Recovering from traumatic trip

Hi all About a year ago I had a bad experience with LSD. Me and a friend took approx. 400mcg LSD each in a student dorm. I don't remember how it happened but he ended up calling the ambulance on me and I had to take the ambulance during the peak. Since this, LSD has always resulted in more difficult experiences. Before I could take 300mcg without a problem, but now every time I do I super easily go into a state of complete terror and sadness. It happens over a couple of seconds too, as soon as something emotionally reminds me of the experience. My question is, has anyone else experienced this, and how did you handle it? Am I doomed to having random panic attacks when taking higher doses?

>>6577 Honestly man, I would take a long break from psychedelics (at least a few years). While they do have numerous benefits it is absolutely possible to harm yourself at higher doses. If you get back into them, I would start with taking a small amount of shrooms or something gentle and working your way up from there. There's no rush. You have your whole life after all.

>>6578 I think I'll start with taking at least a half years pause. I have tried getting over it by getting used to tripping again, and while it made me able to handle it better it never made it go away. If it's not better in half a year, I'll seriously consider taking an even longer break. Thanks for the input.

>>6577 All about set and setting, I'd advise never to do psychedelics if those aren't in order. Do you have any specific intent when you trip, i.e. hoping to get something meaningful out of the experience, or is it more recreational for you?

OP, I had one of these bummer trips about 15 years ago. Suffered panic attacks for the following few years, couldn’t even enjoy weed anymore. Pretty much the only thing that fixed it was axing everything related to that lifestyle I had and try to focus on other things in life. Time fixes it.

Eugh, calling the amberlamps on someone whose tripping is such a bad idea pretty much all the time. I almost did it once and I'm so glad I came to my senses before I called. You should definitely take a break from tripping. IMO everyone should do that periodically anyway. LSD does have very long term effects and it's important to reset your reality every once in a while, so to speak.

>>6583 Usually it is more recreational, and I let the meaning come if it wants to show itself. >>6585 Nice to hear someone else with a similar experience. How long of a break did you take? >>6586 Yup, and he knows that too. Stupid decision to trip on such a high dosage without a tripsitter. Can't blame him for acting irrationally, I couldn't differentiate between the external world and my internal thoughts and we both took the same dose.
