Do any lainons have any tips on smoking less marijuana? I feel like my life has been consumed by it and I just want to smoke on the weekends.

stop smoking socially. If people ask, tell them you're trying to cut back. There's no shame. If you only smoke on your own, just exercise some elf control. Keep your piece and weed packed away on weekdays.

I've had a lot of experience with this problem. Don't say you're going to quit forever, say you are going to go on a month long t-break. Don't bother trying to keep it to weekends, and see if you can take a break from it. It should give you perspective. Honestly when you smoke a lot of weed, it begins to define you and you can easily fall into a situation where your friends only want to smoke weed with you or others. It's good to take a break. Personally, I smoked for about 3-4 years, typically 4-5 times a week. I stopped smoking and suddenly many friends fell out of my life -- it turned out there wasn't much in common besides smoking up. While I had ambitions and wanted to work on projects and study and talk about books and stuff they just wanted to smoke and play vidya. Even when they quit there wasn't much I had in common with them besides our past addiction and stories about the "old days". Stopping habitually smoking was one of the best decisions I made, and I've never heard of anyone regretting a t-break or quitting. I'll still smoke occasionally with family members on some family holidays, but it's a treat rather than an addiction. Taking a long T-break was like snapping out of a dream and realizing how great sober life is. I wish you the best of luck! Find some new hobbies, find some supportive friends/family, and get motivated to work on yourself. Weed's not the devil, but it certainly can a trap if used habitually.

>>934 My strategy is to only smoke socially. Smoking when hanging out with friends in the weekends is relaxing, but when you're smoking on your own it starts to get a daily habit very quickly. Like fapping.

I get bored so I smoke then this stops me working

smoking only on weekends might be hard to manage at first if you have troubles dealing with your consumption since it takes more than a week to form new habits and get it off your mind. It would be easier to cut it off completely for a while imo, otherwise you'd end up repeating the annoying first week with the weird sweaty dreams. I don't really remember doing anything special to quit aside from avoiding seeing my friends too much, I'd say it took about a month and a half before I stopped thinking about it. Looking back it was way easier than I thought it would be

tinctures help. Start lowering thc, then up the cbd and then lower the total doses per day. Like titration for benzos.

>>933 get some strong edibles and get completely baked. it will make you question things and good for a mind reset and change of habits.

You could always swap out one addiction for another. I traded a pretty bad pot habit for an equally bad cigarette habit, then got a vape to quit those. I don't know if I'd actually recommend this approach but it worked for me.

>>933 If your life has been consumed by it, then you must now make a decision. The only person that exists in this world is you. You are solely in control of how much marijuana you smoke. Stop buying it. Making this post in itself suggests the thought "I should stop smoking" has become something you worry about yet do nothing to mitigate every day. It stops being a problem the moment you decide to stop letting it be a problem, because nobody else can make it stop at some point.

Weed was a full on addiction for me. I was a 24/7 wake n bake pothead for a few years. Last time I smoked was 6 months ago and i dont miss it Ive never met someone who gets as bad withdrawals from weed as i do. Irritable restless (cant sleep at all and when i do its intense nightmares) depressed and anxious for a week straight and i hate other people For me quitting meant being around friends who werent potheads at all, which meant no one because all of my friends were/are potheads Knowing what you really want helps- do you want to cut back or quit permanently? For me quitting forever is the goal now. The past few times i smoked i get nothing but paranoia and heart racing, weeds just not as fun for me as it used to be

>>1095 Seconding this, I wanted to quit smoking pot for a long long time but couldn't manage through willpower alone. In the end I managed by substituting cigarettes and alcohol. I was drinking way more than is recommended for a month or two, sure, but that was way easier to cut back that the MJ had been. Now it's just the cigarettes I can't shake, but I only smoke about 10/week so I'm okay with that.

>>1119 >which meant no one because all of my friends were/are potheads it's kind of weird how prevalent weed seems to be until you stop hanging around potheads. I made a big effort this year to stop hanging out with my pothead roommates all the time and it worked, I feel less and less like I need to smoke to fit in. When I do smoke now it's a treat and I can enjoy it so much more. Also: most potheads secretly have no social life, outside of going around to peoples' places and smoking.
Frank Garza · 2017-12-11 21:52
>>1124 Actually that is a social life. It's boring because I don't mesh well with stoned modes of conversation, but not boring to them apparently. But it's definitely a social life. I was never a pothead but I miss having people I could just visit and sit around and talk with every day but everyone I knew either became a "responsible adult" or is buried in a screen 16 hours a day. Responsible adulthood is no option; maybe I should become a pothead.
