Kratom Thread

Kratom Thread. How many of y'all use Kratom? What's your favourite strain? How long have you been using? etc. I'm a red vein guy myself, have a strong propensity towards opiates.
Chisa · 2020-07-30 10:51
I'm all about kratom enemas in my ear

As an ex opiates consumer myself (totally stopped all opiates since) I'm sometimes looking for some opioid experience from time to time. Does it worth it? Is there any risk of getting addict as strong as with opiates? How did you use it?

It doesn't have same addiction potential but it's still there. Technically it's opioid like rather than an opioid in itself.
sourgout · 2020-07-31 01:27
I tend to consume it by either parachuting the powdered leaf in tissue or by mixing it with water and gulping that soykaf down. The effects vary depending on what strain, but generally White Vein is energizing and Red Vein is more sedating. I heard someone once refer to it as "if Adderall and Codeine had a baby and the Adderall went to the brain and the Codeine went to the body".
I use it to sedate myself and kill pain mostly, but it also helps me get my music projects and school projects done.

It (mitragynine, the main active alkaloid in kratom) acts on the mu, kappa, and delta opioid receptors, it's an opioid. Not opioid-like.

I thought opioids are defined as alkaloids from poppy and synthetic opioids based on these alkaloids not what receptors are involved. All the scientific papers I found described mitragynine as "opioid like" rather than try to classify it as an opioid.

Interesting. I read that you could smoke it to. Does it worth it?
The mixed stimulant/sedative effects looks interesting. Will lurk.

What's a reputable vendor? I see reddit has derezzed discussion about vendors, otherwise I'd look there. Oasis came up when I was looking around but I don't know anything.

taken a sec to reflect on this post, sorry if this is unwelcome discussion here as well

Don't kratom could be obtained legally in most countries? Look for a online headshops. Maybe.

from what I've read smoking it is absolutely inefficient, some people report not being sure whether there was actually any effect. Kratom after all is not a very potent drug, just consume it normally, by toss and wash or by making tea out of it (take care to use water that isn't too hot in order not to destroy the alkaloids).

that's what I was thinking too, at least in European countries you can just walk into a headshop/herbshop and buy. But because of its legality you can simply order it by the kilogram.

Like with many other substances, you can build up a habitual dependence. Just don't overuse it and you'll be fine. I've read that in contrast to actual opiates, the active component in kratom (mitragynine) doesn't cause your body to produce the enzymes that lead to respiratory depression. I'm not sure what the other risks are, but that alone makes kratom significantly less risky.
I myself dabble every once in a while in kratom. No actual opiate experiences to compare kratom to, except for few times of codeine. I would say kratom functions identically, even though you need a higher kratom dose to match something like codeine. In any case, sedative effects where what I was looking for when I tried kratom, so red strains are naturally my go to and favorite.
I also have very low alcohol tolerance, so I tried kratom + alcohol once, high kratom low alcohol dosage. Was very blissful, although I'm not really sold on the idea (beware, alcohol + kratom can be a very *bad* idea). Kratom can be however safely consumed in addition to weed, that's a mix I would much rather recommend. I don't know the mechanism, but both somehow intensify each other. And by intensify I really mean intensify, I haven't had any combinations as euphoric before.
All in all, can recommend, kratom is versatile and simply amazing.

Supposedly best prices are places that online only sell kratom. I think they often sell in bulk though.

Any drug that interacts with your opioid receptors predominantly and produces effects similar to morphine is an opioid. Mitragynine produces effects similar to morphine when ingested; particularly itching, nausea, constipation, pain relief, and euphoria.
>I thought opioids are defined as alkaloids from poppy
"Opiates" are opioids that are naturally produced from the opiate poppy.
>and synthetic opioids based on these alkaloids not what receptors are involved.
Synthetic opioids can be based on opioids found in the opiate poppy such as morphine which can be acetylated to produce diacetylmorphine, heroin. They can also be drugs like fentanyl which are completely synthetic and have no basis in naturally occurring alkaloids. Morphine is the sort of "gold standard" regarding opioids and everything is compared to it.
>All the scientific papers I found described mitragynine as "opioid like" rather than try to classify it as an opioid.
That's silly. Mitragynine interacts with your mu, kappa, and delta opioid receptors predominantly, and produces effects similar to morphine. It's a naturally occuring opioid.

I understand your point but this discussion isn't going anywhere because it seems the issue is semantics because it's not studied enough to where it's widely called an opioid even if it could classify as one.

its my backup for when I don't have weed. very comfy substance. I like doing it late at night while doing NEETshit like vidya and anime. my buddies also invented a thing called triple faded where you take a hit out of a gravity bong and then toss and wash kratom with whatever alchololic beverage.
