Rooms Strains

What's your favorite strain? Which ones have you tried? What's your favorite strain to grow? Share your experiences with different rooms strains.

Penis Envy is fun to grow because it lives up to the namesake, also piss easy I had cyans once and they were quite nice. Very strong.

>>8591 never had shrooms and the idea of different strains of them kinda surprises me. i kinda thought they were just one homogenous thing. how different from eachother and the diff strains? is it just a difference of potency or do the actual trips differ?

>>8594 Not OP and no expert but there are hundreds of psilocybin mushroom varities iirc. However unless I am mistaken some species aren't suitable for consumption because they also contain poisonous substances. I don't recall hearing about trips differing conclusively but I have heard some species cause more or less digestive side effects and of course their taste will differ. Though of course there is other psychoactive mushrooms than psilocybin mushrooms such as the fly agaric and panther cap mushrooms which is something else. I'm not sure if there is any other kind of hallucinogenic mushroom. I once came across some YouTube video where some guy in the woods claimed mushrooms were talking to him and they weren't supposed to be hallucinogenic. Never managed to find the video again though. There are medicinal and nootropic effects of certain mushrooms such as reishi and lion's mane.

>>8591 I personally enjoy golden teacher, Amanita muscaria, and Mckennais since they are easy to digest and tend to have a stronger effect upon visuals and headspace. Burmas can mainly take you into a mind space; and Amazonians are right in the middle. That being said, there is always the stronger ones like psilocybe azcurecens and wavy cap but those I would recommend caution for as their heavy concentration can border on delirium at times if taken lightly or unexperienced. I personally also recommend wines and concoctions made with shrooms (and particularly a. muscaria). If you extract the psilocybin into crystals there is honestly a lot of fun ways to use it.

>>8732 note to this: A. muscaria contains muscimol rather than psilocybin which can be visual under "unconscious" state i.e. sleeping. But more often than not it creates a mild coloration effect while awake and a strong sense of lucidity. Extracting the muscimol is different from psilocybin and can be added and combined to other drugs much easier.

I just today found out about Inocybe aeruginascens which oddly inocybe species of mushrooms muscimol but this species is one of the few inocybe to contain psilocybin but also is the only known mushroom to contain aeruginascin which is structurally similar to bufotenidine. This seems very interesting in how unusual this sounds by itself. I wonder what sort of effects it may have on people. https://psychedelicreview.com/comparing-aeruginascin-and-bufotenidine-their-similarities-and-differences/
William Holtzer · 2021-07-14 06:23
>>8743 My mistake. Apparently Pholiotina cyanopus also contains aeruginascin apparently. Supposedly mushrooms containing this compound only produce euphoria not hallucinations so perhapts it somehow counteracts the hallucinogenic effects of the psilocybin? Or is it the action of this compound by itself maybe. I suppose only way someone can find out is isolate the compound and test it.
Mitnick · 2021-07-16 03:21
>>8759 Never mind. I am finding contradictory information claiming bad trips occur more frequent with it. Can anyone confirm what these species of mushrooms with aeruginascin actually do?
Elliot Alderson · 2021-08-30 11:03
>>8732 I did once hear about Shrooms and Wine. That came from Greek Era writings about Wine that made people see spiritual awakenings. What is also interesting is there is recipes for Shroom Smoothies. I wonder how that would go for a user, if it would dilute or keep them on an even keel.

>>8761 Resident mycologist here. If you pay close attention to the molecular structure, it does not change much from the normal psilocybin compund. The only real difference is one has an extra Hydrogen molecule. I have tested it, you will still get visuals but it does have a more pronounced focus on your thoughts "spiraling" out of control if you aren't used to it. Really it was not much different to me, and most things you read online are anecdotal unless you perform an official study (which I'd love to do if my studies weren't so vehemently opposed in my corner of the earth), so take these stories cum grano salis and simply be cautious if you decide to try some.
Agent Jones · 2021-10-02 08:27
>>9225 Yes they are chemically similar. I don't think much can be concluded till someone isolates psilocybin, baeocystin, norbaeocystin, and aeruginascin among whatever other potentially psychoactive mushroom compound can be found to be tested against eachother for comparison of effect.

>>8594 First off strains and species are two different things and something that cannot be understated. Different species have different compounds with dry weight percentages, different shapes and colors, and not to mention different names. (P. Cubensis, P. Mexicana, etc.) Strains, more accurately cultivars (sometimes you'll see them referred to as "races"), are the same species typically the result of selective breeding by the cultivator to try and draw out more "favorable" characteristics (Golden Teacher and Penis Envy). Different cultivars are the "same" mushroom, ie. sexually compatible, while that doesn't always hold true between species. Most of the notable characteristics are generally minimal, even if they look drastic, and would give nearly the same experience as another cultivar of the same species. "Strains" came about as a marketing ploy to try and make certain mushroom cultures seem more appealing an exotic when in reality they were just selling the same mushroom. This isn't to say that cultivars don't have an impact they absolutely do and a good one will provide high yields, quick colonization, be aggressive, and be aesthetically pleasing. While a poor one may be missing all of these favorable desirable traits, given one or two generations you could most likely pull out the more desirable traits and make them more consistent. TLDR: Generally, a Cubes a Cubes a Cube. If you want something different, try a different species because most of the strains, even if they look different, will be basically exactly the same. >>8591 Haven't gotten around to cultivating any psychedelic ones yet. But I've always enjoyed the look of Golden Teachers, and they're generally quite a bit more forgiving when my dosing isn't the best.

>>8592 I've had penis envy, blue meanies, and Huautla cubensis and the Huautla ones were definitely the worst trip of my life, penis envy is popular for a reason.

I'm sick with a stuffy nose and slight cotton mouth. I really want to trip cause I worked a 6 day week with today being my only day off and I was planning this before I got sick. I still got 3 hours to make my decision, go for it or nah?
Hitomi · 2022-04-18 19:12
is there any basis for the idea that different species give different trips, beyond placebo, set/setting and expectation?
Agent Smith · 2022-04-19 19:46
>>10678 different mixes of psilocin/psilocybin/baeostycin/etc. in different species, as well as other chemicals which may change the bioavailability of the psychoactive chemicals, may alter the trip slightly.
Agent Smith · 2022-04-22 10:40
>>10678 There is different concentrations so different doses but that aside there is different ratios of different substances which all may have their own effects. It's just only psilocybin has been heavily studied while other components often neglected in research.
Guthrie · 2022-04-23 08:32
>>10691 I think that's the issue overall is there needs to be more research to know more about Shrooms than anything else. Especially with the strains and effects.
