How to cope with this hell of abstinence?

You will have to shift your energy to some other activity.
The lockdown might help you or make it worse.
If you have the possibility you might try gardening or hiking, personally i would do something to distance myself from the usual things that keep me locked in these patterns.

>domanime is more addictive than serotonin/GABA inhibition/opiate receptors
not true necessarily at all everybody has their vice that will kill them but alcohol is much more dangerous and typically life ruiningly addictive compared to masturbation. Even for dopamine based addictions obesity and food addiction kills more.

for me weed was way harder to quit then heroin, i tried for .. i think 5 years ?.. its kind of fuzzy im sorry.. anyways, what i wanted to share with you was that for me the most important takeaway was that even if i relapsed, i learned not to blame myself for it, rather tried to learn what exactly caused my failure and to be more aware of similar things in my next attempt. im clean now for almost 8 years. you can do it!

I salute you for wanting to leave porn during these times. I gave up for the time being, I'm finding some good stuff.
Guthrie · 2020-04-05 17:34
I actually managed to quit porn. I had to do some research on the effects of masturbation and porn so I couldn't cheat on the basis of uncertainty. If I get cravings I basically remind myself of the crappy feeling of disgust and worthlessness I got after the deed.
Jet Black · 2020-04-05 18:10
I use porn a lot less than I used to but I still masturbate frequently. I have a few fantasies that are much better than any video.
I have found that as long as I jerk off less than twice a day, it still feels great and if I don't jerk off for a few days I feel horny and agitated.
I also quit weed for a while but started again.
OP: you won't get anywhere by quitting everything cold turkey. >>5610 said it right. Taper off, quit for one day, then two, then three, etc... and forgive yourself for failing. Because you will fail a few times. After a few months you will find that your craving is controllable.
藤原純一 · 2020-04-05 19:37
>>5597
OP, a good piece of advice for you. Write down while still on drugs on a notepad the reason you want to quit. Try to capture the feelings you have at the moment and a few(lot of) logical arguments why you will quit said activities. After quitting your state of mind will change, you will either feel an overwhelming urge to revert back or you won't feel nothing at all. When you find yourself in that situation open the things you wrote down. It will help you see your goal and be rational. Good luck

just work the twelve steps.
Start with 15 days. If you don't make it then try again. If you do push for thirty days. Start small.
Try quitting porn before quitting masturbation. Masturbation doesn't fuarrrk your mind it's the porn.
Take my advice, I'm in rehab as of now. Good luck anon.

I still fap sometimes but it's more an hygienic routine than a need. Anyway if you stop fapping you will release semen when you'll sleep, nice sensation with weird wet-dreams).
I still smoke tobacco but as a pipe smoker it's more controlled. I can spend time without smoking.
You will be a new man after quitting at least weed.
I still use drugs but it's a "one time a year or more" so it's very appreciable.

Aristóteles Amadópulus · 2020-04-21 12:23

That depends on what kinds of filters and pipes.
I smoked in lots of ways and it depends quite a lot on on what kind of pipe and or filter and what and the way you smoke it.

well smoking pipes has lower chance of lung cancer than cigarettes... however it also significantly increases chances of mouth and throat cancer

>if you stop fapping you will release semen when you'll sleep
source? because people with low libido don't masturbate that often (or at all) and don't necessarily have wet dreams for example. wet dreams occur only occasionally in adult life... it's mostly something that happens during puberty. if this is just "well you gotta get rid of your sperm" (which is not entirely true), well that's what sex was invented for, no?
Technician · 2020-04-22 04:22
>>5734
As a god forsaken degenerate, I can confirm that (at least in my experience) stopping fapping doesn't make you have more wet dreams, but it does make your urges a lot worse if you aren't doing anything.
XERXES · 2020-04-22 06:58
op here, at day 19, i've had a lot of dreams compared to what i used to have when i was a dopamine-addicted degenerate, many of them were kinda sexual (without any wet dream yet), most recently dream was me hugging my ex (she broke up with me like a year ago because she wanted an open relationship and i didn't agree about it)

That was something happenning to me. Maybe more when I was younger. I think opiates could have influenced to.
And it was something factual for me. But after a quick search it looks like it's not correlated with fapstopping.

Vaping>cigarette>pipe.
And I smoke my pipes without filters.
No less chances of lung cancer than cigarette as long as you inhale the smoke (some pipe smokers don't).
But yes more chances of mouth cancer because smoking pipe is all about "playing" with the smoke.

(Disclaimer: these are the words of someone who has never had much success with abstinence but has also never employed "scorched earth tactics")
Have you considered using a "swear jar" approach, where there is a tangible penalty associated with relapsing? The idea is not to torture yourself but to add a cost to your mental model of the situation, theoretically making it harder to make a "bad" choice.
Consider reading Allen Carr's The Easy Way to Stop Smoking and generalize his points from tobacco to other compulsive behaviors, but don't treat his ideas as dogma. Pay special attention to his "enjoy your life" dictate. You have to make up for that dopamine loss somehow.
I don't know exactly what your feelings are regarding these pictures you keep posting, but consider laying off the anime girls. Remember that anime is designed as sexual superstimulus. Don't watch it. Block images on sites that might display it (like chans). Similar principle for many video games
Block porn sites on every browser you use. If there's no way to block sites on that browser, delete it and get a new browser. If even that proves insufficient, you may need to switch to a "whitelist" rather than "blacklist" approach to internet browsing or else cut out recreational internet use. Maybe create a long, complex password for your blocking extension, don't memorize it, and contrive some system such that you won't be able to access the copy for the intended period (unless your extension already has a time lock feature, then just do that). If you have porn saved, delete it. Don't leave it in the recycle bin. Delete it. Even if you masturbate, ditching porn should help in the long run. If your sexuality is mostly visual, maybe read books for fun for a while, unless you don't find books fun, in which case you'll need something you do enjoy.
If you do relapse, don't let yourself binge or go harder than usual.
Sleep until you aren't tired. Reduce stress to the greatest feasible degree. Eat well. You need to keep your satisfaction and rational faculties at their highest possible levels.
Lastly and perhaps most importantly, don't fall for the trap of over-analyzing and over-systematizing while simultaneously under-implementing. Maybe one source says quit cold turkey while another says taper off, which leaves you confused. Every second you spend vacillating between the two is a second you spend not testing the merit of either. Pick a program quickly. Stick with it until it works or is proven ineffective in your case. Motivation to change only comes around so often, so make the most of it while you have it. If you fail, start again immediately. Cry if you want to, but cut that "I failed so I'm a failure so I'll never succeed and I may as well give up so I'm going to give up" spiral off as soon as it starts. It's bullshit, and I don't mean that in some kind of "you're great and I like you" way. I don't know you. All I know is that this particular thought spiral is bullshit. It's unsubstantiated and has no basis in reality.
Here's wishing you good luck and better practice, Lain

It's called reality and it's the reason we use drugs in the first place. This marathon sounds more like some trophy you're trying to earn than a positive lifestyle choice anyway... sure there's ill effects to all drugs but there's no sensible reason to give up masturbating.

My friends and I are avid psychonauts and we tend to do our research diligently, but I dont know this info first hand, I would believe it, but I will also advise you to do your own research if really interested.
My friend is a heavy smoker, and was vaping as route to quitting, I confronted him about the deaths things, and he said: They were mixing their own cannabis infused vaping liquid (I dont know if there is a specific word for it). They were using an oil based formula, and the oil would react weirdly and crystallize on the their lungs. So just using over the counter products should not lead to a fast and painful death. Something along those lines. Again, to be taken with a grain of salt,

try doing one then the other if you can't do it. Stopping masterbation will increase your testosterone making you much more agro and have a shorter fuse. You'll feel more determined and energetic too. For a week/2/3 after coming off weed you'll feel bad and annoyed and not like doing much. Push through that.. I would just watch netflix and jerk off and stuff to get through the weed bit. When you stop you'll have much more energy and focus and do the stuff you like doing not just easy lazy stuff.
The best replacement for masterbation is exercise, you should channel your new found sexual aggression into that
Jim Hilger · 2020-07-29 05:18
