Preparing cannabis oil

Hello /drug/, I'm going to make some cannabis infused oil in the next few days. For now, my procedure would be to decarboxyle the weed in a closed jar for about 3 hours at 60/80° celsius. After the decarboxylation is done, I'll put some olive oil in the jar (it should be enough for all the weed) and I'm going to shake it everyday for 28 days while also opening it every 2 days and leaving it with some cheesecloth on it for about an hour. After the 28 days are over, I'm planning to stir all the cannabis that's left in the jar using a cheesecloth and consuming the oil. Is my procedure going to work all fine? Are there any better ways of doing it?

I would just directly cook the weed in the oil and strain it, saving you the trouble of decarbing and it would only take one evening instead of 28 days. But doing it your way would definitely work as well, but dont really see the point of it.

>>3100 >I would just directly cook the weed in the oil and strain it, saving you the trouble of decarbing and it would only take one evening instead of 28 days. Decarbing the weed turns the THCA present in the flower to THC. This now present THC can then be extracted into a fat of some sort (in this case olive oil) and then consumed. By not decarbing your weed you lose potency due to most of the THCA not being converted to THC. Essentially decarbing is needed for edibles stronger than a placebo. >>3099 >Is my procedure going to work all fine? Hypothetically, yes. >Are there any better ways of doing it? I don't really see how it could take that long to extract most or all of the THC from the flower... THC is very fat soluble. Most edible guides online that involve a fat of some sort (butter, coconut oil, etc.) can be applied to olive oil as well, so it wouldn't hurt comparing some to your plan. I don't know what you're planning to make with the oil but just to fair, don't use super expensive olive oil (extra virgin for example) unless you know you're going to be tasting the oil (e.g. eating bread with it, salad dressing, etc.). Using extra virgin olive oil to cook is just a waste.

>>3101 Right, but you can decarb cannabis and infuse it into oil at the same time, say in a double boiler. I think the heat helps with the infusing.

Yeah, it tends to heat up when you put it on a stove and cook the oil like I said.

>>3102 >>3017 No, that's incorrect. You cannot decarb weed while infusing it. It must be decarbed before it is introduced to a fat.
