. You can pick whichever you want, just make sure you like it. You can even use very high proof stuff (>50% vol.), but those concentrations are better suited for mixing into your coffee, which provides the additional effect of lessening the numbing effect of the alcohol. Just make sure to watch your consumption, to not overdo it.
Masking the smell is a matter of taste: Some people chew mint gum, others smoke, or use mouthwash. Because i need to carry a bag with me for work, i can always carry a bottle of water and a tube of toothpaste. drink the portion, go to the bathroom, take a small bite of toothpaste, swig of water, swirl it all around in your mouth, and wash it all out with more water. Easy.
As for tolerance, just take a break on wednesdays and weekends, or any other 3 day period. It keeps the tolerance in check.

Go to the alcohol thread and read my posts, I've been using alcohol to deal with anxiety for years and its awful, this is a terrible idea and it can quite easily ruin your life.
What you're talking about absolutely is abuse by the way, and it will degrade to very difficult to manage abuse quite quickly, especially when the negative psychological effects of routine drinking set it

isn't it abuse when you're doing it for entertainment? like people say abusing painkillers when they mean someone is taking them to get high not to relieve pain. I'm just trying to function

You are planning on regulalry using a psychoactive substance to treat a condition it makes worse in the long term and ignoring a laundry list of potential negative effects and complications to make it seem like a better idea to yourself.
Alcohol is a depressant and an anaesthetic, it does not treat the causes of anxiety, it only crudely addresses the symptoms by numbing your brain and it doesn't even do it particulalrly well, the effect is massively variable depending on mood, and its very easy to misdose. It also brings a lot of things in that make anxiety worse over time.
Eventually the stress you'll be addressing with the alcohol will be stress the alcohol caused in the first place.
Abuse simply means not using something properly and not treating of with the caution and respect it merits.
You are not using alcohol for its intended purpose as a lubricant and enjoyment drug in social situations but as a soykafty version of CBT and anti anxiety medication, that's absolutely abuse.
Also 150-200ml of vodka a day is a pretty significant amount of alcohol, and you're talking about using in combination with other drugs to enchance the effect? What age are you, have you ever drank before? 200ml of vodka will render you obviously drunk to sober people and you talk about it like its a single shot.

>how to consume alcohol daily for anxiety?
Not very recommended for health reasons. Alcohol has bad effects on the liver and other organs, even if you don't drink a lot at a time. Instead, learn breathing exercises (breath deeply and slowly). Also >>9534
>like how could I hide my breath?
Mix it with blackcurrant juice.

yeah I guess you're right but I don't have any better alternatives. when I was still underage I got caught drinking and had to go some sort of prophylactic rehab so I'm pretty sure any doctor would see I've had drinking problems and won't prescribe me benzos.

I said
>150-200 ml per day (without any additional drugs)
I don't know about you but 150-200ml per day would give me solid anxiety relief, if I would take it in like 2 hours with no tolerance I would be vomiting. I'm 18 and pretty much no tolerance

i actually am confused. 200 ml are two shots (at least by russian standards, which is about 100ml/shot) and that spread out over a day is not clearly not enough to render someone obviously drunk, not even me, and i'm a 60kg beanstalk. Are you just trying to discourage OP from drinking for therapeutic purposes, or are you simply misinformed? I can speak from experience, what can you offer? I'm genuinely interested, because i cannot fathom any other possibilities except those two.

people have been drinking for thousands of years, and alcohol was a common preservative and disinfectant used for water. It was commonly included in soldiers and sailors rations, and in the middle ages, peasant consumed ale as a regular staple drink, which improved mood, motivation and it was even pretty healthy (as opposed to modern beers and ales, which contain traces of fertilizer and pesticide). If you can, drink clean, good quality alcohol, avoid cheap brands and know your poison. I generally try to avoid beer and other "muddy" drinks, but i have a particular weakness for irish whiskey, so there's that. drink responsibly, watch your level, spread out the amount, don't raise your consumption, if you feel that you need more, take a break of a few days or a week, then resume. Alcohol is a powerful tool, but as with everything, moderation is key. slanté.

Yes, it is very retarded. No, it will not help in the long run.
I come from a family with a history of alcoholism and depression. It's killed one of my relatives so far. As it happens, I am also a moderately heavy drinker and have been undergoing treatment for comorbid anxiety and depression disorders for the past decade.
To start with, the amount of alcohol you suggest beginning with is more than double that classified as moderate to high risk drinking. Liver disease, heart failure, or stroke is already a significant concern at this point not to mention the consequences for your anxiety or clarity of thought. Increasing it any further never mind adding other substances into the mix is patently insane.
Do yourself a favour and go talk to a doctor before making any assumptions about your treatment. You won't be committed to anything. You're an adult (barely), ultimately you get to make the choices about your treatment.
>>9537
100ml is a double shot by Russian glass sizes. A "standard drink" varies between countries, but if we go by the US definition OP is suggesting three and a half to four and a half drinks every single day on the low end.

There is of course some variation, but the amounts we're talking about correspond with a roughly 60% increased risk for most cardiovascular diseases, or about a 5 year drop in life expectancy. As always with statistics, the same information seems more or less scary depending on how you frame it.
Here's another frame to put it in: CBT bears zero risk. It's infinitely less dangerous and as effective as anything else.
>>9537
>in the middle ages, peasant consumed ale as a regular staple drink
It's probably worth mentioning that beer back then had about half the ABV that it does now.

>It's infinitely less dangerous and as effective as anything else
this is really depressing to read considering I could try this but it's hard for me to trust anyone or talk about my feelings with a therapist. I wonder if there's any point in even living if I'm not interested in changing things.
Nobody special · 2021-11-18 18:10
>>9544
I get that. I've been skipping out on most of my exposure exercises for weeks and despite everything I've written so far keep drinking myself. It's not easy.
This is why I say you're not committed to anything. The worst thing you can do is overthink it. Start small; make an appointment or even just look up the phone number or maybe just go see what the building looks like in person. Anything that gets you a little bit closer. And if you find at any point that it's not for you or it's not working, you can turn around walk out and be none the worse for it.
Agent Smith · 2021-11-18 18:27
I used to treat my anxiety attacks with alcohol and its not an efficient way to do it, what you need are anxiolytics like xanax. Its much much more effective, less expensive and infinitely healthier unless youre going to mix it with alcohol in which case you should just keep doing what youre doing.

Yes, people with anxiety disorders often need to have at least "some" on hand for their entire life. I would like to add that if you have "normal" anxiety, CBT is preferable, and that in my case i have intense uncontrollable all-consuming anxiety which requires some kind of chemical to maintain sanity.

why would it get worse? as far as I can afford the drugs it should be okay. from what I've read you can't even get a tolerance for xanax's anti-anxiety effect, only the sedative effect.
Agent Richard Gill · 2021-11-18 19:25
>>9555
Substance abuse is a downward spiral, regardless of whether you can afford the substance or not. The problems you already have are likely to worsen, or at best stay the same, and the substance abuse will certainly create new problems on top of the ones you already have, leading to more anxiety which will require more substance abuse. Do not take benzos if you do not have an anxiety disorder. There is no pot of gold at the end of that rainbow, only misery.
Dox · 2021-11-18 19:36

I have a self diagnosed anxiety disorder which isn't severe but is making my life soykaf. so far you've just said drugs r bad but not exactly why. I'm not looking to get a high from xanax.

You should talk to a doctor, im not qualified to tell you what you do or do not need. But if you're only looking for escapism or to numb the pain then substance abuse is a bad idea. If the anxiety itself is the problem than it should be treated with adequate medication and therapy, and not with alcohol.

Having gone down the alcie route for depression and anxiety myself for some time i cant recommend it.
You might feel good for a while, but it will eat you up from the inside, it also causes mad addiction.
Even smoking weed all day every day is a better solution, which is no longterm solution at all, i can tell that from experience too.
Alcohol and tobacco are some of the worst drugs ever, honestly i know life is pretty soykaf most of the time and its tempting, heck i dont miss a chance when i get to myself, but its not worth it in the end.
Ive no real firsthand experience, but just microdosing on shrooms might be a much better idea, not mention proper diet and exercise and all that soykaf.
