Currently I am on 16mg a day for around a year now. Every time I try to drop down to 12mg I get sick and give up. It isnt very sick or anything, just the prospect of being low level sick for a year while I taper kills me.
I was recently looking into going to an Ibogaine clinic to get off without tapering, but they told me I had to be on shorter acting opiates for a minimum of 40 days (really 60 days at my dose) to have ibogaine work. They told me to get back on heroin or oxy if I wanted to do Iboga, which at this point I am honestly considering trying. Either that or kratom. I am financially/mentally able to cover 200-300mg a day of real oxys without it being a big deal or escalating, so I am leaning towards doing that for 2 months and then going to Mexico to do Iboga to finally be free of opioids.
Have any of you tried Ibogaine for getting off opiates? What has been your experience getting off of suboxone?

Switching to short acting is a bad idea, and don't try to convince yourself otherwise.
If 12mg is too little, have you considered finding a way to taper more slowly? (e.g. crush into liquid and volumetric dose)
I've done 10% reductions every 4-8 weeks (longer towards the end) with minimal sickness feeling.
Starting with 16mg that would look something like:
16.0 mg x 4wks
14.4 mg (-1.6 mg) x 4wks
13.0 mg (-1.4 mg) x 5wks
11.7 mg (-1.3 mg) x 6wks
10.5 mg (-1.2 mg) x 6wks
...
7.7 mg x 8wks
6.9 mg x 8wks
etc.

I will say that I did feel sick the entire time, especially for the first couple weeks after a taper (and definitely the first ~3 days).
But timing it all out and knowing when I'd be done gave me something to work towards and kept me going.
Also towards the second half of titration I started taking antihistamines, which helped a bit with some side effects of titration.
