Tobacco Thread

Thread to ask about and discuss tobacco products. Hookah, Cigarettes, Cigars, Rolled, Pipe, and etc. Recommendations, tastes, and others. I personally want to know what tobacco do lainions smoke, in what shape and form, for what reasons specifically like that. I personally only ever smoke Cigars and rolled ciggies, the latter being a rarer choice. Like myself a H.Upmann n.1, or a Romeo and Julieta Churchill's. At the moment I am searching for a good way to see Chinese cigs in my hands. Can give some recommendations in terms of cigars, but don't consider me a connoisseur.
Naomi Nascimento · 2024-09-01 21:28
I just ordered a pouch of additive free baccy from a online tobacconist and it's nice but just doesn't smoke too well as it did first day became a bit moist. Only smoked Henri wintermans cigars and they were not bad. Good with coffee or a stiff drink. I've yet to try pouches and hear the Norwegian stuff is the bomb.
Shogun · 2024-09-02 07:09
>>16067 I personally don't get pouches, it is nicotine for the sake of nicotine. Not to hate of course, each one for their own thing. For the thing with the pouch of tobacco, i recommend you to get yourself a small humidor where you can control the climate. Getting a normal quality one on ebay is the easiest.

I've been using nasal snuff daily for a few months now and it's very pleasant. The nicotine rush is still there but I don't have to fuarrrk up my lungs. Other than that I smoke pipes and cigars every once in a while.

>>16073 I should try making the change once and for all. I love nicotine but hate what cigarettes do to my lungs.

>>16065 Every once in a while I will treat myself to a cigar. I usually go for more milder cigars, but I'm sure with time I'll gravitate more towards the stronger ones. I don't consume nicotine at all so when I do have my cigar I tend to get this feeling that I'm the soykaf/a King. Ngl it makes me really wonder if I consumed nicotine daily I would have that feeling all the time. Maybe I can be like Ulysses S. Grant and just chainsmoke cigars all day. I use a cigar punch and have found that I like it a lot more than using a regular cutter. I haven't used a 'V' cutter, but I am definitely curious. I haven't smoked a cigarette in over a year. I do miss having one with a Modelo(I would get that same feeling of being empowered). I was never a daily smoker I would really only smoke for special occasions or if I had a really rough day. I haven't tried snuss or snuff. I do on trying Zyns and I hope they'll give me that feeling I'm searching for.

>>16076 I tried Zyn's for a while but it was just too much nicotine. My tolerance built insanely fast and I started to get heart palpitations and my resting HR was much faster than normal. I've never had that problem with any other form of nicotine.
Motoko Kusanagi · 2024-09-04 10:36
>>16076 smoking cigars everyday is pretty damn expensive if you are smoking decent ones. Or you gotta find some deals to get everything going. I still do not get zyns at all, are they just snus? What is the geniune appeal with them, they seem to be so chemmy I can't stop and wonder if they even outweigh smoking cigarettes. Maybe I am wrong though. The snus mania as I have discussed with several anons on other places mainly began trough Russia/East Europe before covid(2017?). It seems strange to me that only now it got to US. Maybe my vision of everything is just wrong. Would love to hear about lainons who tried zins. What is even like?

>>16086 but won't i have to cure it in a special way? if one had a garage or even a shed to dry it out it would work out i think as that would cure it without the air being too dry. if you dried fresh leaves in your house it would be a harsh smoke right? due to the air quality being too dry from what i read.

Roll my own with Golden Virginia, swan extra slim filters and papers. For cigars my choices are R&J Petite Coronas, Fonseca KDT Cadetes, Partagas Petit Coronas and Punch Petit Coronations. I went through a whole lot of sample packs to finally get to the brands and size I like. Problem with cigars is they're so fuarrrking expensive now I haven't had any since the coof kicked off. Two of my humidor boxes are now just fancy looking storage boxes.

>>16076 This is me btw I forgot how great cigarettes are for "sobering up". I had a six pack of Sapporo and went for a walk(not quite stumbling, but definitely going at a different/irregular pace), sat down in the woods and smoked a few cigs and felt better(ego blew up. I feel like im the soykaf), and walked home. God bless nicotine. Pic related is what I smoked(the hipster deluxe)

>>16130 American spirits are alright but I still don't know what the different colors do. I don't really notice the difference in "strengths" much. But I do prefer cigarettes without additives. Not because I believe it's somehow healthier but I don't like my smoking experience to be diluted by bullshit vanilla or menthol aromas. Sometimes having cigarillos, what's your opinion on that? But sometimes they're out and I buy pic related. I'm a roll at home, and a pack ready to smoke on the road kinda guy.
Linda Lee · 2024-09-25 19:44
>>16202 The only experience I have with cigarillos are the complete opposite being additive free. Grape swisher sweets were my go to when I was in High School for rolling blunts. I even had a little side business where I would buy swishers for kids under 18 for a small premium(usually just make a dollar off of every pack sold). I did try smoking a grape swisher by itself and was absolutely disgusted with it(the artificial grape flavor I was used to somehow). I haven't rolled a blunt with one since. I do romanticize the idea of being "The Man with no Name" and smoke nice cigarillos while roaming the Western US.

I'm about 3 minutes in and pretty lightheaded lol. Also, my mouth is salivating like crazy. The "cool mint" has a much shapper mint than expected. If you've ever had the misfortune of tasting peppermint extract by itself its like that, but just in one area of my upper gum. I think after I go through the pack I bought I'll try a lower mg and a different flavor like cinnamon(love the burn from cinnamon) or the coffee one(I am a coffee snob so there is a good chance I'll hate its fake flavor).

John Titor · 2024-10-23 19:07
>>16392 That is how "light" cigarettes work. If you don't want ventilated cigarettes then buy the full flavor ones. For the rough equivalent of a Marlboro Red you want the light blue. Other blue shades are also full flavor, by which I mean full body. But nobody actually calls it that except advertisers. American Spirits are kind of gay though, so harsh, so edgy. Look for Nat Shermans or try Benson & Hedges or something. Might have to ask as they're often tucked behind something.

RYO/pipe. Really enjoy making my own blends, which has turned into a tobacco-variant hoarding problem. Formula for a cigarette that matches Western palates (i.e. I get compliments when I bum them to people, and requests from friends): - A tobacco with a strong nic hit, and a strong taste from the fermenting/curing process. -Smaller portion of an artificially flavored Cavendish that matches it. -Enough of a mild, bland base to keep it from being overpowering. For example, Perique-Vanilla Cavendish-Virginia, or Turkish-Cherry Cavendish-Virginia.

>>16065 Usually just smoke/roll Golden Virginia, but I don't buy cigarettes unless I'm going out on a Friday night. Normally just stick to a vape to keep the nicotine cravings satisfied but there's something very enjoyable about smoking with friends when drinking that the vape doesn't quite satisfy.
Trinity · 2024-12-06 09:32
>>16645 Long-time pipe smoker here. If you're having trouble with your pipe, might I suggest the technique I was taught? It's called the Child-Mother-Father method. In short, you fill up your bowl, gently pack it down, then fill it again. Pack it in slightly harder. Fill it one more time, with a teensy sprinkling of tobacco back on top, then press it in somewhat firmly. The idea is that you're using varying degrees of pressure to pack the bowl, until you've gotten the density juuust right. I also recommend you do your false light, where you light the top of the tobacco, and let it go out before lighting it properly. When you smoke a pipe, be sure to "sip" on it. Just make sure you don't smoke too hard or too fast, or you'll get the burley bite. >>16652 Not the Anon you're responding to, but I live to see these kinds of posts. You'll soon realise that the more you smoke this way, you get a type of empowerment and satisfaction you can't have with most cigarettes and that you seldom find with cigars.

>>16660 nope same guy, i just talk to myself. I appreciate this reply and your advice. i made a little mistake of not buying a tampering tool but its arriving soon. i did however try it a few more times and i think i may of had an even better smoke except one thing, i roasted the tobacco like crazy as i was already three sheets to the wind but it was still better than me lighting up a roll up for the hundredth time. im going to try another tobacco as i was smoking a cherry one, any kind in particular you would suggest?
Just another Random Lainon · 2024-12-07 05:35
>>16662 You don't necessarily need a tamping tool, but having a Czech tool or a pipe nail is a great addition to any proper kit. I can give suggestions about loadouts too, as I'm due to replace my old pipe case once my Stanwell arrives. You should avoid cherrying the tobacco too too much. After your false light (which equalises the moisture of the tobacco in your bowl,) just lay on the flame a little bit and puff moderately. Again, not too fast or too hard, lest you get the dreaded gurgle or a hot, wet smoke. Don't be discouraged if you don't get it on your first few tries. The ideal is a cool, dry smoke that you slowly sip into your mouth, not unlike carefully drinking from a glass of wine. Don't be afraid to relight your bowl either, as your pipe can go out every so often. As for tobacco, keep in mind that there are several kinds of generalised blends: non-aromatic, aromatic and English. Old timers have written me that if they could do it again, they'd smoke nothing but non-aromatic out of corncob pipes. For this kind you'll find typical "drug store" brands like Sir Walter Raleigh, Prince Albert or Half and Half. These pouches are cheap, have enough for more than a few bowls and aren't overpowering. Prince Albert is my favourite of these three, and I knew of farmers who'd smoke nothing but cans and cans of the stuff. Granted, you'll find much better wares in tins, however my tastes are more at aromatic and English blends. Your aromatics are like the classic cherry and vanilla. These are what you smoke in company, as they are often sweet, fruity or otherwise reminiscent of delicious scents and tastes alike. I'm very fond of Eileen's Dream, a signature blend by CAO which purveys sweet notes of Irish cream. By far one of my go-to blends. English is my other specialty, and for this I have nothing but praise for the old Dunhill blends (now owned by Peterson of Ireland.) Early Morning Pipe, despite its name, can be smoked all day. It's light, airy, rich with sweet, sweet Virginias and even better, can be cellared away so it blends and amasses flavour over the year(s.) Otherwise, cheaper Peter Stokkebye blends of this stripe are nice, but err on the side of caution. Acquire blends with light lingering odour (also known as a room note) and something that isn't completely suffused with latakia (so-called lat bombs.) Once you've rounded out your palate by experimenting, you can start on the more bold and sharp English blends. As of now, I've Peterson Nightcap, Early Morning Pipe, Royal Yacht, Eileen's Dream, some generic English Oriental and classic black Cavendish on hand. I'm beyond happy I get to share this hobby with others. Ask me any questions and I'll be sure to answer. >>16384 Before I forget, some pointers I picked up: for oral care, make sure you drink some water during or after your smoke. Carbonated beverages and alcohol are discouraged as they might irritate the tissues on your tongue moreso. Keeping your mouth properly lubricated deters rogue proliferation of bacteria. Furthermore, have you ever seen the little sample-sized bottles of mouthwash in stores? Those were originally marketed towards pipe smokers, as we'd use them to freshen up after a bowl or two. If you don't want to pack a travel tootbrush and paste, there are disposable micro-toothbrushes on the market with pearls of foaming cleanser embedded into the brush itself. Don't forget the classic smoking jacket, either. You could go fancy with a suede getup, but really any kind of jacket, hoodie or coat will do wonders in absorbing errant puffs of smoke. Make sure you wash it periodically so acrid odours do not accumulate. Consider deodourisers: I'm fond of alcohol-based solutions like ZORBX, which can be used to diffuse the smell of smoke. The company claims this spray is hypoallergenic, so you can spray it directly onto your clothes if need be. Additionally, incense. Use common sense and light it in/on a fireproof container (I have a cheap plaster cup for my incense cones) and with plenty of ventilation. The nuclear option are aerosols intended to destroy odour-causing bacteria, such as OZIUM. It was originally developed to clear the air of soykafe in hospitals, and I've used to great effect in eradicating pungent scents like cannabis. Works just as well with smoke.

>>16229 Update: I fuarrrking love these. I don't take them regularly, but when I do I have a clear conscious and feel energized. I've read that nicotine can have a positive impact on people with MDD. While I don't want it become a daily habit it seems to work great with the daily cocktail I'm prescribed(Lithium 450 x2, Adderall 20, Lexapro 10 + 20, Remeron 15, Rexulti 3). I used to have an anxiety spike the moment I put one in my mouth, but that has subsided with more and more use. In the tobacco world I got a bunch of cigars for the New Year. As a lifelong metal fan I was really excited to get my hands on the James Hetfield Blackened M81 cigar from Drew Estate. From what I understand it's supposed to have a very bold flavor. I've really only tried mild flavored cigars so I can't wait to try something so different.

>>16737 Good day, friend! I am happy you rolled in, as I am always delighted to talk shop. When I began piping, all I had was a cheap corncob, a few filters and whatever bulk tobacco they had jarred at the mall. Inexpensive, comfy and pleasant year 'round. Corncobs are the working man's pipe. Smoke them until they burn out of the bottom, which takes a long time. You can easily replace them, and they're forgiving in addition to being simple to maintain. I would spring for a Missouri Meerschaum, a lighter, a Czech tool, a teensy box of filters, some pipe cleaners and a baggie of Prince Albert. If you look in all the right places, this can be had for a small sum. Moreover, nearly all tobacco shops, convenience stores, headshops and sundry drug stores carry these materials. From there, we can establish how you smoke, what you'd like to smoke and if piping is right for you, all at decidedly little cost. As far as cases? If you genuinely enjoy pipes, get a vinyl case off Ebay. Cheap, has all the room you need and some models come with a vinyl tobacco baggie for piping on the go. But let's keep it simple, shall we? Get a case after you determine if pipes are right for you. Even then, you don't absolutely need one. I'll post my Stanwell case next time I visit. It's nice to look at.

been smoking some korean imports lately. seven star, esse, and theres a weird device that basically vapes cigarettes i think it's called the lil hybrid, it also says miix on the box. my acquaintance overspent on cigs last time she visited korea and has given all the cigarettes and the device told me it was invented so that people can vape inside, she also uses it to vape inside. something im not gonna do lol. online its advertised as "heat not burn" so im guessing its some way of extracting nicotine from the tobacco inside the half-sized cigarettes it comes with. except i kind of doubt it extracts all the nicotine so I've just been tearing off the plastic filters on the end and smoking them like regular. i think i like a lot of foreign cigarettes as an american because of how smooth they are. you can't taste them much at all in comparison to USA brands, even the brand chungwa which has a trace of plum, allegedly. this isn't always true, there's a citrus variety i like that tastes really good, but honestly any import ive tried tastes better than the sootiness of most american brands, it feels like its better for my lungs or something. i just wish she didn't like menthol so much

When I was researching ways to commit suicide, I came across nicotine poisoning. It turns out that the nicotine in about a hundred cigarettes is enough to kill a large person. All you have to do is soak them in warm water for a while, filter out the solids, and let the water evaporate. Nicotine is way more powerful than I thought.

Puritos are an amazing middle in between cigars and cigarettes, I come to enjoy them very much as I preferred the slowburn of a cigar, instead of the instant kick of a cigarette. And also of course the flavour, it is better than any cigarette tobacco I have tried. Wholeheartedly I recommend them to anyone who wants their tobacco good, I personally love the mini 10 more than clubs, as they are a bit smaller with a smoother kick. Also cohiba is in general great. Any love for puritos here?

I'm currently giving Zones a try. I can't seem to find any 9 mg ZYNs in my area, but hopefully they'll start appearing soon. I don't like the mint flavor Zones have compared to the ones ZYN offers. I do like that you can open the lid on top and spit them out in there. Previously with ZYNs and other pouches I would carry an empty altoids tin to spit them out in. Are there any 9mg pouches that have no flavor added to them? I don't always want to have an overpowering flavor in mouth all day. Also, what are peoples thoughts on Siberia pouches? I missed out trying them before they were removed from the US market. Is it possible to order them from abroad without getting scammed?

Don't know if it is applicable here. Got a nicotine vape, smoked tobacco only beforehand. Was motivated by how I got pretty drunk in a pub and sitting and sucking on some nicotine (got it from a friend) was pretty good. Standing outside to roll and smoke a ciggie requires effort. It is quite interesting on how easy it is to smoke with it, most of the places don't care if you suck on these indoors. That convenience also kind of scares me, getting nicotine into the system becomes too easy. Also the flavors are soykaf, I asked for a more of a mellow and weak flavours and still got some fruit punch gigafuarkker soykafe. Any mellow and weak flavored liquids that lainons can recommend? Also, is it possible(and if possible, recommended) to put THC liquids into the thing? Any other lainons who smoke/d nicotine vapes?
Chan Siu Ming · 2025-06-06 14:35
>>18398 >Also the flavors are soykaf Get the simple-flavour stuff. Here in Polen we have stuff like "menthol", "earl grey", "matcha", etc. It's mostly nicotine salts though. If you are sucker for regular nicotine liquids, then I am sure you will be able to find some too, if not roll your own. >how easy it is to smoke with it True, although that depends on the build. With high Ohm coils and low wattage, you get little to no smoke and a lot of flavor. If you also want a strong throat hit, then mixes with more PEG are preferable.

>>19851 Just use nicotine lozenge, pouch or patch. Dont smoke or vape or use chewing tobacco or snus. Nicotine by itself there is not as much evidence of it being increased cancer risk but it likely has some negative effects from vasoconstriction. I tried 3mg Zyn and it made me feel anemic like, gave me an actually measurable mild fever followed by mild hypothermia, sweat a lot, and a have unique feeling nausea and needing to lay down a few minutes till it passed. The alkaline additives makes it absorb very fast which might be why. I started cutting a 3mg in half and using that for now which makes better cost effectiveness though this also seems a bit too weak doing this just slightly, also cuts down on the burning sensation the high alkalinity causes. The alkalinity likely is not good for gums to use regularly though. Did jog my memory it seemed but probably not good to become reliant on for memory unless there is some lasting effect that works when you dont use it. But nicotine is not only option for nootropics anyway.

>>19904 I started to vape to quit smoking, then started to use zyns, then circled in vape-zyn circuit for few years, then went down to 0 mg e-liquid and my mod broke, so I quit. I recommend trying cold turkey, because this entire process took me around 6 or so years. And I started smoking at least 16 years ago.

>>19954 You should try pipe smoking. It tastes better than cigarettes, lasts longer, and isn't as unhealthy or addictive as cigarettes because you don't inhale the smoke.

>>19904 You can definitely quit smoking cigarettes by smoking vapes but its 100$ gonna make your nicotine addiction worse unless you buy your own juice and do some special taper thing. Cant speak for snus or zyns I imagine they are easier to quit because of roa.
