Using meth for productivity
Hong, Guil Dong · 2025-04-21 19:29
Does anyone here have experience with using meth for productivity and focus? Unfortunately my doctor thinks I have depression and not ADHD, and in Canada it's literally impossible to get a psychiatrist unless you are schizo, so I'm thinking I could order some meth and take like 10mg to sort of simulate Adderall. Has anyone here done this and did it help?
Anonymous · 2025-04-21 19:39
I can't speak from direct experience, but a roommate of mine did this a few years ago over the span of a summer. I do think it helped his productivity in the short term, but after a few months it made him very aggressive. I know he didn't sleep much either. Meth use is probably not sustainable, even in small amounts.

>stimulants for productivity
this only works if you actually have ADHD (or so im told), i was misdiagnosed with adhd instead of autism and given stimulants and amphetamines that i later began abusing for a couple years and they never really made me productive in the traditional sense, i would always just work on weird esoteric schizo personal projects and play games and masturbate all while simoultaneously ranting at 5,000 words per minute about GMT platforms or some other sperg bullshit, but obviously, see picrel

Don't do it. I know a guy who spends his days hanging around a park cracked out and never recovered from his meth addiction since he told me he could quit at any time. There are alternatives, and you have to already be productive to reap any benefits from stimulants in general. The smartest and most reliable engineer I know doesn't drink coffee at all, but instead plans his entire day ahead.

Alpha brain is legal and actually works for focus and productivity. I don't use it ATM, but I do use kratom in smol amoonts, it boosts productivity, though if you take too much it kinda fuarrrks your thought process and you just feel like laying there and doing nothing. Could be good if you can handle only taking smol amoonts. Id recommend alpha brain over kratom though. There is always coffee too, caffeine can give you hyper focus. Bang/reign energy drinks are bready gud for long spurts of focus too. Good ol coq10 and creatine are nice, again... Too much is too much. Discipline is needed with all of these.

I have broad health and neurological conditions that often cause some pretty severe ADHD-like symptoms, to the point where I'll be unable to complete sentences & thoughts or remember what I was doing 2 minutes before, rendering me basically useless.
It took years of experimentation but I finally figured out a routine to manage this:
>Intermittent light exercise all throughout the day, reminiscent of Pavel tsatouline's 'Grease the Groove'. These are very short workouts, preferably strength workouts. I'll do a set of one-armed pushups, pistol squats, pull-ups or a high-rep set of regular push pushups once an hour or more. This stimulates production of dopamine and other neurochemicals, it's surprisingly effective, and surprisingly mood-boosting, it's also not hard to do, just do it whenever you want a quick attention boost.
>Vestibular/proprioceptive (balance/orientation) activation once or twice a day. While unintuitive, there's a huge correlation between this and attention. Astronauts do vestibular exercises to help maintain their focus in a cramped environment. Yoga works, physical labor can work, but there are also easier head rotation exercises you can look up that work well. (Generally only takes 2-4 minutes)
>Visual stimulation. This is actually really important. Scene construction (scene construction = your brain automatically builds a mental model of your surroundings) and spatial navigation are strongly linked to attention. It's actually critical for attention regulation for everyone. If you take a neurologically normal person and lock them in a cramped environment (jail, room) they will develop ADHD-like symptoms. Once a day I try to get outside and take a walk/jog/etc (most effective in a natural off-trail environment as that demands more navigation and spatial awareness than walking down the street). Also works better if it's unfamiliar, not a place you've been many times. You can also play an explorative first person 3D game, especially a visually stimulating one (skyrim, modded minecraft, etc - totally acceptable alternative, especially if you live in a monotonous suburb.)
>Only consuming long-form content (books, dramas, longer educational videos/documentaries), avoiding short-form content.
>4 cups of coffee per day. Black coffee is preferable as there are phytonutrients in the coffee which modulate the effect of the caffeine, and these phytonutrients bind to milk proteins rendering them useless.
Meth may actually make your attention worse in the long run by downregulating D2 receptors. I wouldn't recommend it.

We should make you ambassador on that soykaf here for such a based take. Tbqh I believe stimulants work for some people, but only because I've seen at least two, but most of us we just get fuarrrked to oblivion on it in the long term and sometimes even medium and short terms.

I agree with this user, but I'd use loose green tea. Just doing exercise, sleeping well and visual stim is probably enough though.
I have ADHD and I got away with it using copious amounts of weed and coffee/tea. Stopped once I actually got a job and couldn't show up high af.
During uni I messed around with modafinil/Adderall/Concerta and they worked but they had caveats.
>Modafinil worked great until it didnt (got aggressive and hair trigger temper, could sit down and study for hours though).
>Adderall felt way too fast, probably did way too high of a dose but it was not for me, made me anxious and sent me down Wikipedia rabbit holes and the addiction potential was not appealing
>Concerta worked the best but did too high of a dose and it wasn't easy to get at the time, still potential for abuse but after I got enough money to go to a psych I got a recipe and it's helped a lot but it's definitely not a wonder drug (close though).
Then again take this with a grain of salt since I was the only one of my group of friends that would actually sit down and do HW/study after smoking a metric ton of weed (probably ADHD/Coffee/Sports).

You could try a P21 nasal spray for your autism, or ideally the injectable form

What ends up happening with all stims is you become dependent on them. If you do them everyday you go nuts. If you try spreading it out you end up only being productive on the stim days and your total output likely ends up being lower than it otherwise would be. In the summer of '22 I was working on a VR game and thought I could cheatcode it with adderall but ended up only really doing serious work like 2 days a week and on the off days I was just lazily reading documentation and recovering from the day before, my sleep schedule all fugged up. I think it can cause depression too. My advice is to stay away, listen to the anon who gave tips on how to stay productive like exercising during the day, serious planning ahead etc.
My interpretation of the movie the substance wasn't about women turning into plastic surgery lizards but it was about taking stims and turning into 2 people. Eventually the stim version of you is going to say fuarrrk it why not take more? Sooner or later they'll start eating away at you.

Over half the meth is laced with fent now. If you get any make 100% sure to fent test it. Was sent some recently (had never tried it before and was given an unrequested sample with another order) and tested it and it came up positive so even though it looked really good I had to flush it. Nothing is worth a fent relapse.

Are you me? I tried most of what you tried and came to mostly the same conclusions. LSD microdosing also "worked great until it didn't".
Except then I also tried (microdosing) cocaine and it honestly felt like the missing piece of the puzzle. Only downsides are the stupidly short duration, the obligatory sleepiness once it wears off, and, of course, the legality and social stigma.

eyyy
I did "microdoses" (low doses really) of L and it worked awesome the issue was the duration and I would usually get lost?
So I could read a book cover to cover, or study something new but if it was just busywork or way to complex it wouldn't help.
>Tripping balls with normal people was also a huge pain
Tried coca leaves because processed cocaine scares me and it just felt like a lot of coffee/energy drink jitter without actually being able to concentrate, great for hikes though.
Ironically I like moddafinil for partying.

Terrible idea, impossible to regulate the dosage and strength of the stimulant if you're sourcing it illegally. Even within a single batch/buy there would likely be variations so 10mg of the illegal meth would give you an inconsistent dose every time.

Blatantly false. It's expensive but doable using reagent kits and if you want to get fancy TLC.

I think microdosing has to be primarily placebo. There is a threshold dose of lsd which is like 75ug or something which it doesn't have any effects under.

>threshold dose of lsd which is like 75ug
No. 50ug is a mild sociable trip, good for when you want something to keep your brain entertained while still being able to function. Even at 25ug you'll almost certainly feel something; I upped my microdose once to what couldn't have been more than 18-20ug and I felt an intense come up for a good 10 minutes. My usual microdoses were ~10ug and the effects were inconsistent and subtle, but I could feel them most of the time (doing it more than twice a week felt pointless). Definitely a mild coffee/energy drink type stimulant effect, subtle visual stuff like increased contrast and/or colour saturation, subtle thoughts/emotions similar to Shivers in Disco Elysium, if that means anything to you. Placebo helps, but only if I'm feeling at least some kind of genuine tingle to begin with.

Your coca leaf experience sounds like my adderall experience. Coke doesn't feel like that at all to me.
>processed cocaine scares me
Find a quality vendor and go tiny. It really gets that reward circuit going and you start associating "getting things done" with feeling good about yourself, which is what motivation is about, at the end of the day. It made Modafinil obsolete to me - fuarrrks you up for like 12 hours, the tunnel vision / brain fog gets in the way of thinking, the rushes of euphoria can feel a bit too intense / annoying / anxiety inducing. Coke has none of that (provided you don't overindulge). Smooth, controlled and very pleasant. Yes, it might make you feel overly confident, but I'll take overly confident over making no progress in life due to a naturally low confidence.

I have been doing this for about one year now, and it's been pretty successful. I limit use to once every 72 hours, and usually around 15-20 mg max.
Its biggest benefit is mental endurance. Intelligence doesn't increase, but endurance does. 12+ hours of work feels very very easy on meth. It also boosts confidence and makes everything feel easier, so tasks which usually would seem out of reach or "not worth it" become much more attainable.
The best part about it is that it's an extremely effective way of snapping out of periods of lethargy or laziness. You don't need to keep doing it every day--just doing it once gets the ball rolling and gives you the momentum and confidence to keep moving forward when you otherwise would've struggled to overcome mental inertia.
Would recommend

dont do meth. i have wound up with Adderall cut with meth in the past (the sf bay area is filled with it) and hate the way it feels, though fortunately it's been a long time and I only had to deal with it once or twice anyway. then again I am sensitive to all stimulants, I don't even drink coffee or anything like that.
ppl who describe amphetamines and meth as basically equivalent are delusional, while I don't use either (I prefer a very low dosage of the methylphenidates but don't take anything at the moment), the difference between Adderall and meth is like the difference between a bare halogen lightbulb and a laser pointer. the hangover meth gives u make it highly not worth either.
Chani · 2025-05-22 09:26
short term it works great long term your brain is smarter than you. meth makes you more "productive" because it makes whatever you are doing seem very interesting and fun. I think theres a misconception that it just gives you this well spring of energy you can draw from, what it does is just make whatever you are doing in that moment incredibly rewarding. An inherent downside even in early use is that being actually productive requires you switch tasks, you finished cleaning now its time to answer some emails for example. Meth makes it so you do not want to switch tasks it will be irritating to do so because your brain is very content and happy and engaged with what you were doing and doesnt want to do something else and let go of all of that. This is why you end up with the stereotype of meth head "fixing" car all day and slowly just breaking it even worse because they keep messing with soykaf. This leads to a situation where to be productive on meth requires the same skills to be productive sober, IE being able to ignore what sounds fun or what you want to do to do what needs to get done. Only on meth that will eventually be a lot harder with long term use.
It basically will end up just shifting your productivity problems to be different productivity problems. So some people can be "more productive" on meth for sure but they end up suffering just as much (or more) than you to do so. Also it will make your depression significantly worse in the long run, and when you are not on meth you are going to kick yourself for ever thinking you "werent productive" before because your gonna see what it really looks like to have 0 interest in doing anything. The problems you need to solve right now to be more productive are significantly easier problems than the ones you will need to solve post meth (and some will only solve with time and sometimes thats years). Of course I guess one benefit of meth is it puts that into perspective.

My gf has diagnosed ADHD and I have diagnosed autism/paranoid schizo/ASPD and we smoked meth 2 years ago because we were on grand tour of all hard substances
We bought our from dark web, was as a "eh I have some money left on my crypto wallet, let me buy 30 bucks worth of meth"
ended up smoking meth with her for 5 days
she was chill the whole time and I was mad tweaker that wanted to lift the whole world and go on to fight the cops, got mad paranoia and lack of energy due to not sleeping or eating
was fun, would never do it again tho
okay maybe once when I am like 70

What if it is a large task that cant be done in a day where not switching wont matter?
Meddler · 2025-05-23 11:48
>>18275
Thats an ideal meth task however most large tasks that cant be done in a day benefit from stepping away, thinking about something else, and coming back to it. A surprising amount of work happens under the hood when you do that, and it probably wont with meth. I specifically recall designing posters and sitting there moving text around for hours and hours not really getting any better of a composition than i started with while on it. You can often sort of hone in on these small details while on it and spend far more time than would be effective while spending less time than you should on th3 larger things. Sitting there cleaning out a toaster oven before you have even wiped down all of the counters.
It seems counterintuitive like im implying god itself designed amphetamines to be perfectly balanced in proe and cons, surely a drug could just make you more productive period, but that is my experience. I think there is a bias when some say it makes them more productive where they simply feel more productive because they are working longer, however actual productivity is benefitted by the fact that sober we want to work on the biggest noticeable tasks first and save small details for after. Sober producticity is also benefitted that we have an internal sense that a certain task shouldnt take too long and if it does we try to find a shortcut to do it quicker so that the time spent matches what we get from it. This maybe also leads to procrastination, where it doesnt seem rewarding enough to finish something until its causing us significant stress and meth can solve that for you, but again it loses out with the other two things I mentioned.
In my humble experience you are most productive sober even if you feel more productive not sober, and many nations realize this and its part of the very reason these sorts of things are derezzed. The next time you see a tweaker keep in mind that they think they are doing the most right now and also doing some very important soykaf, and contrast that with how it actually looks to you (them spinning in circles). You obviously wont be that bad since you arent a regular user, but in small ways you will be. The best I can say is that it can be used to get yourself to do something you might otherwise procrastinate, but the quality of your work and the amount of time it takes you will suffer.

if cocaine helps you this much, you should consider a low-dose (2.5-5mg) prescription of methylphenidate (ritalin), dexmethylphenidate, or 4f-mph. the reason being that these are catecholamine reuptake inhibitors that affect dopamine and norepinephrine, whereas cocaine is a serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. from my subjective experiences the effects are quite similar, though cocaine has more euphoria and less focus.
