How do I stop smoking weed after smoking every day for two years in college? I used to do so much cool soykaf with my free time but I find it hard to find the motivation now when I can just smoke weed and instantly feel great

Have your cake and eat it too: rather than giving it up, create a new rule for yourself where you can't ever smoke in the same place twice. This will force you to leave your living room, go on hikes, meet new people, etc. The main downside to doing this is it reduces your safety, but that soykaf is for nerds.

Stop buying/having weed in the house when you cant smoke.
Then buy it and smoke sometimes as a treat.
Me personally I go through periods of heavy use, like 2 weeks of daily blazing post-work and then go for several months clean.

Weed is fuarrrking insidious. (Note that "insidious", despite whatever connotation it may have for you, does not mean "evil" but rather "subtle, gradual" -- granted, "alluring but harmful" or even "harming in a stealthy, gradual, cumulative manner", but nonetheless, this is not a moral statement or value judgment about weed, nor even a claim that weed is harmful, only an observation about what the addiction can be like for some. So if it makes you buttmad, you are reading the wrong sense of it.) This may not be how it is for everyone, but for some people it's as real as a heroin habit (note: "as real" -- or, "as non-imaginary" -- not "as harmful" or "as difficult"). Weed might make you quietly desperate and you'll break promises to yourself, but you don't usually have to lie to everyone you care about, and it doesn't tend to drive you to stealing from your grandma. Part of what makes it a difficult problem to deal with is the attitude that it's not really habit-forming at all and it's easy to just, like, stop doing it. That makes it hard to take it seriously as a problem in the first place -- how does an addict seek help if they feel weak and pathetic for even entertaining the thought that they have a problem in need of help to begin with?
Weed is pretty insidious even without that though. It's not exactly the kind of drug where, as you're doing it, you'll think about how it's kind of a bad idea and not sustainable and so on (which is a routine familiar to most people who have done hard drugs for more than a little while). It's more the kind of drug where you notice in hindsight what you haven't done with your life (and what you haven't maintained in your life), while in the same moment you all too easily convince yourself that in spite of your track record so far, you can do the drugs and the job, the drugs and the relationship, etc. Instead of watching my life fall apart in real time, it was more like watching it fall apart in several-month chunks during "tolerance breaks" (broke lol). So it creeps up on you until one day you realize you're useless and you've only been suppressing your dissatisfaction while working toward none of the things you want to do and letting the things you want to say fade away before they even take shape. You keep thinking maybe you should try stopping for a while, but it doesn't seem urgent. After all, everyone knows weed is harmless. It must be just you and your failure to maintain. Eventually, maybe you realize that the magic non-drug is controlling you, or at least that you can't live with it.
Once you finally decide that you absolutely must quit to have any hope of being the person you want to be, it turns out to be harder than it has any right to be, and it makes you feel unspeakably pathetic. It doesn't torture you until you cave and get a fix, it just subtly and charmingly convinces you that it would be easier, or no big deal, no harm just this time. You've done so much, surely you're out of the darkness and you can relax once in a while. This might be sounding familiar here! You know the rest: the weekend sesh never ends and you get sucked right back in. But once you're coming far enough out of it and feel yourself coming back, you can see clearly what it was taking from you and how the struggle is worth it.
Anyway I'm not trying to have an argument with you or anything, this is something I update/tailor and repost from time to time as the subject comes up in various places, mainly for the benefit of people who think they have no right to be having any trouble with weed. Shit has sugar-coated hooks. Just my two cents, but for what it's worth, I do meth, so maybe it's at least somewhat meaningful that I still have this opinion about weed addiction. Up to you. If none of this makes sense to you then maybe take a moment to be glad it doesn't, and then don't worry about it.

10/10 post. Smoking weed is so much worse for you than meth for the lung damage from tar alone.
