Amanita Muscaria

What's the best way to ingest it? I've read something online about just boiling the dried mushrooms in water for half an hour and drinking it but I'm sure someone here has more experience. There's a spot near my house where they grow ever year, so obtaining them isn't a problem, that's the reason I'm even considering taking them. Don't really have any dealers and I don't want to order stuff online. The bigger problem is that I don't know if I should even take them. My sister has schizophrenia and I don't want to trigger something by taking psychedelics. I don't know of any other cases in our family but it's better to be safe than sorry. You have more experience than me as I don't really have an extensive history with drugs(don't like alcohol, drank energy drink as a teenager, smoked hookah with friends once) and I'd really appreciate some advice.

I couldn't give you better advice than looking on erowid. https://www.erowid.org/plants/amanitas/amanitas.shtml Be careful Lainon, not a good tripping experience but rather a nightmarish witchery to your brain. Only for hardcore psychonauts.

For the sake of accuracy, it is good to note that Amanita Muscaria isn't actually a psychedelic, it is a something like a dissociative/atypical deliriant: Two major components: - Ibotenic acid: NMDA agonist + GABA effects [1] - Muscimol: GABA_A agonist [2] Also, a note that might be helpful from A. muscaria wiki if you want to try and modulate dosing amount (or just eat less mushroom): "These toxins are not distributed uniformly in the mushroom. Most are detected in the cap of the fruit, a moderate amount in the base, with the smallest amount in the stalk." >but I'm sure someone here has more experience. Unfortunately not, I've been keeping an eye out for couple years but have yet to stumble across it. >>6232 >My sister has schizophrenia and I don't want to trigger something by taking psychedelics I hate to be that guy lain, but this is generally the BIG reason not to take psychs. Having a psych-induced psychotic break that develops into real schizophrenia is generally a day/month/year/decade ruiner. That said, I have some n=1 evidence. A friend of mine had a close relative with schizophrenia (or a similar other form of extreme atypical thought disorder). This friend occasionally consumed a strong ketamine-like dissociative without any short or long-term ill effects that I am aware of. However, I am not telling you it is a good idea to take A. muscaria, since YMMV, IANAD, etc. Be safe lain! I'm surprised nobody has bothered to mention that picking wild mushrooms is INCREDIBLY dangerous. You might think you're getting A.M., but it might be poison. There's no antidote to mushroom poisoning.

>>6238 AM is pretty distinctive. The ones that are really dangerous to look for are Liberty Caps, as they look almost exactly like Death Caps. There are also a few other poisonous psilocybe lookalikes but they have other distinctive features. One time I found a *huge* one in a field, like 8 inches wide. I didn't really want to eat it tho. >>6232 >The bigger problem is that I don't know if I should even take them. My sister has schizophrenia and I don't want to trigger something by taking psychedelics. Amanitas isn't just a psychedelic, it's a deleriant. The chances of psychosis are a lot higher and the chances of a good trip are a lot lower. Look for a psilocybin mushroom, VERIFY that it is a psilocybin mushroom, and take a small dose if you're really interested. But if you really want to hold on to your sanity you should probably avoid psychedelics. I definitely lost some of mine and I don't regret it, but that was my choice.

>>6239 >But if you really want to hold on to your sanity you should probably avoid psychedelics or any kind of drug honestly. Even alcohol can make you nuts.

>>6240 When younger I was into some binge-drinking with high alcohol and it was the most confusing drug I ever used. It literally turning me mad, getting asleep for 7 hours without being conscientious of myself, doing dumb soykaf without ever realizing it... And made me very vulnerable to nefarious people. I'm thankfull today that I never stumble across dangerous people/situation when high on alcohol. Today I almost never drink, expect some occasions but without going full retard.

Aside from what others have said. I am no pharmacist or doctor or experienced user just wanting to help avoid problems if no one thinks of anything better. One should have activated charcoal which is taken in water (pic related), silybin (milk thistle extract) and N-acetylcysteine on hand just in case you misidentify the mushroom or otherwise start feeling bad. Take each just don't be dumb and take too much of those either. This will at least help stop it from getting too much worse but if it was a misidentification or overdose one could still need medical treatment. One also needs to keep a mushroom that is not eaten for identification in case it was identified wrong after being injested and notes on the other substances taken to try to counteract it and at what amount all written beforehand. What I haven't figured out yet is how to reduce the excitotoxocity frim the NMDA receptors and if doing so will alter the experience for better or worse. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26091874/ http://www.inchem.org/documents/pims/fungi/fungi.htm https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/817848-overview

First degree relative presents a high risk of developing schizophrenia. Also those mushrooms can be quite toxic. I advise avoiding it entirely

After more research it seems cell death caused by over activation of NMDAR is difficult to find ways counteract. It's being studied as a way of protecting from neuronal damage caused by head trauma. Apparently the cell death is caused by cells opening up and taking in too much stuff like sodium and calcium. I have concluded fasting for at least six hours minimum before ingestion may hypothetically help minimize the damage done.

>>6282 On second thought since silybin and NAC won't likely interfere with the trip there is no reason not to take them same time or a little before ingesting A. muscaria. The silybin will provide no protection if it legitimately is A. Muscaria but will. Activated charcoal aka activated carbon is just to take if one were to feel bad or have a change of mind or realize one misidentified the mushrooms.

>>6291 > The silybin will provide no protection if it legitimately is A. Muscaria but will The silybin will provide no protection if it legitimately is A. Muscaria but will Prematurely sent this. I meant "but will provide protection of toxins of other mushrooms that harm the renal system. NAC also helps protect the renal system but may provide minor protection to the brain for A. Muscaria but I am not certain on that.

>>6232 i did amanitas a couple of times, they are nice every now and then. to prepare them i let them dry for a few weeks, 2-4 should do the trick and then dry them further in the ofen for half an hour at 80°C. i then boil them in an eyeballed 500ml of water with a whole pressed lemon until there is just about a shot of water is left. the lemon has two effects, firstly it decarboxylates the ibotenic acid into muscimol and secondly it makes thr shot taste better, at least not as bad that it makes you wanna through up. it's a interessting experience, for a beginner it'd recommend 10g but if you wanna push it further you can take 15-20g and maybe even more, i usally fall asleep during the experience and have really intense dreams. don' push the dose to far though espacially if you have a family history of some mental illness wish you good luck lain, have fun and be carefull

I am curious if anyone ever takes advice given to them. Threads like this often have OP not return back later to let everyone know how things went. Come on OP don't leave us hangin'.
Apoc · 2020-08-03 23:38
>>6342 Don't worry, I come back to read replies pretty often. The mushrooms didn't grow yet and I'm still looking up stuff so it'll have to wait a bit though.

I've eaten and drank tea. Both were good. The Tea I think has a prolonged effect. But honestly, I've had crazy trips on both. So just do a brave does (3+) and let go.
Jane Doe · 2020-08-04 05:25
>>6343 Okay that's good. Just making sure you didn't get inpatient and roll the fungal dice. I forgot to mention there are theories of schizophrenia that involve glutamate toxicity and NMDA receptors. I can't find clinical evidence of amanita muscaria leading to schizophrenia though. I've only managed to find reports of psychosis that lasted a few days. Of course this doesn't mean no such thing has occured or documented just I haven't had luck finding info on that.

Never thought I would stumble upon a patent for uncreasing the muscimol to ibotenic acid ratio https://patents.google.com/patent/US20140004084

Ever experienced shrooms not working? I think I've eaten 5 in total, in 4 different days, to no effect. Sized 1-2 inch each, some fresh, some dried for a couple months. I know they are AM because my friend ate from the same batch and got high and the effect didn't fully disappear for 2 or 3 days. I'm pretty healthy, but had the same experience with cannabis: didn't get me high the first 15 times or so, throughout a year. Is it absorbed by the intestine? If so, it could be a gluten-high diet making my intestine unable to absorb enough.
