spreading acid
Faye Valentine · 2020-01-17 19:19
Hey lains. I know there are many acid heads on this forum, and I want to talk about that drug.
Ever since I took my first real dose of acid, I knew that this chemical would be with me for my entire life. I knew that even if I only used it a few dozen times maybe, I would always have some on hand to give to other people. I knew this because I had a profound transcendental experience, a little peek at infinity, and when it was over I felt like I had a responsibility to help others reach that experience themselves.
I think there is a special tidbit of wisdom that is seen very rarely in people who have never taken psychedelic drugs, and less rarely in those who have. You can see it in their eyes, they're like deep pools, they've seen and felt something that people don't usually see. Universal love, or God, or the universe, or infinity, or what happens when you die, whatever you want to call it. They've seen it. In my opinion, trying to properly define what "it" is, is highly detrimental to that wisdom. Confusion is part of the process, while we should be critical of stupid acid-brain ideas we should also never impose our own thinking. That's how you get so many acid heads believing in pseudo-mystical bullshit. It turns that look in their eyes to the look of a blind follower or a madman. The proper context for this drug, I think, is one that is free of pre-made interpretations and seeks only to help the user reach a transcendental state, and to form their own beliefs about it.
Of course, psychedelic drugs can be a lot of fun too, and there's nothing wrong with recreational psychedelic use, in fact I think recreational trips can have just as much transcendental character as a meditative trip, just in a different guise. Same with micro-dosing, although a lot of people go in to microdosing with frankly terrible intentions. I won't give it to someone who wants a competitive edge.
I figure, if I can provide the drug and a safe, caring, non-judging, non-imposing environment for users, I can do a lot of good in the world. Even if only 1/10 of the people I give acid have one of those transcendental experiences and sees "it", I consider that a good thing. That's why I try to spread acid.
So I guess my question is, do you also feel this urge to spread acid? Do you think psychedelics are, on the whole, beneficial or harmful? What do you think the role of psychedelic drugs in society should be, if any?
Anamika · 2020-01-17 19:23
If you haven't read "LSD: My Problem Child" by Albert Hoffman I highly encourage you to do so. It not only contains a lot of useful information and interesting history straight from the source, but also illuminates how Albert Hoffman viewed the LSD experience, and how he used it.

No, I never enjoyed acid enough or ever got the slightest of a spiritual connection with it. To me it was more of a fun experience with little to no spiritual connection on both higher and lower dowses.
I would say they're neutral to humanity in general they're not a magical pill that improves everyone's lives, but they're also not a demon that turns its users into paranoid schizophrenics. Personally, in general, it's helped give me more insight and time thinking over a problem/question and breaks up the typical thought process that'd fall back into
As a whole I don't believe in legalization, nor do I believe in the heavily illegal status they have now. Maybe something akin to a legal gray area(more like shrooms are now in Colorado), they need that level of difficulty in their acquisition otherwise many under/un prepared individuals will come seeking from them something they're not. Plus I'd hate to see the communities, at least the ones I've been intersted in, get drowned with the low quality stereotypical garbage the masses provide

I don't know if they need difficulty per se, but it would definitely be horrible to see Kirkland branded LSD. I live in a state with full legalization of Marijuana and while the old distribution networks are still there, the proliferation of yuppie-stoners is sickening.

I am a somewhat negative nancy but I'm fairly sure that when you take a drug you don't just feel the pharmacological effects but also of course the set/setting psychological projections but most importantly and what is often forgotten I strongly believe you also feel the economic effects. That is the organizations and systems that participate in creating that experience for you.
For one I wholeheartedly support your idea to make some organized activity to contribute to the field but don't go in thinking you can bring salvation or solve peoples problems.
I wouldn't say it's universal love that everyone experiences on acid. I'd describe it as more universal terror. Sure leaves an impact into ones thinking into to long term but we should be trying to figure out what kind of impact and how to control it and how to reduce the harms of the economics. Don't wait for authorities they're losing control more and more and this is just the new reality, we gotta fix things ourselves.
Now the only really good advice: here where I live there's been founded some time ago a psychedelic research club and they coordinated multiple psychedelic related scientific articles being produced and there are ayahuasca ceremonies but none of these are exactly legal, instead they just don't give the law anything to use against them.
As for your last question... I think the role of psychedelics in society is to fool people until we figure it out.

I never had lsd before so i cant judge.
But concerning spiritual connection i have at often with with weed, different strokes for different folks, but i can relate.
>Do you think psychedelics are, on the whole, beneficial or harmful? What do you think the role of psychedelic drugs in society should be, if any?
A psychadelic/spiritual society is the way to go right now i think, even in the days of leary etc is showed us how things should go, but most people only listen to what the man tells em to.
Personally i think drugs are nothing spiritual (atleast syntethic ones as lsd), but they can act as a catalyst for spiritual experiences, but yoga, meditation etc are the real deal.

I don't know, Leary etc. showed us how *not* to build a psychedelic society, IMO. It takes more than just ingestion of a drug to come to some profound realization.
H.R. Giger · 2020-01-22 05:58
>>5120
>It takes more than just ingestion of a drug to come to some profound realization.
or more accurately: we should always be aware that it takes more than just spirituality to build the society we want to see. We saw, in the 60s and 70s, a boom in drug religions and 'spirituality' that turned out to be either cash grabs or totally empty of substance, and left the world worse off than before. Lots of people got hurt, and mainstream society easily absorbed hippie-ism and perverted it into the bullshit yuppie versions of things we have today. Think yoga studios for rich people.
The entire project of the psychedelic culture of the 1960s was a colossal failure. The modern psychedelic community survived and learned from this, I think, and has taken a much more considered approach to turning on the masses. You can't just spread the drugs -- although that's definitely part of it -- but you also have to do things. You have to educate and build networks, you have to be a hardheaded realist while remembering the whole point and keeping love in your heart. The drugs just give us a lesson, it's up to us to take notes and apply it.

Took acid a couple times,
same with tons of other drugs.
I know how basically each group of substance affects your body and mind.
Still me and my bro always make fun of those lowlives at Goa Clubs/Raves.
Just looking at those guys that are
>unable to conform to society in the slightest way..
>thinking they are enlightened and know the meaning of life despite literally failing at life in any aspect from keeping a steady job to a healthy living situation
>thinking everyone who has never taken acid is a stupid sheep that hasn't opened their "third eye"
>saying that all they need is love, nature and happiness to survive
>doing the artsy life
>living in the moment because fuarrrk the future, right?
It is honeslty ridiculous looking at those guys.
They are completely delusional.
It is funny knowing, that at some point they will realize how much they wasted their life living with that mindset.
At some point their parents will throw them out.
The financial pressures of an [adult] life will overcome.
Knowing that they will fall flat on their face is funny as heck.

I know many acid heads and hippies who live full lives. Your characterization is over-general.
What you're talking about comes from abuse, stupidity, and escapism. I think I made it clear in the OP that I think acid isn't necessarily good in any setting, I don't think it always "opens a third eye", in fact I think that most settings where acid is taken and most of the mythologies surrounding it are pretty terrible. These are very well accepted facts in psyechedelic communities, everyone except the idiots you're talking about knows that acid doesn't automatically enlighten anybody who takes it.
The drug is very versatile and is used by a wide variety of people for a wide variety of purposes. Many scientists, intelligentsia, musicians, etc. use acid semi-regularly, and to great positive effect in their work. Still more people take it for therapeutic or 'spiritual' reasons, also to great positive effect.
Hippies are pretty obnoxious though, I will give you that.

You dont get my point.
Again I've had my fair share of experience with drugs.
Just saying that there is some thing like a higher level of thinking or a third eye enlightenment is fuarrrking pretentious and pathetic.
Many acid heads are looking down on people for not being as "enlightened" as them.
They act as if they know the meaning of life and everyone else is walking through the world blindly without their "third eye open".
>This looking down on people, while at the same time often failing at basic things in life (social situtations/job/family/work ethic/...) is what I am making fun of.
Let me just give you an example:
I've taken a lot of research chemicals that most people havent taken. Now imagine me saying >"Oh wow research chemical A is such a mind opening experience!!! I felt things that noone who hasn't taken this rc will ever feel. You simply can not understand the meaning of life if you haven't taken this rc."

>>"Oh wow research chemical A is such a mind opening experience!!! I felt things that noone who hasn't taken this rc will ever feel. You simply can not understand the meaning of life if you haven't taken this rc."
Yeah, sounds like the kind of thing that a lot of young people think for a while and eventually grow out of(or if they're stupid, believe more and more as time goes on). People latch on to things like religion or ideology or some particular book or movie or music all the time, and youthful ignorance makes them feel like they have it all figured out because they found something that has some meaning to them. This isn't unique to drugs at all.
>I sound like a total jerk, don't I?

>Yeah, thats called a psychosis.
Psychosis is a false belief that cannot be changed with reason. Something you experience is not a belief, comparing them is a category error.
If you've never actually felt like, as Albert Hoffman described it, "Suddenly, the familiar view
of our surroundings is transformed in a strange, delightful, or alarming way: it appears to
us in a new light, takes on a special meaning."
well, I don't think I or anyone else is better than you, but you're definitely not in the majority.
>How old exactly are you, I am guessing somewhere between 18-25, same as me.

I used to legitimately believe that kind of soykaf. Now I don't because I grew up. Most people mature a lot between the ages of 17 and 21.
>Yes, but this is the /drug/ board after all and we are talking about acid. Which is exactly where most of these statements originate from.
I disagree on two counts. 1) we're talking about people who have stupid beliefs about acid and 2) most such statements are caused by religion or ideology. "You cannot be a reasonable individual and disagree with me about <some political topic>" is an extremely common statement in the US.

I've done acid and other psychs a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it, but never felt anything spiritual or transcendental. It's a powerful experience to be sure, one that you can take a lot out of if you let it, and I love finding people in the right headspace to handle a trip. I bought a bunch of tabs and I've been giving it out pretty freely to people I think would enjoy it. Friends going on camping trips, buddies who wanted to try it, and really anyone who would appreciate it. It's been super fun because I get to hear a lot of wacky stories, and it's a healthy dose of political resistance to boot
To anyone looking to sew the seeds of psychs in your local community, be choosy with who you give it to. Not everyone needs it and even fewer will use it well. A tab or two folded in a bit of tinfoil (and cello tape if its in a wet environment) is a great way to hand it off or store it , and hiding it a book with a note can be a great surprise gift.
I wish you luck in your proliferation of magic hippie stamps, be it for rebellion or revelation. Just don't get caught and fuarrrk it up for the rest of us

This. I've dropped acid a few times and done mushrooms and I found myself analyzing things in rational terms, but obsessively and to absurd lengths. I think people who have "spiritual experiences" have a higher tendency to magical thinking in general (not to imply that is a bad thing, but it simply isn't rational).
Case · 2020-02-27 19:48

yup, I don't like a lot of what Nick Sand says (a lot of stuff about "higher levels of consciousness") but I like one thing he wrote, which is that psychedelic drugs are inherently rebellious. They tried to use LSD for mind control, but found that people on LSD were actually *more* difficult to control due to the unpredictability of the drug.
Subservience to authority is a learned behavior, and psychedelics temporarily loosen such learned behaviors, for better or worse.

I think psychedelics are generally safe as fuarrrk and could be highly beneficial to the world.
I don't think acid is really worth spreading though, I've done a fuarrrkload of acid in my younger years and it didn't had that much beneficial effects, it always felt kinda flat and empty to me, perfect party/adventure drug but not much more. I think psilocybin is much more powerful and effective, besides I can grow mushrooms and not worry about it being some stupid NBOMe.
Besides, The duration of an acid trip is waaaay to fuarrrking long for people, after tripping 10hours, it gets tiring fast and a lot of people will be incapable of handling it. 4-6 hour trips are perfect!
Please OP, don't assume everyone is capable of managing their trip, I've been around people doing soykaf straight out of horror movies, maybe it was the trip, maybe it was latent psychosis but tripping can become really dark and in our current culture people are not capable of handling it, I think psychedelics are capable of changing humanity in the best of ways, but most humans are not ready, most peeps do not want to change.

I've had similar experiences and agree with most of it, but disagree with your principle: I don't distribute acid for the immediate good of the individual. A bad trip can still be a good thing, to the individual as a society. Most people come away from an acid trip saying "Yeah that was cool, but I'm not doing that again," and that's exactly the mentality I want to be spread. Try acid once if you really feel like giving it a shot, go on a cool adventure, and then introduce your less adventurous buddies to shrooms. The realization that acid isn't nearly as shocking as the media portrays is often more shocking than the acid itself, and fosters a far deeper mistrust of the government than a good acid trip does.

I myself prefer acid, but I have grown shrooms and I enjoy them quite a lot too. I think it just comes down to personal preference, like what kind of beer you prefer.

I've seen some soykaf too. I tripsit sometimes and the first time I did it, I was tripping with them, and everything really went off the rails. We all came out fine but it was the most stressful night of my life.
It is odd which people are perfectly fine with psychedelics, and which seem to explode from stress and/or become obnoxious fools. Sometimes it's really not the people you would expect. Reflects how much the inner world might not match up with outer presentation.

I've been pretty interested on an off about trying out psychedelics. I think I am pretty well educated just from reading a lot of Erowid and literature on the matter over the years. So far I have only ever smoked pot and cigarettes and had some booze. I am pretty much straight edge and have been sober coming up for 10 years.
Back like in 2014/2015 I developed severe depression and anxiety which had a terrible impact on my life. I more or less have it under control with a healthy life (healthy eating, regular exercise, and getting adequate sleep), but I still feel empty and sad.
I started considering taking psychedelics to see if I could I unfuck my head. I just wish I was social and happy again with a normal fulfilling life. I would not even know where to start... would it be best to take a hallucinogen like LSD or Psilocybin or even an empathogen like MDMA. Apart from the main issue of course of obtaining them, I am too scared of the potential adverse effects such as bad trips, panic attacks, and in the case of MDMA serotonin syndrome or severe depression.
For those of you experienced in these things, what do you think is the best thing to do? What are your personal experiences with psychedelics and how have they impacted your life?

what the larvals in this thread fail to realize is that the psychedelic experience loosens the ego's grip on geocentric survival imprints. for them, the domestication process is the highest certainty, they were traumatized into recreating the certain survival pattern for the others in their hive's gene pools. they are robotically programmed to reject activities occurring which are new.
the danger we have with drug use is that society has not built a stable social base to support the mutants. not everyone must 'get a job', other people choose to become self-actualized. the problem comes in when there is no support-net by the worker drones to help carry the carriers of the next phase's imprint. enjoy servitude to feudal lords and dying under 4000 miles of atmospheric pressure.
