Has anyone tried brewing? Any tips for someone to just started their first batch?

I've made literal jail wine with apples, bread and brown sugar sifted out of packets of oatmeal. In jail, in a box under my neighbor's bunk. Tbh it actually tasted fuarrrking delicious, not sure how the fermentation worked but I assume natural yeasts on the apples(bread cooked), we only let it go like 10 days though cuz shakedown was coming but 2 weeks would have been ideal.. Then after all that I made pseudo-jail wine with fruit juice and bread yeast, then later I got high-avb yeast specifically for alcohol and tried the same recipe and it was actually pretty good. My next project is either going to be mead or hard cider.. Its just very satisfying to set it all up and see it start to get fizzy and make sure you have happy little yeasts. Sure does make things easier when one has proper yeast and nutrient. There is a plethora of information available online, though, and you really should have done more research and made an OP with some value instead of expecting people to do it for you. What are you trying to make?

>>762 I'm brewing mead because I was told it was a good simple starter, because it was just honey, water, and yeast.

I brew constantly. I'v distilled in my dorm a few times too but it takes forever and makes a mess.

Alcohol is taxed pretty hard here so what would be a hobby in some countries would actually save me a lot of money if I got organized. This would involve NOT drinking off my next cheque but buying the equipment and saving loads in the long term. My sister-in-law makes wine. She tells me, bring the bottles back to her when they're empty. They're more expensive than the actual wine.

I did it ages ago. The beer is better than anything you can get in a store but the flavor is inconsistent. I was always sure I messed up, especially around bottling time but it was always great.
