Psychopharmacology & psychiatry

Everyone's probably in agreement that psychoactive compounds can be used to treat various issues to well-being.
I personally however disagree with the current system of DSM-5 and ICD-10 classifications and treatments, I think I should be allowed to classify my own illness and treat it accordingly.
Why is it that we have to pay some government approved bureaucrat and lie to them to get medicine?
I can clearly note in my life issues that I'm having and I know how to solve them, but there is nothing I can do because the state has seized control of all the tools.
I think this current system is idiotic, I've lived in close contact with it for like a decade and I can't stand it when having to discuss whether someone has this illness or not. The point of diagnosis is not to gain knowledge about who you/someone really are/is, the point is always to treat some issue. If someone tries to offer you a diagnosis without treatment then punch them in the face! It's an insult.
If your issue can't be solved one hopes it can at least be alleviated somehow.
I should always hold veto on what issues I have but most importantly I shouldn't have to confine myself to identifying issues as described by some holy(?) books and wait on approval from today's priesthood to treat them.
I don't go to meetings with the psychiatric system's bureaucrats thinking that these people are going to help me anymore, maybe I did that when I was young but I've since learned to fear them. I can't imagine myself having an open discussion with them about medicine. There can't be any honest communication between us as long as they hold too much power.
Maybe if I was rich I could nurture relationships with medical professionals and work together with them to solve my issues, but I'm not so I'm stuck relying on a broken system which gives you no option but to lie to survive.
fuarrrk this system, seriously!
I have spent extensive time researching psychopharmacology both by reading and by experimenting, does that count for nothing in this world? No, I am persecuted for it. I've tumbled down a dark path not because I enjoy the darkness but because I believe in freedom. I used to think the drug problem could be solved by the state, I've lost such hope. I don't know what to hope in anymore.
There has to be a paradigm shift in the field of mental health, maybe there will be but it will be too late for me among so many.

Psychiatrists don't work for everyone, nor are they infallible. They're humans, just like us. But, to make the jump from the system being bad to people should be able to self diagnose is one of obvious ignorance. Do not confuse bias-confirming search engines and websites with an actual medical degree. To make a statement such as that they are as to one of the same would be foolish. Growing up in a family of medical professionals I learned that even my father, a doctor, gets looked over by someone else. The mind is a dubiously tricky place full of biases, placebo and misinterpretations. For someone as educated as a doctor to swallow his own pride and have someone else take care of him is a testament towards how important it is to not be arrogant. To surrender the help of medical professionals (in other words, people who actually know what the fuarrrk they're doing because they went through the proper schooling, as opposed to you) to your own uneducated thought process is dangerous, asinine, arrogant and overall just plain retarded.

I'd be overjoyed to be looked over by someone else, but like I said it's a bit above my pay grade. You're not completely without point, people self-diagnosing is risky and I don't do it lightly, but I've been in the system longer than they train doctors for and what I eventually had to learn is how to lie because doctors naturally look out for themselves more than they do their patients. I admit I am arrogant but you are the ignorant one.
Do you really think this system is composed of trained doctors? Witnessing a doctor is a rare, short and probably expensive event.
Don't compare me to your father, he has clout and I'm a persona non grata of society.

How do doctors look out for themselves?
>Do you really think this system is composed of trained doctors?
Yeah it's called licensing, you can't practice medicine (psychiatric or otherwise) in most countries without a license that is given by the state after you pass an exam. Nurses and other healthcare professionals go through the same sort of process but at varying levels of scrutiny dependent on their position. Healthcare is broken and deserves to be nationalized but it isn't crock full of soykaf.

What do you mean how do doctors look out for themselves? Just like everyone else... It's a job, they're not selfless angels.
And please don't claim that you think the system is composed of trained doctors and then admit that it is not.
Look, I'm sorry if you feel like I'm threatening your family's income source. You'll get by, don't worry. Or why is it that you feel compelled to jump me so aggressively, call me retarded etc? But keep on doing it I guess. Better to be hated than ignored.

the fuarrrk are you talking about. not him but for one saying "uh no duh its a job" isnt an answer. no soykaf everyone looks out for themselves, he wants to know in what circumstance does them looking out for themselves interfere with your health care. Its just a question, stop being defensive.
also I dont see anywhere in his post where he says its not composed of trained professionals. unless your so insane to take the statement that different levels of professionals have different levels of training as meaning that. you sound like a bad case of dunning kruger effect and also willful irrational distrust. Like you want to believe you are this beacon of truth fighting the man just for the sake of it, especially because your targeting doctors at this point. Drug laws, for sure. Certain corrupt pharma figures, yeah. But really therapists and doctors, who's personal well being is dependent on you receiving care you like, is this really the hill you want to die on? Im wondering if a therapist or doctor told you something you didnt want to hear and so you decided your right and everyone is wrong. Im not saying every single person is perfect, im saying your massively over exaggerating.
- t. someone not in medical field at all (design). which is such a stupid childish argument anyways, if you want to accuse people of being sh ills basically to discredit them maybe you should take that back to 4chan.

The current medical field is heavely influenced by major pharma corps.
Doctors are presured by those medical guides to administer drugs which are paid for by insurences who also profit of this togheter with the pharma corps.
Doctors usually dont care much but in many cases they are also brainwashed or incompetent, but also profit of this.
The big issue isnt even the modern treatment of illneses but the fact that most illnes is caused either out of carelesness or on purpose to profit of people nowdays and the people in control of society know that well.

My father's retired. Has been for some time now. He was utterly disgusted by how healthcare came to be in the US.

Completely true. Pharmaceutical companies, as well as any healthcare-related company that provides literally *anything* for doctors/medical practitioners to use, will try to bribe doctors into using their products by giving them free stuff. Taking them out to lunch, giving them small trinkets that are branded with the product's name and company, literally anything. This is the result of capitalizing healthcare. The bribery of medical professionals with useless chinese-made toys. It's disgusting. And it's been going on for some time now, cementing itself into the idea of healthcare, trying to become a sort of acknowledged "necessary evil". The United States is, if anything, a cyberpunk dystopia.

Really makes you think

mental health treatment in most countries is designed to make you an effective worker bee who won't snap and kill people, not to make you a healthy-minded individual.
This is because a healthy mind is practically impossible in modern states. The state, currently, has an absolutely unprecedented amount of control over our everyday life. The state has taken up many roles that were at one point religious in nature(pledges of allegiance == praying, nationalism == holy wars, mental health treatment == going to see your local priest or witch doctor, right and wrong == pornography laws, copyright laws, drug laws, many more besides, money == god) while at the same time expanding police control to be almost total. The USA is not all that much different from the USSR, we just know more about the USSR because we have been taught about how bad it was.
At the same time, it seems practically impossible to transition from this to something remotely less dystopian without a complete societal collapse which would kill almost everyone, and which we are going to get whether we like it or not.
As such, modern life is intolerable for many people. The opiate epidemic is no mystery, it is because alcohol and opiates are the most readily available cure. They dull the pain of living.
Treat your self lain. I have found great success with LSD but not everyone does, there is a path for you and you must find it. Sometimes drugs aren't even helpful.
