or any alcohol. I don't even drink much coffee. I'm not really planning on doing any either. I don't see anything morally wrong with drugs, they just don't seem enjoyable and the risks don't seem to be worth it. I haven't had to deal with any social pressure because somehow none of my friends do anything either. Any lainons like me? Do you guys think I'm really weird?

You're honestly not missing anything. The only drugs that's genuinely enjoyable for its own sake is acid (and friends) and even then it's not something I want to do regularly.

Coffee (caffeine and some other psychoactive constituents) is a drug. Alcohol is a drug. You consume drugs, it's just the `drugs` you refer to are the ones you don't consume.
Tequila · 2021-02-20 20:44

I used to be like that until I got interested in pot tough I was using CBD oil before it. Nobody pushed me to it and I just started using it out of my own choice. It kinda depends on what you're lookin for, I think it was just wanting to escape the lockdowns for me. Pot can be heavy if you don't know what to expect. I would suggest having some kind of experience buddy keeping an eye on you if you are planning on using something "weird" for the first time.

How would you know if they are enjoyable? That simply means you don't understand what drugs can provide. It is an objectively incorrect belief. Drugs are definitely enjoyable. I hope you're 12 years old or something to be honest

>>7793 There's nothing wrong with staying abstinent in various capacities, and you're not weird for spending your time in a different way from a specific subset of people. Though, the on-the-fence attitude in your word choice just comes off as naïve and mildly pretentious. Kind of like walking into a restaurant going on about how you're a vegan, but there's nothing wrong with eating meat. The only responses you're going to get are weird stares and a "that's cool... I guess?" If the thread was "what do you guys think about drugs?" or any related topic, I think there'd be something a bit more interesting to talk about.

The problem is that getting addicted to drugs is really easy and quick, and breaking free from drugs is long and hard, and then we have those who make a living selling poison without taking it themselves, that is the main reason for drugs because no adult with common sense is going to want to take them but if you are already addicted you might believe it is too late to turn back, although it is never too late.
Roger Pollack · 2021-07-18 08:19
>>7793 I drink strong black tea (I mean, really fvcking strong), as it helps me stay focused. Otherwise, beer and wine for the taste, general strong alcohol as a performance booster. Nothing wrong with keeping drugfree tho, drugs are not a requirement by any means.
Nell · 2021-07-18 08:33
>>8795 >The problem is that getting addicted to drugs is really easy and quick False. It generally takes a lifetime to build up mental issues that can then lead to substance abuse as a coping mechanism. >no adult with common sense is going to want to take them False. Many highly successful people take drugs regularly. If you knew anything about the finance culture that sounds absolutely hilarious. Similarly for artists of all forms and athletes, among others.
Vasya Pupkin · 2021-07-18 13:11
>>7802 One drug makes you aggressive, poisons your liver, gives you diabetes, is highly taxed by governments, is highly addictive and makes you homeless. The other drug helps you wake up, prevents kidney stones, stimulates the liver and blood circulation, is not highly taxed by governments, is only slightly addictive and is used by working people and scientists. Coffee also won't make you homeless, unless you was an owner of a bankrupt coffee shop. The only big downside of drinking coffee I know of is dehydration which can be fixed by drinking high-quality water and supplementing electrolytes. What you try to do here is to assign one category to two different substances, it's like putting chihuahua and wolves into one bag and calling them predators.
Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2021-07-18 13:14
>>8797 >False. Many highly successful people take drugs regularly. I think that's highly dependent on the person. Generally underage people get addicted quickly but there are also adults with predispositions to get addicted. And I don't think there are substances you can take and still be responsible.
John Rain · 2021-07-18 14:13
>>7793 Honestly, same. I don't drink coffee because I dislike the taste, but I don't do any drugs or drink alcohol partially because I dislike the idea of coping my way out of reality even if it is soykaf (and maybe I will get addicted exactly because it is a good way of escapism), and partially because I honestly fear of what I will become and I fear that I will speak things about myself that I have hidden so well in all those years. About personal beliefs, many personal beliefs that were socially unacceptable I have already dropped (not because they were socially unacceptable but because they were idiotic), but I still have some of them. >just do it alone Then I fall into more or less the same line of thinking as OP, I don't have any particular interest or curiosity for drugs, and I'd rather not take any risks. My problem is that there is peer pressure from my friends to drink alcohol, although I don't get out of my home because of the pandemic so it is not that big of a deal.
Joe Bloggs · 2021-07-18 15:23
>>8800 >And I don't think there are substances you can take and still be responsible. No. The dosage makes all the difference. Every drug can be taken at a quantity where you get some effect but are still fully functional.
Unknown · 2021-07-18 15:56
>>8802 Is risking your health for no reason, even in small doses, responsible? What definition of a drug are you referring to? Do people really walk around and say "Let's responsibly take 1mg of heroin"? There are some drugs that have less harmful and more effective alternatives. Do you still consider taking harmful drugs with better alternatives responsible? I don't. Things easy to overdose should be replaced, highly-addictive drugs should be replaced, drugs with many side effects should be replaced.
Random · 2021-07-18 16:48
>>8803 opiates just like heroin, and recreationally active sedatives like xanax, are prescribed very regularly and used by people responsibly in doses that dont impair function. Amphetamines (speed, aka adderall) are very regularly used at low doses that just help college kids and wageslaves be more productive. People even microdose LSD (that means below threshold of perception) claiming it may give subtle effects. All of this can be done responsibly. Drugs are just chemicals. Most recreational drugs are also prescribed legally, and most people are fine. People like you tend to discriminate between illegal and legal drugs but it is a truly stupid way to try to split the category. These things are all extremely common but obviously the retarded addicts are just more visible, and the world governments spend billions on propaganda. >Is risking your health for no reason, even in small doses, responsible? it is more dangerous every time you get in a car or smoke a cigarette. >harmful drugs I am sure you dont know what you are talking about. You state heroin for example, but it causes very low harm compared to most drugs as long as you dont consider people that are injecting in a nonsterile way or using bad quality material that only exists because of the war on drugs
Koos van der Merwe · 2021-07-18 17:00
>>8804 Okay, you convinced me. So the problems come only when people take drugs irresponsibly? People are mostly irresponsible though, how would you keep them from getting addicted and dying? Or is it because the government has a monopoly over addicting people?
Turner · 2021-07-18 17:06
>>8804 >but it causes very low harm compared to most drugs as long as you dont consider people that are injecting in a nonsterile way or using bad quality material that only exists because of the war on drugs most people only do that once they're addicted and willing to use in such substandard ways. Guy I know who got addicted started off smoking high-quality white heroin. He always said he would never start shooting up because then it's way cheaper, so as long as he kept only smoking it he would remain gated by how expensive it is (it's some sloppy reasoning but it gets the point across). I don't know where he is now. >>8805 >People are mostly irresponsible though, how would you keep them from getting addicted and dying? Education and support. Addicts usually know what they're doing, they just don't see themselves as worth saving. That's why religion-based addiction recovery works so well.

I have been extremely fortunate not to have any mental illnesses requiring medication (aside from the obligatory estradiol -- this is Lainchan, after all -- present day, present time and all that), that is to say, I additionally take fexofenadine and drink copious amounts of coffee, but consume no controlled nootropics (which is quite a narrow definition, when you put it that way). I don't know what it means, if anything. It's not really something to "write home about"; it is simply the absence of a facet of life. Worth a thought, anyway.

Of the dumbest drugs are the psychonaut ones. Interestingly that translates to psychological sailor, of which we all should be without such hallucinogenic drugs. LSD won't make you think on a deeper level, it would glitch your boat and make you end up in a wild storm you don't understand. That's not going anywhere. That's the astronaut burning up in a fire from my perspective and being born anew, only someone that has it against x person would say to do it to change them while on top of it flaming opiates that take away pain and don't harm the body over time (barring respiratory arrest of which can be caused by spammed by doctors benzos plus legal booze). Also benzos can harm you too, people never read the side effects but some are more harmful than others and take like 60 hours to get out of your system despite having a 12 hour half life. Is that harming your kidneys? But oh, no withdrawal symptoms. Thanks assholes. Pretend that the ups and downs of life can be avoided. Guess what? They can't. Drugs let you choose when you are up or down though. That is not the drug controlling you, that is YOU controlling how you feel in life. Everything they say is a lie in short. >>9195 I've heard addictive personality is not real so if you need coping mechanisms to be so spammed and don't have brain damage making you impulsive beyond what they call 'your control' then you have a soykaf life without or with them and are still suffering form that need of a coping mechanism to be there in such great amounts and or frequencies.

Long-term use causes all kinds of neurological problems, immune system problems, and heart problems. You're spreading straight misinfo if you think acid is "unhealthy" but opiates aren't. >LSD won't make you think on a deeper level, it would glitch your boat and make you end up in a wild storm you don't understand. >>8796 >beer and wine for the taste You're not the first person in the thread to say this, but why do people keep coming to the conclusion that they drink alcohol for the taste? Same with coffee, tobacco and cannabis. They're all unpleasant taste's because they're all either originally poisons or compounds meant to make the plants inherently unappealing, which people then train themselves to enjoy. If your really appreciated the taste why not drink non-alcoholic beer from now on? As for the OP, coffee's a drug and it ruins your body's ability to sleep and natural energy levels. But frankly as long as it's not causing you issues don't worry. Often I wish I wouldn't have a drive or desire to do drugs. The majority all drug use is due to either curiosity, or emotional/mental issues. So if you don't feel the calling then don't worry about it. Although I would encourage you to try some things, that way you have at least some knowledge of the happenings of large majorities of the population.

>>7793 >Do you guys think I'm really weird? Depending how old you are, the only weird part would be that you've never had any alcohol. In my experience, people who refuse to drink in social situations are too self-conscious (or prideful) to risk losing even the slightest bit of control over themselves in front of others. People who can't let go for a while and relax at the cost of their image are generally unpleasant in my experience. And for those who use the "I dont want to poison my body" argument, these people are usually okay with all other poisons of the modern world but for some reason draw the line at one that can actually be enjoyable to consume. As others said, I find consuming drugs for the sake of exploring your mind and expanding your perception of reality very enjoyable. I consider taking LSD to have been a turning point in my life in terms of my general worldview. I only take it a handful of times a year if that, but it can be very useful for noticing things that were never apparent before. I never would've come to love music as much as I do now without listening to it while tripping, for example. Weed is okay, its good for relaxing after work but its certainly more "addicting" in my experience. Once you start consuming regularly it's hard to get out of it. It also kills my motivation and fuarrrks with my hunger. I try to avoid any harder drugs because I don't trust myself to resist addiction. But in general, no one cares about whether you do drugs or not. If you're happy not doing drugs then I don't see any reason to rush into them, but consumption in moderate qualities can be fun at a low risk to yourself.
Yamaoto Toshi · 2021-09-29 16:14
>>9207 Having history with alcohol, I can tell you that frequent alcohol consumption can be both hard to stop and highly disruptive In my experience, so long as I don't overdo it, weed doesn't interfere with my ability to get into the flow and maintain single-minded focus on my tinkering (neither did alcohol, it messed with other things, but I'm addressing the motivation bit).

I don't think you're missing out on anything. I'm 24. Nowadays, I only drink coffee and smoke cigarettes. During my teens and early 20s I used to drugs on a daily basis. First time I've ever did a strong drug other than alcohol was when I was 13 when I smoked a weed-like RC. Then I did another cocaine-like RC when I was 15. I started smoking weed daily since 16. I used to go to raves and abuse MDMA. I did opiates (yes, heroin), psychedelics, k, speed countless of times. Anything under the sun. But my main substance of abuse was weed. Honestly, all these drugs, are low-quality and I regret doing them. I did not end up on the other side of the spectrum, being an absolutist with a negative opinion on drugs. I don't have anything against them. I believe there are some good drugs, like coffee or tea. If there was a weak drug simmilar to coffee, tea (something like modafinil), I might be interested in that. Even microdoses of weed sound interesting, but it's that feisable long-term. But I've lost interest in anything else.

I just generally like to push my limitations in general. Did bodybuilding, did fight a lot, did hack, did drugs, did travel a lot.... I had a phase for about a year as a teenager where I used them off and on, mostly with friends, primarily weed, I got into psychedelics, then I grew out of that phase. I have had opportunities to take drugs but rarely seize them, not even when prescribed painkillers after surgery, they just don't interest me anymore, I think it is also because I do not perceive them as cool, I did when I had done them as a kid, although I did not think they were that attractive.
