Does anyone here have any experience running or working with legal certified grow operations? specifically in medical only states
What can you tell me?
What resources exist?
How big a worry is the Federal side of things and what if anything is done to protect places from them right now?
If my waifu has the opportunity/potential to break into a fresh market, could it at all possibly be worth it? or do they make it such a pain that only the Walmarts of the world can cope and/or turn a sustaining profit?

I worked as a laborer at one for a week and a half, 10 years ago. All I can say is they were paranoid enough not to tell me anything and I only got the job because my ex-roommate worked there before and they trusted her. This was a licensed op too (well, mostly... wink wink). This was in a certain county in a certain western state where production (legal and illegal) was the cornerstone of the economy. The sheriff was so lax in enforcing the law against the industry that ultimately paid the bulk of his and his deputies' salaries as well as their department budget that the state formed a coalition police force that was only active part of the year, and they did what the sheriff wouldn't.
They were totally utility independent with solar in the summer and microhydro in the winter. I didn't see the latter in use; the creek is bone dry in the summer and the sky too grey in the winter for solar so it worked out year round.
The girl who gave me the reference said not to wander around in the woods alone in an area I didn't know very well because if I strayed onto someone else's property I could expect to get shot. Large criminal syndicates have their hands in the legal and illegal grow ops.
I was desperate for cash and these guys gave me $18/hour for total goon labor mostly involving a shovel. This wasn't harvest time. I was the lowest paid at that. Also they gave me anything I asked for in the way of safety equipment or that kind of thing, let me retire for the day at any hour. Easily the best bosses I ever had before or since.
Also, a giant bag of weed on the kitchen table which I was told to partake of before it got old and wound up in the compost if you can believe that. I don't even smoke but I did there, a giant f.cking joint all to myself every night before bed.
