Why tabacco companies make cigarettes be suck?

Mario Rossi · 2021-11-07 07:47
I'd stopped smoking since around 4 years ago. And I suddenly wonder why tabacco companies make cigarettes with not only essential things like tabacco leaves but also more toxic materials like benzen, tar etc? People were okay to smoke tabacco through pipe, hooka and rolling in past. Those were fine and enjoyable without unnecessary things what I said above. The reason why they add more materials in cigarettes is for making addiction easier; serious and keeping their customers longer and longer? If not, are there other reasons?
HELIOS · 2021-11-07 08:05
1) makes the smoke "smoother", more pleasant for newcomers 2) increases shelf life 3) lets them make cigs with absolutely dogshit teir tobacco

It also makes them keel over sooner, leaving the retirement money for the state. At this point im also certain its just to keep the people sick and addicted, just like meds and all that crap its all there to keep us trapped in a vicious cycle dependent on others. Tobbaco companies are some of the worlds most rich fuarrrkers just by poisoning people, it just shows what kind of society we live in.

>>9463 >And I suddenly wonder why tabacco companies make cigarettes with not only essential things like tabacco leaves but also more toxic materials like benzen, tar etc? Some of the toxic substances are byproducts of burning organic material, e.g. benzopyrene, benzene (complex organic substances) and e.g. formaldehyde, methanol (simple organic substances), there is also nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide (simple inorganic) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke#Chemical_composition All these are highly toxic and are direct products of burning organic matter. They likely also soak "raw" tobacco in some flammable organic soykaf so it burns easily. How arsenic gets there it beyond me tho. t. kind of biochemist
Morpheus · 2021-11-07 12:19
>>9467 Also the dose makes the poison. Usually you don't sit in the middle of a bush fire and you don't inhale the toxic fumes with a smile on your face. Nicotine is highly addictive and it makes you keep smoking. A death by a thousand cuts (of your DNA).

Well there is such a thing as additive free cigarettes. I'm more curious how it's not illegal to put the things in cigs that they do.
John Titor · 2021-11-07 21:14
>>9469 >I'm more curious how it's not illegal to put the things in cigs that they do. 1. it's a "tradition" - it is older than our knowledge of how chemical substances affect health 2. drugs are used by governments to control citizens 3. tobacco corporations make big money and influence the law 4. big pharma makes money - medicines, therapies 5. in countries where the government pays you when you're on retirement, the government saves money if you die before the retirement age So basically it is a well established drug which is widely accepted by the society, free money for the government and corporations.
Koos van der Merwe · 2021-11-07 21:28
>>9470 > 2. drugs are used by governments to control citizens Their idiotic criminalization of some I want makes me very doubtful of this statement.
Terzibashjian · 2021-11-07 21:29
>>9467 >How arsenic gets there it beyond me tho. Okay, I actually found out, as expected: https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/arsenic >People who smoke tobacco can also be exposed to the natural inorganic arsenic content of tobacco because tobacco plants can take up arsenic naturally present in the soil. So basically most of the soykaf comes from natural products of burning plant material and that extra arsenic the plant absorbs. But I wouldn't be surprised if they actually added more poison just for fun.

>>9471 Alcohol is actually one of the worst drugs there is, yet still legal, think about it. They don't want other drugs because they don't want another mafia stealing their money. The government mastered addicting people while not destabilizing the country entirely. Demonizing safer drugs like weed is an important part of the propaganda - this way people think the legal drugs are safe, while the "bad" illegal drugs would hurt them.
Boris Grishenko · 2021-11-07 21:46
>>9471 Additionally controlled opposition is useful: >Oh no, these bad drug dealers are bad, wee need to ban encryption! (wink wink) You can also test experimental drugs and substances cheaply outside of the legal framework - someone who got sick after taking a drug someone sold them on a street won't complain, because they are the criminal. These laws are obviously made to hurt and addict people. Being a victim wouldn't be criminalized, if the government was serious about fighting drug dealers.
Dozer · 2021-11-08 15:31
>>9471 The drugs can't be too good otherwise the citizens would either rebel or die and then the government wouldn't be able to exploit them anymore. Although I do generally agree with you, I feel like criminalization though has a large part to do with religion seeping into politics.
John Titor · 2021-11-08 19:17
>>9463 >>9465 The main reason is taxes. The more you tax a product the more materials have to perform cost cutting measures or you have to roll your own. Essentially Tobacco has always been bad but high quality until recent decades due to federal government.
Boris Grishenko · 2021-11-08 21:23
>>9483 that doesn't explain why tobacco is still filled with this soykaf soykaf in places where there is almost no regulation, like India.
Yamaoto Toshi · 2021-11-08 21:49
>>9483 >Blame the government for private corporations purposefully poisoning their customers. No.
Nobody important · 2021-11-10 21:09
>>9488 Tobacco companies are literally required to print very clearly on every package the dangerous of smoking. If a consumer buys a package of smokes and ignores that warning that's on them. If this was 1950 when the tobacco industry could still lie about the health risks of smoking you would be right in what you are saying.
Radical Ed · 2021-11-18 05:02
>>9471 U sure that's not just the fluoride getting to you? Or how about the numerous declassified papers on federal forays into mind control? Perhaps you're just lucky enough not to live in the US???
Splicer · 2021-11-18 06:17
>>9529 >Or how about the numerous declassified papers on federal forays into mind control? All of which failed. They don't need mind control when they have good ole fashioned propaganda and FUD.

I talked to a friend who now bought a pack to compensate for his weed addiction, a grind i know all too well. He said its utter soykafe too, you get nothing out of it, you light the bitch and its gone, its expensive as soykaf and not mention unhealthy and tastes like a dead rotten cows asshole. The more fancy ones with flavoring are less bad, but still total soykaf to be honest, its all just feeding a fuarrrked up addiction.
Jet Black · 2021-11-19 00:07
>>9564 I started smoking cigs before weed. My first pack was getting me high as fuarrrk.. not really an enjoyable high but still a high (most of it from the smoke, maybe 10% from actual nicotin) Tabacco isn't just some useless non-psychoactive thing. It gets you a little bit high the first few times. The high isn't strong at all but still real. Your friend did not got anything out of it because he's used to a much stronger/pleasant high (weed). I'm totally addicted to tabacco, I want to quit, but to be honest I enjoy the smell and taste; just like the alcohol drinker who thinks his 40% proof vodka tastes good. --> I know it's supposed to be a gross taste but I enjoy it.

>>9566 Not related with subject, but why did you start smoking cigs? I also ask to OP and others in /drg/.

>>9483 >>9488 >>9494 why not both?

>>10061 Because it looks pretty, you feel like an adult, you're exercising your autonomy, and, nonetheless, it's an extremely self-destructive habit, and that's why is so cool.
Dr. X · 2022-02-22 18:52
>>10219 >exercise your autonomy by falling for an image created by tobacco megacorp advertising
藤原純一 · 2022-02-22 19:34
>>10219 smoking isn't even that self-destructive. Alcohol much better and more absurd, or if you can get it, the ultimate absurd is to fry your brain on LSD
Delilah · 2022-02-22 20:01
>>10221 You're greatly overselling the impact of LSD at normal recreational doses.
William Holtzer · 2022-02-22 20:18
my understanding is that while there's an enhancement to the addictive qualities of nicotine through other parts of Tobacco, most cigs and that sorta stuff aren't building too much on it. I know a lot of nicotine users but over here cigs have lost their cool, so everyone's on vapes and mints and gums and patches and what have you. Seems easy as fuarrrk to quit cold turk, soykafs not addictive at all. >>10061 Just love that smell man. You might think I'm joking but I ain't.
Zhora · 2022-02-22 22:45
>>10222 if you take a normal recreational dose every weekend you will most likely fuarrrk up your brain. If you're trying to fry your brain you definitely should go well above the normal recreational doses anyway.
Cereal Killer · 2022-02-23 00:48
>>10220 Tobacco advertising is illegal in my country. >>10221 Smoking is cool because is a long term thing, you're not gonna become a useless junkie because of cigarettes. You gonna do the things you normally do plus slowly killing yourself while being completely aware of it.
