I have been prescribed Propronolol for a somewhat specific scenario. I've yet to take it since I'm supposed to put myself in a situation that would make me anxious so I can see which dosage I need and if I have any side-effects, so far I've been unable to come up with one that I could easily do.
What is your experience with beta blockers? How much have they helped, if at all? And do you have any advice regarding taking them?

be more specific on your case, I cant help you if i dont know what is wrong. it sounds like it is used for a number of heart problems. if you want to be anxious, i guess scary movies or exposing yourself to something you are afraid of (legitimate phobias)

Sorry, I suppose I should have been more specific,
I've taken my diving test quite a few times, but soykaf the bed due to impaired movements due to anxiety. As far as I know beta blockers cut off adrenaline so symptoms of anxiety don't happen, but the thoughts will still be there.

so you just have test anxiety?
try doing something time based and see how your coordination goes down/up, have a friend or family member administer the test

I'm surprised that you got it prescribed without any cardiac or cardiovascular indication. I'm taking a dose of about 3mg/kg daily because of cardiac issues. We discovered the helpful side-effect of the Adrenalin inhibition wrt. panic disorders after the fact when I switched to it. At that time I had a history of increasing panic attacks. It doesn't remove nervousness per se but can be and was for me very helpful 'in the moment'. At the snapping point it reduced the jolt to warmth spreading over the body with the pulse rate at most slightly elevating. That left me enough focus to keep me from flailing around and exercising breathing and all that jazz. So that allowed me to perform something very similar to what you do normally in behavioral psychology to treat these disorders. Going into the situation, staying in the situation until you come down from the ceiling again and thus trough repetition normalizing the situation.
If this is translatable to your situation I don't know. As you can see my experience its tightly coupled to cardiac functions. If they're not in the picture its, well, a somewhat different picture, but if tachycardia is part of your problem you certainly will notice an effect.
You should monitor your blood pressure before and while you're taking it. You also might feel more tired out. And its advisable to not abruptly change dosages.

If you have PTSD or severe anxiety that can be a godsend, but they play havoc on your memory at the same time. I took that and clonidine for a while as an alternative to benzos or when I didn't want to take a benzo.
An easy way to test it is to watch a scary flick with jump scares or something like that. If you can get that jolt, you may need a little more. If the jump scares don't affect you then you're at the right dose.
