Ok, Lainchan, I want to take some droogs. However, I have a familial history of psychosis and I have anxiety. My sister and dad both slonked in the past, and both had issues arise from it (with my sister still having auditory hallucinations to this day). My question is, what would you recommend to someone in my position? I'm leaning toward some acid or shrooms (and perhaps some amphetamines), but the first two, to my knowedge, have been known to have similar affects as weed for those in my position. So what do?

you should stay away from drugs, someone with you health problems wouldn't go well. If you do, use a spotter (sober guy that watches over you, keeps you from doing dumb soykaf)

No cannabis, no psychedelics, no stimulants, no deleriants. Bad idea there. >>6140 Opioids seem too harsh and risky for someone not used to doing drugs and probably irresponsible. Only opioid like drug that may be ok is kratom which should be enough for someone with no other opioid experience.

Not really, if you were diagnosed, it means you're likely to have genes coding schizophrenia, only waiting to be activated. Your lifestyle determines your gene expression - if you live healthily, some bad genes may remain inactivated, but if you start taking drugs, you can fuarrrk up everything. Also you should probably take your meds, you never know when your illness comes back.

amphetamines are much worse for causing psychosis than weed or psychedelics, and weed is worse than psychedelics. The key, though, is set & setting. DO NOT take ANY drugs if you are at a precarious position, or if you are in a place that makes you anxious. You will have a very bad time and it will probably trigger latent schizophrenia. It is very important that you also know the effects of the drug very well and don't believe that the drug will "enlighten" you or that the visions you see are real. These seem to be a very consistent cause of people taking away poor lessons. Really, it would probably be best for you to avoid drugs altogether.

IME, a bad weed trip can be much more paranoid and anxious than a bad acid trip. When taken in large quantities(in edible or oil form) it is just as powerful. The context of weed is also different, mostly people expect you to act "normal" and don't know how to handle someone having a psychotic break, while most acid heads are aware of how to deal with someone else's bad trip. Mostly mixing the two is the worst though. I did it once and I will never do it again, makes the trip go sideways. It is true that weed is a less powerful drug at commonly used doses and, absent all context, is probably not as bad as acid. But context is very important.

You're probably a young adult. Late teens to early twenties. This is the prime time for psychosis and other mental illnesses such as schizophrenia to start to exhibit themselves. There has been no literature to show that these drugs cause permanent psychosis or schizophrenia, but there are a few (rare) cases of people taking them and then exhibiting these mental illnesses, even going so far as having manic episodes while tripping. My advice: wait until you're out of your young adult years before doing these drugs. See a psychiatrist after that and get evaluated. Tell them what you want to do and see what they say. Get a professional medical opinion. After all that, decide if you want to do these drugs. They aren't going away anytime soon, after all. You can wait.

Read up on research papers on the anti-psychotic effects of cannabidiol (CBD). Make sure to only get a high-CBD strain of cannabis and you should be fine. 1:1 is already fine to use. What you find when you buy weed within the context of illegality is usually something like 1:20 CBD:THC, or probably even less. Low dosage of psilocybin within the context of a friendly environment (social trust, safety) should also be fine for most people. These things are however very complex, there are many variables and it's hard to predict. Stay safe.
