Experimenting with LSD and VR
Judge Fang · 2022-03-28 00:47
I've been recently checking out this book called "Cyberia:Life In The Trenches of Cyberspace", and one of the biggest things that really get me is how much it talks about psychedelic use and the early working/creating of VR. It talks a lot about how for a time a lot of these big tech companies were psychedelically influenced, and it related sorta back to my own psychedelic experiences. So, it gave me inspiration to wanna try out VR and psychedelics. Especially with a phenomena I've known about for a couple of years called phantom sense, this sense has little to no research about it, but it's very interesting to think about the early use of psychedelics and VR while thinking on the present moment of these certain phantom feelings occuring. If LSD is to increase things like imagination, who's to say it won't increase certain things like that. When I get Acid and LSD, I'd surely love to post on here and see what all the fellow lainons think. This is one of my first posts on a anon board, never posted on 4Chan because of the culture there, but this seems like a cool place to post my findings and record it anonymously.

hahahah the .gif is a bit funny, but to be specific too on the VR device I'm going to be using is a quest, I wish I could get something better, but I sold my old computer when getting kicked out last year so I'm a bit stuck with a cheap PC which is meh, it does the job and I'm able to post my findings/explorations which is good enough, hoping soon I could document a lot of the wild things happening and occurring on VR, it's honestly really cool and all the things people do on there along with the dedication a lot of people have towards augmenting their full bodies into the experience

>Quest
That's an antiethical product in my view, it hurts to see that oculus don't have a lot of competition. People keep feeding the beast which will just further their dominance. They've already started forcing facebook account crap down everyone's throats.
More on topic, an interesting thing out there is that people have tried recreating an introspective LSD type journey in VR, making programs that are like assisted meditation tools for VR. Regarding actual LSD use, everything around you automatically gets interesting so I don't think using VR would make it any different and I imagine the nausea and motion sickness would probably get exacerbated.

Yeah I completely agree, I hate the quest so much, it's not really mine though too so I'm not feeding the beast but borrowing from a friend who just doesn't really use it, I don't have enough money really for a better VR headset or good PC, also that's a good point too, it might exacerbate it quite a bit, but might still be interesting to try, I might try out one of those guided meditation tools you're talking about, that would be a pretty safe way to do it and might be productive if I don't get motion sickness

I know someone who did basically this and he said it was a wild trip. Personally I think it would be disorienting and nauesting. I prefer my trips to be very naturalistic as well.

The sexondrugs subreddit has some people who regularly watch VR porn on lsd. Personally I would never waste drugs on fapping to porn but they seem to love it and consider their faps to be mind-blowing.

same, don't using drugs while fapping make it harder later on in life to get hard-ons? I've heard of stuff like weed-dick before where the dick is usually smaller with people who smoke weed often and fap due to the effect weed has on the penis so the dick gets used to it, but I'm not too sure how that works lol

i dont know but i cannot cum from normal sex, i bet because its from fapping on weed and other psys, you fap longer and with harder grip and cock gets used to your hand too much
Crazy Jake · 2022-03-30 13:01
It certainly is an interesting venue to go down on.
This idea is not new obviously, but it seems it never took off like so many things its just too good for the world.
Btw if you havent seen the lawnmower man, torrent that soykaf and watch it.

I just recently upgraded my VR rig. The dude threw in full body trackers at a great price, I'm curious to see if I can develop a "phantom sense" now that is easier to convince my brain I am the Jurassic park dinosaur now that the legs and hips move with my own. From what I can tell with VR, one of the most important factors is your willingness to accept what you see as reality. kind of like hypnotism, it is only as effective as you allow it to be. I've heard stories about people sleeping in VR where they note the surreal experience of waking up as someone else in another world.

I'm thinking about investing in VR, what hardware do you have, and what is the estimated cost for something cool with body trackers?
Case · 2022-04-07 01:07
I am a bit concerned if it could screw up your visual processing because a lot of VR headsets sometimes have a warping effect and have a ridiculously narrow field angle which cuts back immersion potential and certain psychedelics help your brain act more like a child's brain so maybe look into the effects of VR goggles on children because i was thinking what if this rewires your brain in a weird way? Or am i wrong?
I think what should be tried first is putting in some earbuds or on some headphones (ideally with atmospheric sound function so you can hear around you for safety) hooked to your phone so you can move about and listen to binaural recordings aka 3D audio such as ASMR roleplay videos where someone talks to you some primarily are audio only. Field recordings with some chill animals in 3D audio also would be good. One could see if it causes to feel like someone or something is there and start hallucinating it.

That's called interfacing. The most memetic idea of which is
>The sword is an extension of yourself
But it's not limited to that. Driving in a car, if you're good at it, you very much feel exactly where your tires are, even the outer body. This is an extension of your kinesthetic sense, the idea that you know where your hand is without looking at it. Some people aren't good at it. Extending this sense to an interface is absolutely something you can train, whether it's a sword or a helicopter, or even something more abstract like a terminal session.
VR absolutely fricks with it, immensely. Playing a shooter and falling off of an obstacle is evocative to the motion-sick, and when it happened to me I bent my knees and toes to catch myself as if I were actually falling. I even panicked because I started calculating the weight of my equipment breaking my legs. It was incredible. But I've only played a couple times, and never while high.
Psychedelics may or may not elicit a hightened sense of kinesthetic interface. And, depending on your preexisting capability, they can help you develop it. Achieving it is not a hallucination, unless you're talking about a deeper, altered sense-of-self roleplay, in which case go yiff in hell.

it's interesting, the veil between virtual reality and real reality creates a kind of reset mechanism. You take off the headset and your addled brain kind of short circuits and "forgets" to keep hallucinating for a few seconds then it catches up and everything starts wibbling and melting again and gives a disconcerting feeling. At least at a certain level of highness.
Phantom touch is a meme and acid wont make you feel it.
Took 500ug recently, if you want to know how it went then I'll post about it.

If you really want FBT (you do) then you want lighthouse tracking and that means Index. For trackers you have Vive 3.0s (slightly pricier, heavier, better) or Tundras (may be cheaper, lighter, some "issues" reported)
About £1500 including accessories.
Yes there are arguments for and against Index, yes it's old, yes it's expensive, yes it has worse x/y/z than a/b/c headsets, yes valve are releasing a new headset "soon"(tm).

Honestly, it's pretty cool. I've only fuarrrked around a little bit with things like BeatSaber lightshow maps (no blocks to hit, fuarrrk that), and a few VRchat maps which have cool soykaf like rainbow pens you can draw in the air with.
Biggest (only) problem is that you can sometimes get dizzy, sometimes my body feels too weak to stand if I'm really wigging it, but you can always just lie on the bed. It's also easy to phase out and just blindly stare at a single pixel and not really take in the full surroundings.
Not as insanely mind-blowing as I'd assumed, but still pretty crazy cool. Would totally recommend if you have the opportunity.

Good book. Also talked about nootropics. We need a revival in this stuff.
