DMT/Laced Shit Fuckery

A friend of mine was given a bag of already ground up weed after a smoke sesh a couple of days ago, and he's just now gotten around to smoking it. After pinching a bowl from the bottom of the bag and smoking it, he sat around for a little (like 1-2 minutes) then realized that something was wrong, so he called me while having a panic attack. As he described it, "Everything was repeating like a glitchy animation and stuff became animated and kaleidoscope like". Now I'm a rather frequent smoker myself, and I've never experienced something like that from weed, so I assumed it was laced. First thing that came to mind was PCP since weed can be soaked in it, but it didn't match the description of the trip. After asking some more questions (do you feel a rushing sensation, what open and closed eye visuals are you having, etc.), I made a guess that it was laced with DMT, even though I haven't done it myself (I honestly just read effects off of erowid and asked him if that was happening to him). I kept talking to him throughout the trip and eventually calmed him down in a way that would at least help him maybe enjoy what was rest of his trip. He still has some of that weed left, is there a way to test this (using a testing kit) for DMT and/or PCP and what can he do other than not taking already ground up weed to minimize the risk of getting laced weed?

It is unlikely that it was DMT, since 1) DMT has to be vaporized and direct heat contact would destroy it (afaik), 2) the effects of DMT, while similar to what you described, are very short lived, ie 5 minutes (with some minor residual effects for ten or so minutes.)
It sounds far more likely that PCP or potentially some sort of RC could be involved.
I also don't know why a dealer wanting to lace cannabis would use DMT. My waifu has only ever received DMT as a gift but I would imagine that there's not really a good ROI in terms of doing that comparative to just selling the DMT outright.
My guess would be some sort of synthetic cannabinoid to 'increase potency.' Those things can be nightmarish, and exceptionally dissociative. My waifu has gone into near k-hole like experiences experimenting with them. Effects vary tremendously, but your friend's experience sounds very much like symptoms synthetic cannabinoids have been known to produce.
as for the regent test, this thread seems to provide enough information to answer your question:

As for preventing this from happening again: this is easier said than done, but shop around and find a dealer you trust. I wouldn't recommend your friend utilize this dealer again. If you're in a situation where that may not be an immediate option, I would talk to the dealer about it.

100% a blend. Spice has gone to soykaf as of recent and comes with very dissociative effects.
DMT has to be vaporized and would be destroyed by the heat. PCP has different effects than what you said happened.
Synthetic cannabinoids always come grinded which is why you don't buy/accept shake "weed".

Not sure if this would be PCP-laced bud or not, but 10 or so years ago my friend and I had this stuff that immediately produced a hard sedation, with an even harder visual effect; my vision became very red, blocky, and blurry, causing my vision to juxtapose with imagination. It seemed to remind me of DOOM, so on top of my surroundings I saw huge block, bloody pixel red DOOM-corridor-navigating in the haze. Kind of similar to whippit visual effects. I don't think anything like RCs or DMT would be laced at the time so if that sounds all at relateable to your swim cat, I wouldn't suspect those things...
Synthetic cannabinoids in my experience have never created any strong visual effects.

Sounds absolutely fascinating.
Do you believe imagination/creativity can be amplified for longer periods of time?

My friend will definitely not be buying from this guy again. I'll look into getting the rest of the plant material tested from the thread you linked. After reading your post, I'm pretty sure it was laced with synthetic cannabis.

**Nice get.** My friend pushed the guy who sold it to him around a little and got him to tell him what it was, and he said it was a strain called "LSD" that he got off the darknet. Guy didn't warn him or anything, and my friend did not like the trip at all. I'll look more into this LSD strain, but I very much doubt there's such a thing (was probably just laced with synthetic soykaf).

LSD is a real saliva strain I've seen in dispensaries, but that's in name only; even if he did buy said strain of darknet, that strain alone would not account for your friend's experiences.

Sounds disso as fuarrrk. Definitely PCP.

I had this effect due to a chemical imbalance in my brain. I used to smoke just to experience this. Though i couldn't drive as I would bounce around brain wise. Yeah i would have jumps back and forth it is really weird due to legality I don't know how many people experience this either. Just saying he could have a chemical imbalance that processes certain things different.

>Everything was repeating like a glitchy animation
This happened to me the first time I smoked, having no idea of what weed would do, we took a heavy dose and I got an anxiety attack after maybe 10mins when everything became repetetive, much like 5sec gif but with audio which was insane. I'm not sure the weed was laced though because I smoked from it 5-6 times after and none of these things happened again.

Had similar experience second time smoking just normal weed. I knew it was normal because i'd been doing the same stuff before hand and i was with friends doing it with me - they never experienced it. I smoked soykaftones that night and i've concluded i must have had an anxiety/panic attack, however i remember the feeling of losing control, losing touch with reality (which, IIRC are not synonymous with an anxiety attack).

Strains high in THC and low in CBD can cause psychosis.
Back in the day, weed wasn't as "farmed" for particular traits as it is these days. Today you can get all manner of strains from all manner of farms with all kinds of THC/CBD ratio contents.
People are finally coming to understand however that strictly THC bred strains aren't good for mental health. There needs to be a balance between the THC and CBD ratio.
In the same way that medical marijuana focuses on strains bred with low THC and high CBD (such as Charlotte's Web).
I used to smoke on a daily basis. Mostly high THC strains. It was detrimental to my mental health. I cannot smoke anything with a high THC content these days or I suffer from severe panic attacks and just want to crawl into bed and hide under the blankets.
High CBD / low THC strains however, I can smoke all day with absolutely no negative side effects. However many people dislike smoking it because it doesn't give you the THC high. I personally prefer it these days because the mellow is gives is like taking several diazepam. It's just relaxing as opposed to "omg I'm so high I can't feel my face" sort of high.

That's happened to me a few times, too much really strong weed will do it. Although I had one batch that'd do it regardless, probably laced. Freaked me the hell out the first time it happened.

Sounds to me like it was salvia divinorum. It's sold in extract forms, 5x, 10x, 15x meaning 15 times as potent as the original leaf. It comes in small amounts of ground up leaf bits, it's usually dark green. The effects come on real fast (within 1-2 minutes of smoking.) The repeating perspective aspect is common (read some trip reports on erowid.) Luckily the effects only last maybe five minutes, as your body metabolizes it real quick. It's a pretty nasty psychedelic trip for most people. People I know that have smoked it don't want to smoke it again. 2/10 would not smoke again.

I'd be inclined to say salvia as well but OP didn't mention how long the trip lasted, if it was any longer than say 10 minutes there's no way it was salvia.
I only did salvia once (only a little bit) and it was alright, it made it seem like there was a dude being projected from right outside my peripheral and I named him Projection Man. Very similar to the glitchy repetition that OP talks about. After that I just crawled around on the floor for a little bit and once I stood back up it was over.
A friend of mine said one time he did it and it made it feel like his clothes were melting into his skin though, which doesn't sound very fun.
Overall I'd rather just stick to regular old cannabis. Same friend said he did synthetic once (on purpose, just to see what it was like) and it was not very fun. Definitely agree with >>420, don't bother with shake especially if you don't know the dealer personally.

Hi, OP here, never made an update so I guess I could do one now since people are interested. Trip duration was way longer than 10 minutes, I was on the phone with him for at least half an hour calming him down (I can only estimate the time due to this being such an old event). I've read a few trip reports of people on saliva and none of them really fit the description he could give me of what was going on, so that might be out of the question. Friend a month later smokes an indica, no hallucinations whatsoever, doesn't panic.
Jet Black · 2017-10-19 22:11
I've had these same effects when I was very high. Some people just get them.
Honestly it kind of put me off weed. Low doses are fine, but it's uncomfortable after even just a couple bong rips.

wait.
>Everything was repeating like a glitchy animation and stuff became animated and kaleidoscope like
never had *that* happen to me, that's a pretty strong hallucination.
But yeah, the very uncomfortable rushing sensation happens to me sometimes.
Nemissa · 2017-10-20 01:07
Has he done any psychedelics recently?

this is the effects of amanita muscaria.

>Has he done any psychedelics recently?
Unless you count weed as a psychedelic, then no. I don't think he's mentally stable enough (problems with anxiety) to take powerful psychedelics honestly. I think he would just freak the fuarrrk out and have a bad trip. He needs to mature with drugs more before being introduced to a substance such as LSD or Psilocybin mushrooms.
