be your own pharmacist

over the last days my interest in drugs peaked (especially nootropics, neurostimulants, psychactives etc) and i wanted to start making my own pills with various effects but i feel like i dont know where to start researching, buying chemicals or drugs in their pure form, if i should synthesise some etc this thread could be place to gather informations on these topics

Start with organic chemistry books for undergrads and see if you are willing to torture yourself learning that before you endevour into pharmacology and drug distribution

>>12303 i'm in the same boat as you lain. i hated chemistry in school, all they made us do was memorize a list of chemical reactions, the color, the brightness, etc and regurgitate this for 2 hours on the exam. but now because of psychoactive drugs i actually am interested in chemistry for the first time. being able to combine and react compounds and ending up with something that can alter how your mind works is pretty cool. i've thought about going back to college and taking basic organic chemistry. i was inspired by the mdma synthesis in hamilton's pharmacopoeia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT3qs0lQit8 because it looks low-tech and not too complicated like you'd prob be able to replicate if you knew your stuff. unfortunately where i am everything is controlled even sale of glassware is watched by the police. chemical suppliers would i think be the same. and also i live with other people to whom i would have to explain why i have all this chemistry stuff. it'd be nice if synthesizing drugs wasn't illegal because it's prob an effective gateway to being interested in chemistry in general.

You seems to be more interested by synthetic chemicals, however I definitely recommend you to get, at least at first, into natural products. Growing your own plants, then learning about the different ways to extracts their phytochemicals, getting to know all the different compounds would be a good practical start. Then maybe finding way to isolate said compounds, increase concentration... I don't know where you live, so I can only really make general recommendations; look for adaptogen plants for instance, some psychoactive would be fungus or cactus, although there are also a lot of "classic" plants that fit that purpose. Obviously everyone will scream "weeeeed" but there's a lot of plants with potentially more subtle effects, but which are much more esoteric and so much less restricted. Some phytochemicals (like all chemicals) are more soluble in water, some in alcohol, some in fats... obviously if you're a beginner, don't start with toxic solvent since you would probably leave some of the toxic junk in your final product. A lot of common drugs are extracted from plants. However, the fact that one chemical is isolated can either make it much more dangerous, much more potent, or much more weak... Have fun learning.
