Modafinil

Any of you try this soykaf? Stimulants have always been my Achilles heel, but i don't take them anymore and deal with the lack of focus. I remember modafinil was hot soykaf back in the day, but i don't know that much about it. Apparently you can't get it without a prescription now but Adrafinil is still widely available and metabolizes into Modafinil (gotta love drug laws).
Seems like a good alternative to classical stimulants, like it would have a lighter amount of comedowns / side effects. But i'm not sure.

I tried it once. A friend of mine had a prescription for it and I had some code to write so I figured why not give it a try?
It's very difficult trying to evaluate how effective it was. I stayed up all night trying to fix a bug. Event handlers would deregister themselves after their first use. I correctly ascertained that it wasn't a problem in my code, but somewhere in one the libraries I was using. 8 hours with no breaks later I realised that a return 0 should have been a return 1. More than that there was a comment above it saying "I'm not sure if this is right." I paid no attention to this and it wasn't until I read the documentation saying "if a handler returns 0 it will be deregistered" that I noticed (it was hidden away somewhere stupid iirc). So, while it was definitely good for keeping me awake and focused there's some evidence it made me dumb. Then again, maybe I would have passed it over just the same if I hadn't had the modafinil. Hard to say.

My waifu stayed up for a 14 hour shift, took half pill on the 9th hour, finished work and went to party hard for another 6 hours, got 4 hours sleep and woke up next morning feeling well rested.
She didn't felt the "only focus on one thing" effect that some people report having. Maybe because it was half dose (100mg out of 200mg).
Only time she ever done it, I expect she will take next half this week , will report her experience back.

Can't speak for modafinal, but I highly recommend the non-prescription prodrug Adrafinal, which metabolizes to modafinal.
I'm prone to all-nighters or only getting a few hours of sleep, and this compound has been a lifesaver. It's definitely helped diminish the effects of sleep deprivation significantly.
I've only used it outside of those circumstances once or twice; it definitely helps with focus, but not in that 'focus only on one thing' way that previous lainon described.
No noticable comedowns/side-effects for me, at least, nothing worse than natural consequences of staying up all night/sleeping few hours. If anything, it diminishes those consequences.
YMMV.

I seen couple of documentaries and read enough stuff to say that you are somewhat right. Modafinil narrows your point of view and extremely focuses your attention. It isn't used for creative work but usually by people that have ti stay up for next 14 hours working.
Also, most people lower the dosage to something like 30 mg but take it every 8 hours to keep them awake and sharp.

I have a prescription for it but I really only use it if I desperately need to because it makes me feel weird as hell. Definitely keeps me awake but puts me in a weird ass mood and I get these weird, huge circular rashes from it. It's definitely not an adderall replacement or anything, just keeps you from dozing off.

Got a pack from afinil.eu a few days ago.
Ordered pure modafinil and Armodafinil which is, wikipedia tells me, the enatiopure version of modafinil. Supposedly weaker but longer lasting.
Anyway: Effect of taking one when rested is small although pleasant: a bit higher concentration and less "fuarrrk this ima play vidya" feelings when reading textbooks.
Stacked it with noopept: Weird but not unpleasant feeling, no jitters or racing thoughts compared to caffeine.
Did an all nighter with in total of 36 hors awake mostly spend on the computer reading textbooks and articles, programming and then visiting my students (im a private tutor) and giving lessons.
I was not told by any of them that I looked/talked/behaved differently than usual. And that was after I had been awake for around 28 hours and the subjects I teach are math and science for IB (standard and higher level), so it does not seem to impair my ability to reason nor to make complicated things easy to understand.

I got this far and checked the pic instead of the subject line. What... mustard? It took me a moment to ketchup.

Modafinil is fuarrrking great. I've been using it occasionally for years. Just bought a 30 pill supply a few weeks ago, its easy to acquire legally here though few people know about it.
It's not really a stimulant in the generally understood sense of the word (I think it's not even classified as such). It does make you feel slightly better and does make you focus, but it doesn't make you euphoric except on rare occasions. It's like an improved caffeine with much better power and none of the negatives. Now I just drink coffee for the taste.
What it does, and does extremely well, it that it entirely removes the desire for sleep. You can go for days on this soykaf with relatively minor performance drops. Just this past week I went on for 4 days without any sleep. And afterwards it's not like you crash, I just went to sleep a normal 7 hours and resumed a regular schedule.
100 mg is ok for a good focus in the afternoon. 200 mg taken late at night will make you power through until well past mid-day of the following day like it was nothing. More than 400 mg is pointless. You can get "tunnel vision" focus with 400 mg doses. It can make even the most boring, repetitive soykaf awesome for hours.
Side effects are pretty mild, the occasional dry mouth, jaw clenching, loss of appetite, a rare headache (don't forget to eat / hydrate and take choline sources), slight heartrate increase. Never felt any comedown effects, it just wears off and you become your usual unfocused sleepy self.

I'm not sure about modafinil, but adderall is definitely my love afiar at the moment. crushing uni thanks to it.
