Safe to drop again (mild HPPD)?
Fred Nurk · 2018-09-17 02:35
I did 375ugs of acid and smoked a bowl a few weeks ago, and the residual visual effects have reached their plateau and have not subsided since.
They are extremely mild and don't really inhibit daily life and smoking weed and alcohol doesn't make them worse. For example, sometimes the floor moves a little or light kind of flashes through slits (if that makes any sense).
Would it be safe for me to drop 80-100 ugs in the next couple of days, or will it worsen my symptoms at all? I'm not all too familiar with acid and google isn't helping. I'd hate to not be able to drop again but i'd also hate to have debilitating HPPD.
That do you lainons think?

Yeah, that seems extremely mild. I would definitely say it's safe to go ahead and drop again. Have fun and be safe.

I'd say it's a 50/50 shot. Though I'd say try not to combine weed with hallucinogens though, weed seems to potentiate HPPD in sustainable individuals especially in combination. I used 300+ ug of LSD before with no ill effects, but with a tiny bit of weed it gave me moderate HPPD, can't see soykaf anymore.

It was probably the weed that did it for me. My dumbass friend made me smoke while I was having ego death lol.
Knowing this, do you think just doing a small dose of lsd will worsen my symptoms? I've heard stories on both ends.

My gut feeling would be that just LSD as long as it isn't a large dose probably would be fine, and you could always take a really low borderline dose just to see if you notice any changes before going all in. But that's not based on anything concrete. I'm not all that experienced with this stuff myself, so you probably shouldn't trust my advice for potentially important decisions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Imo you should take a few months off. I picked up moderate HPPD (constant texture shifting and sliding, mild aura, etc, annoying but not debilitating) a few years ago after taking various tryptamines way too frequently.
Took a year or so away from anything visually active and I recovered ~90-95% and can take psychs again very rarely (once or twice a year) with no ill effects.

I'm probably going to wait a few months then. I dropped in july and the visuals are getting better. Lifting and fish oil has really helped with them, as well as playing video games believe it or not.
Thanks for advice, friends

most people have really mild visual artifacts for months or even years after using psychedelics. As long as it doesn't make normal functioning difficult there's no reason to be concerned. I actually like it, makes everyday life a little more entertaining.
Watch out for full flashbacks though. They do happen(usually after smoking weed, for me).

I think its fine. HPPD is something I always get and have just with patterning and slight movement if i space out. It's never really gotten more intense nor less from very long breaks or repeated use. If anything its entertaining and I just see it as me seeing the world slightly differently not hallucinating necessarily which I consider to be seeing things as they arent. If I had corner of the eye visuals for example i'd start to be worried, but like I wouldnt be surprised if there is people born with amped up pattern recognition and they just never question it and no one knows because it doesnt present itself as a problem ever.
Sometimes I do worry about the implications. As in if im now permanently seeing things just slightly more patterned what does that mean about my thinking? It probably means my thinking is just different not better or worse but I wouldnt ever know because its something very deeply ingrained if it changes my vision.

OP here.
From my research on the condition I don't think HPPD really impacts cognition beyond motion recognition. So far I've been able to do math with relative ease and my memory has actually improved slightly since the dose.

For starters, cannabis usage greatly affects hppd from my experience. If I'm smoking cannabis regularly, it feels like I have hppd and sometimes see slight patterns and soykaf, otherwise it doesn't. But I get visual noise and all that soykaf, all the time, and see the white dots if I look at a blue sky, perhaps see wobbling like you mention but i never really notice it, even without cannabis, etc. For the record I've tripped over 50 times and I think it would take serious effort to get hppd worse than i've got it. But hey, your vision is actually soykaf and your brain does a ton of work presenting it to you cleanly, and no case of hppd has ever led to your brain not filling in your literal blind spot. I'm happy to let my consciousness take over a bit of the work my subconsciousness was doing before. If you think getting hppd would be debilitating, you probably shouldn't be tripping, but if your mindset towards it is more neutral don't let it stop you.
And cognition is no way in hell affected in a negative sense, at least in my experience double majoring in two STEM fields. You can and should search for a metastudy I read talking about the affects of psychedelic usage on personality, because I found the study insightful into the long term effects of psychedelics and I found it worthwhile to continue using them after reading the meta study.

I'd like to give an update to everyone in case anyone is interested.
I tripped twice since then, once at 150 ugs and once at 175 ugs. The HPPD has faded completely and my brain chemistry is back to normal for the most part... with the exception of my music taste being a little different.
