stigma

Yuki Nagato · 2018-06-03 22:37
this is sort of /hum/ as well but I'll post here So I was at a house party and someone walked in on me smoking crack in the toilet, now nobody wants anything to do with me. Bearing in mind that these are people who have no qualms shoveling coke or ket up their nose or popping pills whatever; why is it such a big deal? It's not like I'm an addict or a fiend. I just enjoy the buzz of hitting rocks, I'm still the same person I was before they found out.
Tyrell Wellick · 2018-06-03 23:24
Bad people OP. Even if you have a problem leaving you is just gonna make it worse. As someone who does coke but doesnt smoke crack i can say the reason for me is coke has faster effect time thus is more addictive mentally. However ultimately, the stigma came as a way for the government to arrest certain types of people (people who were poor and thus crack was an option while cocaine wasnt), while letting others off the hook. Its a whole fuarrrked up deal. You can get arrested with less crack on you then cocaine, even though without the cocaine there would be no crack.
SHODAN · 2018-06-03 23:25
>>1837 sorry *crack has a faster effect time
Tequila · 2018-06-04 08:09
crack is considered "poor". Those people are classist fuarrrks. That being said it's also of much more questionable chemical purity. I wouldn't do it.
Cypher · 2018-06-09 01:43
Crack is dirty as hell bro
XERXES · 2018-06-09 14:09
>>1839 This is a valid point but I wouldn't want someone smoking it in my house either, that's nasty. Doing lines doesn't pollute anything but your own body.
Demeere · 2018-06-09 17:43
>>1836 You better drop that pipe, anon. Crack isn't seen as a party drug in any social circles and never is going to become one. Stop doing it this soykaf otherwise it's going to ruin you. I don't think this board is even meant for discussing such kind of drugs.
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2018-06-09 18:01
Continuing... Also the behaviour of your so called friends isn't normal at all. Such reckless use of untested drugs may result in a quick death due to liver damage or hypothermia. Ironically crack may be actually safer to use compared downing pills with coke.
Donna Hawthorne · 2018-06-09 23:52
>>1901 The whole point of OP was that people are shallow for having an arbitrary hierarchy of socially acceptable drugs so just parrotting that line is not really helpful. Next, please give us a list of which drugs this board was designed for? I didn't see that in the rules.
Hagbard Celine · 2018-06-10 06:39
>>1901 >I don't think this board is even meant for discussing such kind of drugs. not trying to be a prick, but fuarrrk off with your elitist opinions >>1836 smoking crack at a party is wack treating a friend like soykaf over it for more than a day is much worse get new friends and quit smoking crack in semi-public places. stigma is like kicking dead whales down the beach but that won't stop it from existing.
fsociety · 2018-06-10 08:54
>>1905 I'm very aware of that problem. But it's a fact that you can't change social opinions about such kinds of drugs. If someone I knew would find out that I was secretly smoking crack. I would be send to a rehab ASAP. >...can you give my a list of... No, but I think the sticky clearly implies that this board is meant for safe drug use.
Agent Jones · 2018-06-10 17:19
>>1907 >safe ingestion of black-market substances there is no "safe", just degrees of certainty (e.g. test your soykaf). also, the number of x-amphetamine/opiate/etc generals seems to disagree with you
Delilah · 2018-06-10 19:00
I dont know much about crack, but if you go to a toilet in someones house and do drugs in there, thats not a sign of good behavior.
Joe Bloggs · 2018-06-10 19:18
>>1907 > I would be send to a rehab ASAP. What kind of police state do you live in where your "friends" can get you sent to rehab that easily?
Incognito · 2018-06-10 19:43
Hard lesson OP, but don't turn it into an epic fail. You just learned who and what a real friend is. Stop smoking stepped on coke, don't buy anything from thieves and live a sober life. Good luck!
H.R. Giger · 2018-06-10 19:54
I think the real issue here is IT'S PUFF, PUFF, PASS. Bogarting any kind of drug at a party is a dick move.
Mitnick · 2018-06-10 20:01
>>1917 Yes he should have shared his rocks with the group like a good citizen. I bet OP is some kind of selfish Ayn Rand fanatic.
Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2018-06-10 21:53
OP possibly unknowingly created the environment for others to look down upon them. Subconsciously feeling the need to hide away in the bathroom to smoke whatever you want to use is going to make people feel as though you feel ashamed of it. This in turn plays a part on how they look at the scenario. Take for instance two individuals. Regular people, no addictions. One drinks a beer while hanging out with their friends. The other, feels the need to take a beer and drink it away from everyone else. People will begin to wonder why exactly that person feels they are only secure drinking alone. Do they have a problem? It raises questions, and humans wanting to have an answer for things will create their own solutions to a problem themselves if not provided the answer. The real question is, why do you feel like you have to hide your drug use from everyone else? If you yourself feel shame for doing it, you must ask yourself why.
The Fin · 2018-06-13 15:28
>>1920 Real soykaf actually I didnt even think about this. However maybe even his friends are the type to go into another room to do their coke. So maybe he didnt create the environment and is doing what those around do.
Arisu Mizuki · 2018-06-13 15:40
>>1942 People do coke in private because it's expensive and they don't want to share.
Delilah · 2018-06-13 18:19
>>1943 I guess? Thats not really what ive seen, my friends usually invite me or someone else with them. Or we all just go into a different room. Its usually about not being around people who just smoke weed/drink and nothing else.
Koichiro · 2018-06-13 19:45
>>1946 For some people it's a matter of elitism, like having a short-lived VIP room. Also it's not something everyone wants the whole world to know they're doing; one hundred times the worry nowadays since anyone can snap you on their phone and post it instantly. Come Monday and either you're out of a job or your mom knows.
Y.T · 2018-06-13 23:08
>>1943 partly that, partly because honestly people on coke can be obnoxious and it's rude to be obnoxious right in front of other people.
thebowser · 2018-12-11 19:52
>>1920 That's actually a fairly solid point. OP, if you're still looking at this thread and having the same issue, consider how did the whole scene look like to your friends. I think it'd be enough to talk this whole thing out, and let it go. If they're good friends, they wouldn't hold on the bad impression. If you talked to your friends casually about the whole situation and they still treat you like an odd junkie, maybe it's actually better to give up on them.
Nameless · 2018-12-11 20:07
>smokes crack in someones bathroom without permission >MUH STIGMA
Unknown · 2018-12-12 07:08
>>3093 you didnt say anything here. if he was doing a line in the bathroom no one woulda cared.
Spooky · 2018-12-25 22:48
>>3097 what do you mean? Sometimes i go outside, last time i was in student club (close to polytechnique) at the death metal concert and bouncer was searching everyone pockets in search of drugs
Spoiled Omen · 2018-12-27 12:17
>>1899 All the various drug users in my area make jokes about smoking crack because it's the bottom of the barrel OP
