I wish drugs were as described

Apoc · 2023-10-10 22:46
God how I wish there was a drug that actually made things funnier (THC). And how I wish there was a drug that made you relaxed and horny (GHB). Almost every drug is basically the same: they don't actually have special effects. With the exception of psychedelics its pretty much either: 1. Wonky and unpleasant effects, or 2. Pleasure and relief from suffering. I've listened to music while on DXM and again on shrooms and it did NOT sound better. I even put off listening to the album "The United States of America - The United States of America" until I could get shrooms, only to be so very disappointed when it sounded the same, if not worse.

>>14125 I think seeing drugs as something that makes things better is not only missing the point, but also opening yourself to the exact circumstances that lead to them ruining you in the first place. They shouldn't make things better, they should make things different. Especially with psychadelics, it should be a journey outside your normal framework of perception, not an improvement of it. If your idea of drugs is that it'll make things better, I heavily recommend you never touch them again. They'll ruin your life.

>>14126 >If your idea of drugs is that it'll make things better, I heavily recommend you never touch them again. Is that not what medication does? If someone has low sex drive, they can be prescribed drugs to increase their sex drive. This is because lower than normal sex drive is seen as something that should be increased. Who is to say that normal sex drive is not something that should be increased?

>>14127 In that context, you wouldn't be making anything better, you'd be doing what you can to get them to baseline levels, and even then, I don't think I'd be entirely comfortably trying to match everyone else's baseline just off the desire to be "normal."

>>14126 >Drugs don't make things better That's funny, I argue the exact opposite. We teach kids/everyone that 'drugs are bad' and I think that misconception gives them a terrible concept of the reality: Drugs are too good. Cake makes life better, too, but we can't only eat cake. But if you take months worth of nutrition in a single meal, that's too much good. If you condense a months worth of pleasure into a single weekend, that's too much good. People unable to find this balance are probably addicted to whatever they can get their hands on, to include addiction to otherwise healthy activities; The strongman growing too big for his heart. The dietician starving herself on perfection. The perfectionist making his bed for the 3rd time this morning. Addiction has been flagrantly removed from our collective perception as a matter of substance as opposed to a matter of character. People are rapidly willing to accept that there are both metabolic and habitual addictions, but dissociate "habitual" from "substance" and they get offended, "You're habitually addicted to going for a jog at a specific time every morning." or "You're addicted to taking care of your kids." and the connotations of what addiction appears to them as will no doubt revile them with your suggestion of similarity, yet the fact remains that is things can be habitually additive, then habits themselves can be addictive.

Drugs don't work the same way for everyone. Some people don't even get an energy kick from caffeine. Probably, a combination of neurochemistry and personality makes you not get what you want out of drugs.

>>14125 >I've listened to music while on DXM and again on shrooms and it did NOT sound better. You have to tailor the music to the drug and setting. I like death metal but if I listen to it on acid I just think about how funny the growls are. >relaxed and horny Are people capable of both at the same time? Being horny always feels stimulating to me. >>14132 Seconding 2cb. A low dose will have you laughing your ass off at the dumbest things while still clear headed enough to enjoy high brow comedy too. Good for sex, too.

I can't really comment on the album that you mentioned as the trippy sensibilities to me come off as obnoxious, but psychedelics can be extremely transformative for certain music. I love silly sounding soykaf with DXM such as Aphex Twin's Melodies from Mars. LSD complements late 2010s dubstep pretty well. Mushrooms I just tripped on last week and techno with a trippy bent to it was just the perfect shuffled playlist discovery, the two songs that really struck with me below. Definitely give it another shot, maybe give it a bit of forethought of what styles would complement the affects for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM2FGjR_98k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUh4o9Llzbg

>>14150 I did shrooms and spent several hours jamming out and perfecting how to tap along with the overlapping beats of Opus No. 1 (the default hold music of Cisco CallManager (a.k.a. Cisco Unified Communications Manager (a.k.a. CUCM (a.k.a. c*ck-'em))))

Do dissociatives make things funnier?

>>14148 >>14132 2C-B is amazing. Can HEAVILY recommend MDA too for anyone who fails to really get that "wow" feeling from drugs.

Isn't a common effect of salvia divinorum uncontrollable laughter? I don't think it's same as finding things funnier, it might be a sort of uncontrolled action. As for a horny drug there is PT-141 aka bremelanotide ( branded as Vyleese) which is actually prescribed for females with low libido but supposedly works on males too but Im not sure if why it wasnt approved for males is because safety concern or only because they did not want to compete against ED meds which work entirely differently but it makes you energized not relaxed from what i read. Anyone with more insight?
